Behind the Yan family's main villa stood a smaller cottage, which was also part of the estate. The housekeeper specifically assigned two servants to look after it, and apart from them, no one else was ever allowed to step even a foot near the place.

Yan Yichen had never been there, until the night of his eighteenth year, when he heard a woman's frantic shrieking echoing from within.

Yan Yichen raised an eyebrow. "However... I've changed my mind now."

"How can you go back on your word?"

"Why can't I?"

Yan Yichen let out a low chuckle, his slender fingers gently pinching her delicate chin.

"Kissing my own girlfriend is only natural. It's not against the law."

"..."

Meng Yi'er rolled her big, round eyes, her brain spinning at the speed of light as she desperately searched for a counterargument.

Yet, in just a single instant, Yan Yichen's lips had already pressed firmly against hers.

"Yan Yichen, you're a liar..."

Meng Yi'er accused him with a blushing face, unable to break free, left with no choice but to passively endure his tender kiss.

Her slightly parted lips exhaled a faint, delicate fragrance. Exercising restraint, Yan Yichen refrained from deepening the kiss; it was merely a light tasting before he quickly released her.

"How can you blame this on me?"

Yan Yichen rested his forehead against hers, his low, husky voice slowly rippling through the air by her ear. A smile curved across his god-like handsome face, carrying even a trace of innocence.

Gazing at his breathtaking smile, Meng Yi'er lost herself for a moment, her heart pounding wildly.

After a long while, she gradually regained her senses and reproached him, "If I don't blame you, who should I blame? Am I supposed to blame myself?"

Was this man capable of reason? Clearly, he was the one who broke his promise, so how could he possibly shift the blame onto someone else?

"Of course I should blame you."

Meng Yi'er was struck speechless with exasperation. "Me? How could it possibly be my fault?"

Yan Yichen smiled, lightly pressing a kiss to her forehead. His dark, fathomless eyes locked onto her face as he gently murmured, "If you weren't so alluring, how could I possibly fail to control myself?"

Shyly lowering her gaze, Meng Yi'er allowed him to hold her. Her flushed little face pressed against his chest, listening to the drum-like beating of his heart, making her blush even more intensely.

After hesitating for a moment, she gently pushed him away. "It's getting late. You should go back."

Deep reluctance lingered in Yan Yichen's eyes, yet he still released her.

"I'll wait for you to have breakfast together tomorrow morning."

Meng Yi'er nodded, her bright eyes gazing at him as she flashed a brilliant, radiant smile.

"Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Watching her close the bedroom door, cutting off the sight between them, Yan Yichen let out a soft sigh. The corners of his lips curved upward slightly, his cold and handsome face bearing a smile completely out of character.

Hearing the door open, Aunt Yun walked out of her room, her kind face wreathed in deep smiles.

"You're back, Young Master?"

"Mhm." Yan Yichen replied as he changed his shoes.

"Aunt Yun, it's so late. Why aren't you asleep yet?"

Aunt Yun walked over to the doorway to place his shoes into the cabinet. "As one gets older, sleep fades... I couldn't sleep. Was the Young Master out on a date with Miss Meng?"

Yan Yichen smiled faintly, a subtle, hard-to-detect trace of shyness flashing through his ink-black eyes. "Go on to bed, Aunt Yun."

Seeing the traditionally taciturn and stern Young Master display a faintly shy smile, Aunt Yun's smile deepened even further. She chuckled and said,

"Alright, alright... I'm going to bed. You should get some rest early too."

"Alright... Goodnight, Aunt Yun."
