Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Old Master Yun gazed at Ye Fengyun with deep admiration, stroking his beard and smiling gently as he nodded. Such prodigious talent, noble medical ethics, and at such a youthful age—truly rare indeed. A gifted child like this is destined for greatness, never to be confined to a small pond. Now that traditional medicine is waning, his emergence may well stir new waves in the field.
“Little Ye, come have a meal with me. There are some matters I’d like to discuss,” Old Master Yun said kindly, his smile warm.
Ye Fengyun felt his stomach growl in agreement and nodded eagerly, laughing, “Alright, that sounds good. I just happen to be hungry myself.”
Old Master Yun led Ye Fengyun away from the National Medical Hall and headed towards Supreme Banquet.
Supreme Banquet was a renowned four-star restaurant in Yunchuan City, famous for its unique reservation system. Ordinary people found it impossible to book a room here, no matter how wealthy they were.
As soon as the two entered the restaurant, Old Master Yun’s phone rang. He glanced at the caller and his brows furrowed.
“Little Ye, go on in first. I need to take this call.”
With those words, Old Master Yun walked to a quiet corner to answer the phone.
Ye Fengyun shrugged helplessly and glanced around. The decor was, he had to admit, quite luxurious.
He surveyed the scene and soon noticed a striking pair entering—a man and a woman who stood out clearly. They were none other than Tang Yilin and Lin Lei.
“Ye Fengyun? What are you doing here? Is this a place you belong?” Tang Yilin sneered.
“Can’t believe I run into that ugly freak everywhere. What rotten luck,” Lin Lei muttered.
Ye Fengyun tilted his head and retorted, “If both of you can come, why can’t I?”
Tang Yilin snorted disdainfully, “Do you really think you’re worthy to compare with us? Don’t you know your own status? A useless good-for-nothing who lives off others—how dare you try to measure up?”
Lin Lei snapped his fingers, and a waiter hurried over. As a frequent guest at Supreme Banquet, most of the staff recognized him and treated him with utmost respect.
“Mr. Lin, at your service,” the waiter said, bowing deeply.
Lin Lei jabbed a finger at Ye Fengyun and scolded, “What’s wrong with you people? Letting such an ugly freak in? He lowers my standards—you understand?”
“My apologies! My deepest apologies!” The waiter bent low in apology and then looked Ye Fengyun up and down, noticing not only his unattractive appearance but also his plain attire—obviously not someone of wealth.
Compared to someone like Lin Lei, offending a nondescript pauper was hardly an issue. In fact, even if they slapped Ye Fengyun’s face right then, it wouldn’t count as an offense—Ye Fengyun wasn’t worth being offended, only deserving of whatever he got.
“We’re fully booked here, and we only serve distinguished guests. You don’t look like someone who can afford it, so do yourself a favor and leave. Don’t disgrace yourself,” the waiter said arrogantly, emboldened by Lin Lei’s presence.
Ye Fengyun had no clue what this was all about and replied honestly, “I don’t know anything about your rules. I’m here because Old Master Yun invited me.”
Upon hearing this, Tang Yilin and Lin Lei burst into laughter.
“You’re killing me—you, an ugly freak, claim to know Old Master Yun?”
“Who do you think you are, daring to mention Old Master Yun? You’re tainting his reputation!”
The waiter scolded, “You’re bluffing without even thinking. Do you know who Old Master Yun is? He’s the owner of the National Medical Hall, renowned for his miraculous healing! If you, an ugly freak, actually know Old Master Yun, I’ll eat every door in this hallway!”
Lin Lei shouted to the security at the entrance, “Come over here and throw this ugly freak out!”
The security guards, all familiar with Lin Lei, rushed over and surrounded Ye Fengyun.
“Sir, please leave immediately.”
“Sir? Calling him ‘sir’ is already giving him too much credit. Being ugly isn’t his fault, but coming out to scare people is!”
“That’s right—get lost before we make you!”
The security guards threatened him fiercely.
“Oh? You want to use force?” Ye Fengyun’s interest was piqued, a sly smile appearing on his face. “Would you like to try?”
The guards cracked their knuckles, ready to act.
Just then, a stern voice cut through the tension.
“What’s going on here!”
Old Master Yun hurried over, standing firmly at Ye Fengyun’s side, his eyes blazing with anger. “What are you doing!”
The waiter, seeing Old Master Yun, quickly bowed and explained deferentially, “Old Master Yun, it’s like this—this ugly freak was using your name to swindle people. We were about to throw him out to protect your reputation.”
“Protect my reputation? Nonsense! He’s my honored guest!” Old Master Yun rebuked.
“What?!” Tang Yilin was stunned.
Lin Lei was dumbstruck.
Everyone present was equally bewildered.
The owner of the National Medical Hall, a titan of the medical world, famed for his miraculous rejuvenating skills, actually called Ye Fengyun—this ugly freak—his honored guest?
“Old Master Yun, please don’t joke. He’s just a useless parasite,” Tang Yilin stammered, sweat forming on her brow.
Old Master Yun snorted coldly, “You call Mr. Ye a good-for-nothing? Are you saying I’m even less than that?”
“No, no, I didn’t mean that,” Tang Yilin said, her forehead drenched in cold sweat.
Old Master Yun turned and, with utmost sincerity, said, “Little Ye, this is my fault—I didn’t arrange things properly. Please don’t take offense.”
The waiter trembled, cold sweat pouring off him.
This young man really did know Old Master Yun?
Ye Fengyun quietly tucked away the silver needle he had hidden between his fingers.
Fortunately Old Master Yun had arrived in time, or these people would have suffered the consequences.
Ye Fengyun looked at the waiter and smiled, “So, which door will you start with?”
“I—I—” The waiter collapsed in fear.
Old Master Yun said icily, “I’ll speak to your manager about this later.”
“No, please, Old Master Yun, I beg you—please don’t!” The waiter knelt on the floor, banging his head in supplication.
Old Master Yun ignored him.
Ye Fengyun yawned, “Can we eat now? I’m starving.”
“Certainly, certainly. Please follow me—I’ve already reserved a private room,” Old Master Yun said, his tone deeply respectful as he led Ye Fengyun inside.
Tang Yilin and Lin Lei stood frozen in place.
Just who was Ye Fengyun? Why did Old Master Yun from the National Medical Hall treat him with such esteem? It made no sense!
Inside the private room, Ye Fengyun grabbed the menu and began ordering dish after dish.
His stomach was on the verge of starvation.
Old Master Yun forced himself to smile despite his heartache. “Little Ye, don’t be shy—order whatever you like.”
Ye Fengyun didn’t hold back, replying casually, “Alright.”
Soon, a feast of rare delicacies appeared on the table.
One meal cost over thirty thousand.
Though Old Master Yun was the owner of the National Medical Hall, he lived frugally. Seeing Ye Fengyun eat so much at such expense made his heart ache.
But he had a favor to ask, so he could only endure the pain, forcing a smile and pretending it was nothing, repeating, “Order whatever you like.”
Ye Fengyun had long since seen through Old Master Yun’s intentions, but pretended not to notice, deliberately teasing him. After all, Old Master Yun had invited him to this meal and made him wait hungry for so long—he deserved a little harmless revenge.
After eating and drinking his fill, Ye Fengyun leaned back in his chair and let out a satisfied burp.
“Old man, go on, what is it you want from me?”
