Has this man lost his mind? Inviting her out to lunch in broad daylight. Has he forgotten who he is? If anyone found out, she would never have a moment’s peace again.
“Please, don’t make a scene… Yi Chen, can I just have dinner with you tonight instead?”
Yan Yi Chen frowned. Of course, he knew how reckless this suggestion was. But he missed her so much, it hurt all over. Even just a glance at her would ease his heart.
A glimmer of light flickered in his dark eyes. After a moment’s hesitation, Yan Yi Chen spoke slowly, “Alright… but tonight you have to follow my plan. Can you do that?”
Meng Yi’er just wanted to calm him down quickly. Without a second thought, she agreed.
“Okay… I promise, I’ll listen to you tonight. Is that good enough?”
Yan Yi Chen smiled with satisfaction. “Good girl…”
…
Meng Yi’er ended the call, looked out the window and sighed deeply. She tugged at the corner of her mouth, forming a perfect curve.

Just as she turned around, she almost bumped into someone. Flustered, Meng Yi’er stepped back two paces, bowing her head with a face full of apologies.
“Ah… sorry, sorry… my apologies.”
“No problem…”
A deep, magnetic male voice came through—steady and reassuring, giving a sense of safety and reliability.
Meng Yi’er looked up and saw a middle-aged man standing before her. Lean and tall, dressed impeccably in a tailored suit, with meticulously groomed short hair. His slender eyes were calm and gentle, exuding a vitality that belied his age. Every movement radiated the air of an elite professional.
The man’s warm gaze studied her for a moment, then he smiled kindly.
“You’re new here?”
Meng Yi’er smiled faintly and nodded respectfully.
“Yes, I’m the new chief stylist… Meng Yi’er.”
“Very good…”
The man nodded, a look of approval on his lean face.
“Working under Director Ye?”
Meng Yi’er nodded, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. Who was this man?
“President Cao, someone from Huashi is here to see you…”
Suddenly, a woman’s voice came from behind. Both turned to see a woman dressed as a secretary approaching.

President Cao nodded at her. “Got it… tell them to wait in my office.”
“Yes, President Cao.”
The secretary left respectfully. The man turned back, still gazing thoughtfully at Meng Yi’er, making her suddenly nervous.
Though it was her first day, she had done her homework. She certainly knew who President Cao was from the secretary’s mention.
Cao Zeyu, the general manager of Xingmei Entertainment’s Haishi branch.
“President Cao… I’m sorry, it’s my first day, so I didn’t recognize you.”
Cao Zeyu waved his hand, a gentle smile on his face.
“Director Ye is very capable, but she’s a bit straightforward. Be careful working under her…”
Meng Yi’er nodded, finding him very approachable.
“Thank you for the reminder, President Cao.”
Cao Zeyu smiled warmly. “Get back to work.”
Meng Yi’er nodded and turned gracefully toward the office area. She spent the entire morning diligently reviewing materials. Everyone was busy with their own tasks and no one paid her much attention.
…
After lunch, just as Meng Yi’er sat back at her desk, Ye Zi Mei came rushing over. She knocked on Meng Yi’er’s desk and said as she walked, “Meng Yi’er… come with me.”
