Chapter 126: A Real Man Should Be Like This
In their hideout, Li Chengfu was roasting a massive wing of a flying beast.
“It took me two hours to find such a huge exotic creature, nearly possessing the strength of nine dragons. I’m sure this wing will taste incredible once roasted.”
Beside him, Xu Chen couldn’t help but swallow as he watched the wing sizzle and drip with oil.
“My cooking skills have been honed by the top chefs of Leizhou’s capital. I guarantee we won’t waste a single bit of this giant wing,” Li Chengfu said happily, his face full of hopeful fantasies about the future.
At that moment, a figure descended from the cliff into the valley below, heading straight for their hideout.
“Junior brother, have you recovered?” Zong Changshou asked, sensing the aura from Xu Chen, his tone tinged with surprise.
“More than recovered; his strength has advanced another level,” Li Chengfu interjected quickly.
“That’s wonderful news!” Zong Changshou said, pulling out a map and spreading it before the three of them, ready to share the intelligence they had gathered during their exploration.
Several points were circled in red on the map.
“We wasted too much time earlier. Now that I’m back in shape, it’s time to get down to business,” Xu Chen said, eyeing the red-marked spots.
Besides the red circles, some points were circled in black.
Li Chengfu pointed to one of the black-circled marks on the map.
“What does that represent?” he asked, curious.
“Those are alien camps, all occupied by upper-rank beings,” Zong Changshou explained.
Upon hearing this, Xu Chen’s eyes lit up.
“After we finish eating and resting, let’s set out to deal with these alien encampments first. Since our strength has improved, even if we can’t surpass the limit of the Vitality Realm, we should still be able to easily crush the weaker ones.”
“Agreed,” Li Chengfu and Zong Changshou nodded.
Five hours later, outside one of the alien camps.
Li Chengfu and Zong Changshou stared dumbfounded at a massive pit shaped like a giant handprint.
The pit was as large as half a basketball court and a deep ten feet.
At the center of the pit lay the alien camp, emitting an intense heat as if scorched by a raging fire.
Xu Chen descended from the sky to stand beside the two, surveying the scene.
“Let’s see if there’s any loot. If anything’s damaged, next time I’ll be gentler,” he said, scratching his head.
“I’ll go check,” Li Chengfu volunteered, rushing into the pit. Soon, he laid everything out before Xu Chen.
Four inheritance artifacts, three damaged magical treasures, and three mysterious black beads of unknown purpose.
“Not bad at all. Let’s move on to the next one.”
For a time afterward, under Zong Changshou’s guidance, the three of them darted across the ancient battlefield.
The items gathered on the Phantom Dragon Horse kept piling up until they resembled a small mountain.
“Let’s find another place to stash the treasure,” Li Chengfu said reluctantly. These mountains of treasure had become his daily joy.
“No need to look elsewhere. The place where junior brother recuperated is perfect,” Zong Changshou suggested after examining another map.
“Right in the center of the battlefield and well concealed.”
“When we leave in the last month, we won’t have to travel far to retrieve these treasures.”
Agreeing, the three returned to the bottom of the rift valley, hid their hoard, and set off lightly equipped.
Night fell over the ancient battlefield, and for the first time in ages, stars appeared in the sky.
The three, with their horse, slowly advanced toward the center of the battlefield.
The closer they got, the stronger the aliens they encountered, and the more abundant the spoils.
In the middle, they returned once more to the stash to hide the latest haul.
“Today marks exactly the fifth month since we entered. The gains have far exceeded expectations.”
“The only regret is that for those great family inheritances, we only received scraps,” Zong Changshou summarized, holding a small notebook.
The mention of this made Xu Chen uneasy. After his power surged, he had encountered another major inheritance—this time from the Tianluo clan.
The trial was held inside a sacred mountain’s spiritual treasure. Combat was easy for Xu Chen, but when it came to other aspects, especially the Dao inscriptions, he was utterly baffled.
“If you can’t obtain the inheritance, it’s fate. There’s nothing you can do,” Xu Chen sighed.
Just then, a thunderous roar shattered the silence of the ancient battlefield.
“Boom!”
Not far from the center, it looked as though countless thunder dragons were rampaging wildly.
Lightning bolts pierced the sky like thunderclaps, visible from great distances.
“Another large-scale inheritance,” the three said in unison, instinctively changing course toward the lightning’s origin.
Lightning intermittently surged through the heavens, attracting everyone across the battlefield, including the alien clans of the Holy Spirit Celestial Court.
Along the way, Xu Chen casually eliminated any aliens they encountered.
Observing the formidable presence of Xu Chen, human factions quickly formed alliances and grouped together.
A gate composed entirely of lightning appeared before the humans and the Holy Spirit Celestial Court aliens.
“This must be the rarest of the Thunder Spirit clan. The Muling clan among humans has records of them,” one human explained to the others.
“They were eradicated by the combined forces of the ancient clans because their individual strength was too overwhelming.”
At that moment, a path formed from the gate, stretching backward indefinitely.
At the end of the lightning path stood a throne radiating thunderous energy.
A faint, ethereal voice echoed in the minds of all humans and aliens alike.
“Whoever sits upon this throne shall inherit the legacy of my Thunder Spirit clan.”
Hearing this, the humans hesitated. How could those at the limit of the Vitality Realm withstand such thunderous might?
In any case, someone from the aliens would surely take the lead.
Suddenly, an upper-rank alien seized a mid-rank one and threw him into the gate of lightning.
This immediately stirred those watching on the human side.
Though the mid-rank alien screamed in agony after being thrown in, he was not struck down by the lightning as expected.
He managed to take several steps along the thunderous path despite the numbing sensations wracking his soul.
But after less than a mile, he could no longer bear it and retreated.
He ran back to the upper-rank alien who had tossed him, whispering cautiously.
“I don’t know if we should act. It might be best not to make the first move.”
“If those aliens enter the lightning gate, we’ll be forced to follow.”
The group began to strategize, wary of a sudden strike from the Holy Spirit Celestial Court aliens.
Among the crowd, Xu Chen spotted Tong Xuanyi, one of the Holy Spirit Celestial Court’s elite.
Just as he contemplated making a move, a large hand suddenly landed on his shoulder.
“You’ve recovered quickly,” a voice said arrogantly.
Xu Chen turned, startled.
A tall man with somewhat unkempt hair and attire, a smirk playing on his lips, stood before him.
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Xu Chen quickly cupped his fists in salute.
“Thank you for saving my life, Daoist Xiao.”
“Don’t be so formal. I’m your little senior ancestor, your little brother. Your name is Xu Chen, right?”
“We’ll talk more when there’s time. This is the first time I’ve seen someone with such weak Vitality power survive against a Vitality Realm limit alien.”
“By the way, I’m Xiao Wanshi.”
After speaking, the tall figure wove through the crowd and approached the group of Holy Spirit Celestial Court aliens.
Upon seeing Xiao Wanshi, the top-tier aliens among them immediately stepped back, their faces wary.
Tong Xuanyi watched Xiao Wanshi with a mixed expression.
“Everyone get lost!” Xiao Wanshi’s arrogant voice rang out.
“The inheritance of the Thunder Spirit clan belongs to us humans.”
The Holy Spirit Celestial Court clan stiffened, sensing a grave threat.
“On what grounds?” Tong Xuanyi and another upper-rank alien stepped forward.
“If you don’t leave, I’ll set aside everything else and focus solely on killing you Holy Spirit Celestial Court prodigies.”
“The inheritance treasures belong to the Holy Spirit Celestial Court, but your lives are your own. Think carefully,” Xiao Wanshi said with a dangerous smile.
The upper-rank aliens of the Holy Spirit Celestial Court exchanged glances and then departed with their group.
“Just like that?” Xu Chen was stunned.
“From what I’ve gathered, Tong Xuanyi is the only one within the Holy Spirit Celestial Court who can barely match our Xiao prodigy.”
“If it weren’t for more important matters, we’d have targeted Tong Xuanyi for elimination long ago.”
“When that time comes, every capable upper-rank of the Holy Spirit Celestial Court will die,” Zong Changshou explained through their spiritual link.
After the Holy Spirit Celestial Court left, Xiao Wanshi’s voice came through.
“Brothers, I don’t have much time to spare. Consider thisI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
