Yan Yichen frowned slightly. Had she run into trouble again just after parting for a short while?

"Where are you? I'll come pick you up."

"No need... Yichen, let's meet tonight."

"Tell me where you are. I want to see you right now..."

Yan Yichen raised an eyebrow. "However... now I've changed my mind."

"How can you go back on your word?"

"Why can't I?"

Yan Yichen let out a low chuckle, his slender fingers gently pinching her delicate chin.

"Kissing my own girlfriend is entirely justified and doesn't break any laws."

"..."

Meng Yi'er rolled her big, round eyes, her brain spinning at the speed of light as she searched for a reason to retort.

Yet, in just a fraction of a second, Yan Yichen's lips had already pressed firmly against hers.

"Yan Yichen, you didn't keep your promise..."

Meng Yi'er accused him with a blushing face, but unable to break free, she could only passively endure his tender kiss.

A faint, sweet fragrance drifted from her slightly parted lips. Exercising self-control, Yan Yichen refrained from deepening the kiss; it was just a brief taste before he quickly released her.

"How can you blame me for this?"

Yan Yichen rested his forehead against hers, his low, husky voice slowly rippling through the air by her ear. A smile lingered on his god-like handsome face, carrying even a trace of innocence.

Looking at his devastatingly handsome smile, Meng Yi'er was momentarily dazed, her heart beating violently.

After a long while, she gradually recovered her senses and reproached him coquettishly:

"If I don't blame you, who should I blame? Could it possibly be my fault?"

Was this man being unreasonable at all? Clearly, he was the one who broke his promise, so how could he end up blaming someone else?

"Of course it's your fault."

Meng Yi'er was struck speechless with anger. "Me? How is it my fault?"

Yan Yichen smiled, gently pressing a kiss onto her forehead. His dark, deep eyes fixed intently on her face as he said tenderly, "If you weren't so alluring, how could I possibly have lost control of myself?"

Shyly, Meng Yi'er lowered her gaze and let him hold her, her flushed little face pressed against his chest. Hearing the drum-like beat of his heart, her face grew even redder.

After hesitating for a moment, she gently pushed him away. "It's getting late. You should go back."

Deep reluctance filled Yan Yichen's eyes, but he still let her go.

"I'll wait for you to have breakfast together tomorrow morning."

Meng Yi'er nodded, her bright eyes gazing at him as she flashed a brilliant smile.

"Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Watching her close the door, cutting off his line of sight to her, Yan Yichen let out a soft sigh, the corners of his lips curling up slightly. His cold and handsome face wore a smile that clashed strangely with his usual demeanor.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Aunt Yun walked out of her room, her kindly face wreathed in broad smiles.

"The young master is back?"

"Yes." Yan Yichen replied as he changed his shoes.

"Aunt Yun, why aren't you asleep yet at this late hour?"

Aunt Yun walked up to the entrance and put the shoes away into the cabinet. "When people get old, they need less sleep... I couldn't fall asleep. Did the young master go out on a date with Miss Meng?"

Yan Yichen smiled faintly, a hard-to-detect trace of shyness flashing through his ink-like dark eyes. "Aunt Yun, go on to sleep now."

Seeing the usually taciturn and stern young master wear a slightly shy smile, the smile on Aunt Yun's face deepened even further. She said with a chuckle:

"Alright, alright... I'm going to sleep, and you should rest early too."

"Alright... Goodnight, Aunt Yun."

Aunt Yun cast a warm, affectionate look at him and turned to walk toward her room on the first floor. After taking just a few steps, she suddenly turned back and said:

"Yichen, the old madam called today. She said she wants to come have a meal with Miss Meng tomorrow."

The more Aunt Yun spoke, the quieter her voice became, casting a guilty glance at him.

"How did grandmother find out?"
