Chapter 58
Lin Qinghuan understood what Ye Fengyun meant and said, “Go ahead, I’ll follow your lead.”
“You all leave first. This place is mine to handle. No matter what you hear, do not come in. Understood?” Ye Fengyun said seriously.
It was the first time Lin Qinghuan had seen such a stern expression on Ye Fengyun’s face—an unexpected aura of command.
“All right. Butler, let’s go,” Lin Qinghuan said.
The butler frowned, “Miss, you can’t trust others so easily.”
Old Yun said, “I can vouch for him with my character and the reputation of the Hall of National Medicine. Young Ye is trustworthy.”
The butler still wanted to protest, but seeing Lin Qinghuan’s resolute expression, he chose to compromise.
“Fine. But, boy, listen well—if anything happens to the old lady, you’ll regret ever being born.”
Ye Fengyun grew impatient, “You listen as well. Do as you’re told and leave. No one is allowed in, no matter what.”
The butler snorted and led everyone out.
“You don’t have to leave,” Ye Fengyun called after Lin Qinghuan.
“Huh? Why?” she asked, puzzled.
“You’re her direct granddaughter, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then you’re useful. Stay.”

Ye Fengyun took her hand and brought her to the old lady’s bedside.
“Your grandmother is under a curse right now. She needs your blood. It’s maiden’s blood, isn’t it?” Ye Fengyun asked.
Lin Qinghuan blushed and scolded, “What kind of question is that?”
“I’m being quite serious,” he replied.
Lin Qinghuan pouted, annoyed, “Obviously, yes.”
“Good.” Ye Fengyun suddenly pricked her index finger with a silver needle.
“Ouch! What are you doing?”
“Shh, don’t speak.”
Ye Fengyun pressed his finger to hers, gently pulled apart, and a thin, red line of blood stretched between their fingertips.
Lin Qinghuan stared in shock, as if watching something out of a fantasy film.
Ye Fengyun pinched the blood thread, drew a circle in the air, and chanted a spell. A talisman appeared at the center of the circle, hovering like a holographic projection.
“Step back,” Ye Fengyun ordered.
“Oh.” Lin Qinghuan quickly retreated.

Suddenly, the old lady on the bed convulsed and let out a piercing, infant-like scream.
“Ah!!!”
The sound was shrill and deafening, making everyone uncomfortable.
“Qinghuan, save Grandma!” the old lady cried out to Lin Qinghuan.
“Grandma!” Lin Qinghuan’s eyes turned red.
Ye Fengyun snapped, “Your grandmother is still unconscious. That’s not your grandmother!”
“Butler, come in and save me!” the old lady screamed in agony.
Hearing this from outside, the butler ignored Old Yun’s attempts to stop him and forced the door open.
“Boy, I knew you were up to no good!”
