Chapter 87
The butler returned to Yun Lanzong’s bedroom and recounted everything that had happened in the bathroom. Yun Lanzong quickly asked, “Has he gone far?”
The butler replied, “I don’t know.”
“Useless!” Yun Lanzong snapped at the butler in anger, then turned to Yun Mengxi. “Mengxi, go see him off. Remember, it’s all for the family.”
“Yes,” Yun Mengxi replied, forcing a smile as she touched up her makeup and hurried after him.
Outside the villa, Yun Mengxi saw Ye Fengyun standing still, gazing into the distance.
She ran her fingers through her hair and walked over with graceful, swaying steps. As the renowned beauty of Yunchuan City, her elegant movements highlighted the perfect lines of her long legs.
“What are you looking at?” Yun Mengxi asked with a gentle smile.
Ye Fengyun glanced back at her and said, “Who designed this villa?”
Yun Mengxi paused, confused. “I have no idea. Why do you ask?”
Ye Fengyun narrowed his eyes, pointing first to the foot of the mountain, then to its peak.
“This is a place where yin energy converges. The base of the mountain locks the dragon, the summit imprisons it. The longer it stands, the more intense the sinister energy becomes.”
His words left Yun Mengxi utterly bewildered.
“I don’t really understand,” she admitted, her face blank as she listened to his specialized terms.
Ye Fengyun recalled what he had seen in the basement, and remembered his earlier conversation with Yun Lanzong. An answer was beginning to form in his mind.
“Try not to live here anymore if you can help it,” Ye Fengyun advised.
Yun Mengxi smiled, twirling her hair around her finger as she asked softly, “Are you worried about me?”
“Yes,” Ye Fengyun replied.
“Oh?” Yun Mengxi watched him, her eyes twinkling. “Don’t tell me you have a secret crush on me?”
Ye Fengyun answered, “A healer is compassionate by nature. I treat everyone the same. Besides, your sudden change in attitude—isn’t it because Yun Lanzong told you to act this way?”
Yun Mengxi was startled. This man, who seemed so carefree, was actually sharp-eyed and astute.
I really underestimated him, she thought, her understanding of Ye Fengyun deepening.
Seeing her at a loss for words, Ye Fengyun laughed. “Normally, I wouldn’t turn down such an opportunity when it falls into my lap. But I already have a wife, so I’ll let this one pass.”
For some reason, Yun Mengxi suddenly felt her heart skip a beat.
“Remember what I’ve said: if you can avoid living here, do so,” Ye Fengyun said, waving his hand and heading down the mountain. In the blink of an eye, he had disappeared.
Yun Mengxi stood there in a daze, lost in her thoughts.
When Ye Fengyun returned home, he saw Tang Shihan sitting in the living room, busily writing something.
“Wife, what are you up to?” he asked, moving closer.
Without looking up, Tang Shihan replied, “A week from now, the famous actress Ling Bingbing will be holding a concert in Yunchuan City. Our Tang Group is a media company—if we can establish a connection with her, it would be a huge boost for our future business.”
Ye Fengyun said, “But wife, our wedding is in a week.”
“The wedding can be postponed,” Tang Shihan said, still focused on her work.
When it came to a choice between marriage and her career, Tang Shihan chose the latter.
Ye Fengyun smiled, moving even closer. “But what if Ling Bingbing is coming to Yunchuan for our wedding?”
