Chapter 126: A Deadly Encounter

Meng Yi'er rose quickly. Though puzzled, she followed Ye Zimei’s lead.

Ye Zimei brought her into a dressing room, where a glamorous woman sat, surrounded by two makeup artists meticulously working on her appearance.

Meng Yi'er recognized the woman instantly. She was Ouyang Xi, the starlet she had seen clinging to Yan Yichen at the cocktail party last time. According to Yu Mingxin, she was a very popular actress.

The memory of Ouyang Xi in her revealing dress, pressed tightly against Yan Yichen, made Meng Yi'er feel a sudden wave of discomfort. A flicker of hostility entered her gaze as she looked at the woman. Realizing she was actually feeling jealous of Ouyang Xi, Meng Yi'er shook her head in annoyance, trying to cast the feelings aside.

Ye Zimei walked over to Ouyang Xi, leaned against the vanity, and spoke briskly. "Xi, this is our company's new chief stylist, Meng Yi'er. She will be working with you from now on."

Meng Yi'er stepped forward, suppressing her inner irritation, and extended a hand politely. "Hello. I’ll be your stylist moving forward. Let’s have a pleasant collaboration."

Ouyang Xi cast a sideways glance at Meng Yi'er before returning her attention to her own heavily made-up reflection in the mirror. She picked up her lipstick and applied another layer over her already vivid red lips. Then, she spoke slowly, "A new one? Is she even capable?"

Meng Yi'er stood there awkwardly.

Ye Zimei crossed her arms and leaned against the vanity, stating coldly, "Meng Yi'er is a graduate of Parsons School of Design, and I trust her vision. Besides, you’ve already dismissed two stylists this month. If you aren't satisfied with her, neither the company nor I will be able to meet your demands any longer."

Seeing that Ye Zimei’s mood had soured, and knowing full well that the director had a fiery temper, Ouyang Xi forced a charming smile.

"Alright, alright, Director Ye. I'll keep her, so why get so angry?"
