Chapter 14
“Does this look familiar to you?”
Xu Dahai produced the camera.
Ye Fengyun smiled and replied, “Somewhat.”
A dangerous glint flashed in Xu Dahai’s eyes, but he quickly changed his expression, smiling at Ye Fengyun.
“Name your terms.”
Ye Fengyun sat down on his genuine leather sofa, crossed his legs, and said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Xu Dahai stepped closer. “I’ll give you ten million, plus shares in Company One. You keep your mouth shut about this.”
Ye Fengyun nonchalantly cleaned his ear, as if he couldn’t care less.
Xu Dahai pressed on, “Fifty million, plus shares in Company Two, and I’ll throw in a villa as well.”
Ye Fengyun’s indifference did not change.
Xu Dahai slammed his hand on the table, his tone turning icy with threat. “Ye Fengyun, don’t be ungrateful. I’m being civil with you now. If you don’t accept my offer, then this will be far from a simple transaction.”
Ye Fengyun gazed at Xu Dahai with interest. “There’s something I’m quite curious about. Have you never considered that Elder Xu might not actually be dead?”
“Not dead? Even if those servants had a thousand lives, would they dare deceive me?” Xu Dahai scoffed. “And even if he wasn’t dead, what could he do? The second brother lost all authority long ago. I’m the sole heir to the family now.”
“So, you think Elder Xu’s death is justified?” Ye Fengyun asked with a smile.
Xu Dahai sneered, “Don’t try to trick me. I’ll ask you one last time: are you going to cooperate or not?”
Ye Fengyun shook his head.
Xu Dahai’s voice was frigid. “Then prepare to die. Tomorrow morning’s news will report this: ‘A man, drunk at night, drives his car off the road and into the sea, dead on arrival.’”
Xu Dahai took a step closer, his voice cold and sinister. “And of course, it won’t be just you. The Tang family will also be dealt with. You know full well the power of the Xu family. Crushing the Tang family is easier for me than squashing an ant.”
“Is that so?”
A voice, trembling with suppressed anger, sounded from behind Xu Dahai.
“Of course!” Xu Dahai had not yet realized the gravity of the situation. But when he recognized the speaker, his face turned deathly pale.
He spun around, only to see Elder Xu, Xu Liangtian, standing behind him, his hair bristling in rage, eyes blazing.

Standing beside Elder Xu were the astonished Xu Zhengfeng and the cold-eyed Xu Meijiao.
“Brother, why?” Xu Zhengfeng asked, disbelief written all over his face.
Xu Dahai still played dumb. “Why what?”
Xu Zhengfeng, unable to believe his own brother, asked, “Were the people blocking me from coming home, the ones not letting me in, your doing?”
Xu Dahai sneered, “My doing? Xu Zhengfeng, are you trying to frame me? You set up Father, poisoned him and pinned it on me, then tried to take over the Xu family from my hands, didn’t you? What a scheme!”
He turned to Xu Liangtian, instantly switching to a sobbing tone.
“Father, you’re alive! Thank goodness! It’s all thanks to this talented healer. Without him, I might never have seen you again! I must thank him properly.”
Xu Liangtian nearly vomited blood from anger at this shameless act.
“Xu Dahai! Get down on your knees!” he roared.
Xu Dahai shuddered in fear, confused. “Father, what’s the meaning of this?”
“What’s the meaning? You think I’m senile?” Xu Liangtian shouted furiously.
“Father, don’t listen to a word that scoundrel says! He’s just trying to drive a wedge between us and reap the benefits! He planned all of this, tried to kill you and blame me!”
Seeing Xu Dahai unmoved, Xu Liangtian turned to Elder Yun. “Yun, if you would.”
“Very well.”
Elder Yun glanced at Xu Dahai, advising kindly, “Master Xu, you’d best confess now.”
“Elder Yun, even you think I’m that kind of person? If the two people I respect most suspect me, what point is there in living?”
He spoke as if he truly intended to die to prove his innocence.
Elder Yun shook his head and walked to the projector.
Xu Dahai looked at Xu Liangtian with wounded eyes, choking out, “Father, I cared for you when you were gravely ill! I assisted you in running the company! And what did the second brother ever do? He didn’t even come to see you!”
Xu Zhengfeng explained, “Father, every time I tried to come home, I was blocked. When I did make it, the servants wouldn’t let me see you, and someone even told me you were in good health and didn’t want to see me, urging me to leave quickly.”
“Nonsense!” Xu Dahai shouted in anger.
Xu Meijiao stepped aside, opening a path for the butler to enter.
“Butler, tell them,” Xu Meijiao instructed.
The butler, trembling, confessed everything Xu Dahai had ordered him to do.

Xu Dahai burst out laughing. “Ha! Keep acting! Father, don’t believe them—they’re all in on this together!
“Think about it: if you died, who would benefit the most? Me, right? That makes me the obvious suspect. I’d be taken away as the primary suspect. And in the end, who would truly benefit? The second brother, Xu Zhengfeng!
“If I really wanted to be heir, why would I need to kill you? As the eldest son, I’m already the heir. Why would I need to kill you? Answer me!”
Elder Yun exchanged a glance with Xu Liangtian.
Xu Liangtian nodded, took a deep breath, and looked at his rebellious son. “I’m giving you one last chance.”
“Father, you must believe me, I—”
Suddenly, the projector lit up, and the footage from the camera was played in its entirety.
Xu Dahai was stunned, staring at the images in disbelief.
“How—”
He was utterly confounded. That recording should have been in Ye Fengyun’s hands. How did it end up with the old man?
“Kneel!”
With a thud, Xu Dahai dropped to his knees, kowtowing and begging for mercy. “Father, spare me! I was blinded by a moment’s madness!”
“You beast!”
Xu Liangtian kicked him hard. “I raised you with my own two hands, devoted my heart and soul to cultivating you, and this is how you repay me? You thankless animal!”
Xu Liangtian unleashed a torrent of curses, each word fanning the flames of resentment that Xu Dahai had suppressed for years.
“Shut up, you old fool!”
Xu Dahai sprang to his feet with a furious roar, stunning everyone present.
“You raised me? I worked through the night doing your accounts, handled every matter for you, poured my very soul into managing the company! And in the end, what did I get? Why? What makes me inferior to the second brother?!”
