Chapter 115
Chapter 115
However, Madam Lin’s gaze was somewhat unusual. Dark circles under her eyes clearly indicated poor sleep, yet her eyes gleamed with vitality, hardly the look of someone restless. Moreover, there was a strange glint deep within her eyes—an almost predatory gleam, as if she had spotted her prey.
“Mom, happy birthday,” Lin Yuzhen said as she arrived with her family.
“Yuzhen, you’re here,” the matriarch smiled faintly and then looked toward Tang Shihan. “Shihan, where is your husband?”
Just as Tang Shihan was about to speak, Lin Yuzhen quickly interjected, “Feng Yun had some last-minute business. He’s expected to arrive later.”
“Our mother’s birthday is such an important occasion. Couldn’t he postpone it?” Lin Heng, the eldest son, said displeased.
As the president of the Lin Group, Lin Heng was known for his strictness—not only with himself but also with his family, colleagues, and subordinates. Having long been accustomed to issuing orders at work, he carried a commanding tone at home that was often grating.
At that moment, Lin Lei and Tang Yilin arrived.
“Grandma, happy birthday,” Lin Lei said with an awkward smile.
The Lin family ignored him, treating him coldly.
That was because Lin Lei was not truly one of them. His mother, Xu Manzhen, was an actress—seductive and charming, skilled in captivating men, well-versed in music and performance. Her talents and allure had ensnared Lin Heng, who was helplessly drawn to her.
In truth, Xu Manzhen had ascended as a mistress; Lin Lei was not Lin Heng’s biological son. In other words, Lin Heng had taken on another man’s child.
“Dad,” Lin Lei called out awkwardly to Lin Heng.
“Hmm, sit down,” Lin Heng responded without looking his way.
Lin Lei nervously led Tang Yilin to their seats.
“Everyone is mostly here. Only Feng Yun and Qing Huan are missing,” the matriarch said with a smile.
Lin Heng shot a reproachful look at Lin Yuzhen. “What exactly is Ye Feng Yun doing? Call him and check.”
“He’s probably busy,” Lin Yuzhen replied, sweat beading on her forehead.
“Call him!” Lin Heng’s displeasure grew. “Doesn’t he know what day it is today?”
“No need to call. He’s not coming,” Tang Shihan said coldly, recounting everything. “He betrayed me. I’ve kicked him out of the house.”
Her words caused an uproar.
“What? Ye Feng Yun cheated?”
“But they just got married!”
Lin Yuzhen looked helpless. This damn child never said a word.
As everyone exchanged glances, the door opened and Lin Qinghuan and Ye Fengyun entered together.
“Hey, isn’t that Ye Feng Yun?”
“Why is he here?”
“How dare he show up?”
Everyone looked at Ye Feng Yun with knowing, mischievous eyes.
Lin Qinghuan was puzzled by their odd gazes.
“Qinghuan, stay away from him,” Lin Heng warned.
“Dad, why?” Qinghuan asked, confused.
Tang Shihan answered for him, “Ye Feng Yun betrayed me. I’ve already thrown him out.”
“Ah?!” Qinghuan gasped, staring at Ye Feng Yun in disbelief. “You cheated? Is that true?”
Ye Fengyun gave a faint, sardonic smile at Tang Shihan and, uninterested in explanations, sat down.
“You still have the nerve to sit?” Lin Lei sneered.
As long as the blame was directed at Ye Feng Yun, Lin Lei felt his own pressure ease, so he did his best to turn everyone’s anger toward him.
Ye Fengyun retorted sharply, “You’re sitting, so why can’t I? Have you forgotten the dirty things you did that night?”
Lin Lei’s face instantly drained of color.
