“Asleep in the bathtub?” Yan Yichen looked at her in disbelief.

No wonder he had waited for her downstairs for two hours without seeing her come down. It turned out she’d been asleep in the bathtub for two whole hours. This girl really had nerves of steel.

Seeing his astonished expression, Meng Yier wondered if he was about to lose his temper again. Pretending to be calm, she nodded. “It wasn’t on purpose. I didn’t sleep well last night, and today was exhausting. I was just too tired.”

Yan Yichen said nothing. He simply walked into the dressing room. Meng Yier’s gaze followed his retreating figure, taking in the enormous closet—which was even larger than the bedroom itself.

Inside, all sorts of designer shoes and clothes lined the space in neat, extravagant rows. Meng Yier couldn’t help but silently marvel at the man’s lavishness.

After a moment, Yan Yichen emerged, holding a white garment in his hands.

“Put this on.”

His cool voice left no room for argument.

Meng Yier hesitated briefly, then took it from him. Her own clothes were soaked and filthy—completely unwearable. She couldn’t very well keep wrapped in a towel forever. Even if this was his, it had to be better than the towel.

“All right. Thank you.”

Yan Yichen gave a faint nod, turning as if to leave.

“Yan Yichen, is this a woman’s dress?” Meng Yier stared in surprise at the white gown in her hands. She had expected something of his, but when she unfolded it, it was a silk dress—a long, flowing one.

Why would there be a woman’s dress here?

And it was clearly a young woman’s style. Could it be…

“Yes.” Yan Yichen stopped, turning back to her, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes.

“Is it your girlfriend’s? Won’t she be upset if I wear it?” Meng Yier frowned, her voice soft.

The curiosity in his gaze vanished, replaced by something sly. Yan Yichen raised an eyebrow, slowly walking toward her, leaning down to ask, “And if I said yes, would you still wear it?”

His cool voice sounded above her, making Meng Yier freeze for an instant. For some inexplicable reason, a wave of bitterness washed over her, tight and uncomfortable.

She tried to collect her jumbled thoughts. After a while, she whispered, “If wearing your girlfriend’s dress makes her unhappy, then I’d really be in the wrong. Maybe I should just—”

Yan Yichen’s lips curled up, and he cut her off. “Or do you want to wear my clothes instead?”

“No, of course not!” Meng Yier waved her hands in flustered denial, a suspicious blush coloring her cheeks.

He laughed softly, the smile at his lips deepening.

“I don’t have a girlfriend, Meng Yier… so you can wear it without worry.” He looked earnestly into her eyes, each word of his cool, melodious voice clear and sincere.

No girlfriend.

Those words landed heavily in Meng Yier’s heart. She let out a deep breath, a smile unconsciously tugging at her lips.

To mask the ripple of emotion inside, she asked casually, “Then whose dress is this?”

His gaze grew complicated as he looked at her. Pressing his lips together, Yan Yichen straightened and turned away.

“I bought it for fun. It’s brand new—wear it as you like.”

Bought for fun? Women’s clothes?

Meng Yier’s bright eyes widened as she stared in disbelief at his tall, slender back. Under her breath, she muttered, “For fun? Bought women’s dresses for fun? Cosplay?”

At the door, Yan Yichen heard her murmuring and couldn’t help but smile wryly.

This girl’s imagination was truly something.

She had no idea that this was not the only women’s dress in his closet—there was an entire wardrobe full of them, all bought just for her.

He remembered the last time downstairs, when he’d seen her wearing the clothes that Kesen had given her. His jealousy had nearly driven him mad, so he’d bought a closet full of beautiful outfits, all her size.

And all of this, Meng Yier knew nothing about.
