Chapter 115: Letters from Three People

Due to the small size of the Kadero Province, the eligible noble troops were consolidated into the Sairope Legion to fight together. As the commander of the kingdom’s Sixteenth Knights, Medmonchi served as the deputy commander of the Sairope Legion, unifying command over the Sixteenth Knights of the kingdom, the Sixth Corps temporarily reorganized from the noble troops of Kadero Province, and the Seventh Corps formed from the provincial army of Kadero.
A letter revealed a piece of news: if Viren was willing, Medmonchi could arrange for him to join the logistics and transport unit, responsible for transporting supplies and earning military merit.
“A wide network of connections is truly advantageous. Even if I don’t seek information, others will provide it accordingly.”
However, his own father played a crucial role in this. Without his father, why would Medmonchi, as the commander of the Sixteenth Knights, personally write to him?
He had no intention of participating in this military campaign originally, but now that the opportunity had come, it seemed unreasonable not to go.
“Master, a knight requests an audience, claiming to be sent by your elder brother,” Kyle reported as he entered the study and addressed Viren.
“Take him to the great hall. I will be there shortly.”
“Yes, Master.”
After Kyle left, Viren folded Medmonchi’s letter and placed it in the drawer. After tidying his attire, he rose and headed to the great hall.
At this moment, in the castle’s great hall, a man clad in silver-gray armor stood silently in the center, waiting for the lord of the place to arrive.
“Calons, it’s you?” Viren was surprised upon recognizing the visitor.
“Master Viren, long time no see. Your strength has improved greatly; you truly impress me,” Calons said respectfully, striking his chest in salute.
“I never expected my elder brother would send you here.”
“I recall my elder brother took trials under Count Iverios of the Hurricane, Uncle Iverios. Could it be…”
“Master Viren, you are correct,” Calons explained with a smile. “Count Iverios of the Hurricane now commands the Dani Legion, overseeing all military forces in Dani Province, conducting operations across the Gray Fang Wasteland.”
“So that means my elder brother is going to the battlefield too.”
“Yes, Master Viren. Lord Iverios has entrusted the Hurricane Legion in his hands to my liege, Lord Ilisis.”
Viren was deeply shocked by this.
The Hurricane Legion was Count Iverios’s ace force, second only to his other trump card, the Hurricane Knights, a Mika-level Silver Knights unit.

As far as Viren knew, the Hurricane Legion had existed for over two hundred years, numbering thirty thousand, with the lowest rank being bronze level, divided into six battalions, each with its own title.
Of course, the Hurricane family alone could not sustain this legion. Therefore, several other counts from the Ex family annually supplied personnel and materials to ensure the legion’s formidable combat power.
“So, what brings you here?” Viren looked at Calons, inquiring about his purpose.
“My liege, Lord Ilisis, learned that you have become a pioneer knight and will need military merits to advance your title. Thus, he commanded me to invite you to join the Dani Legion.”
“Well… that doesn’t seem right. The distance is so great. How could I transport the army there?” Viren hesitated before asking.
Calons smiled tactfully and glanced at Kyle beside him, his intention clear.
“He is my guardian knight, a person I trust.”
With Viren’s affirmation, Calons revealed the solution.
“Master Viren, you don’t need to bring a single soldier. You only need to travel to Dani Province alone. Then, my liege will assign a battalion of five thousand troops from Count Iverios’s Hurricane Legion to your command. You will lead this force to join the noble allied army.”
“Cough, cough, cough,” Viren looked at Calons in disbelief. “Does Uncle Iverios know about this?”
“Count Iverios is naturally fully aware,” Calons answered with absolute certainty.
Viren fell into deep thought.
No doubt, his elder brother must have implored Uncle Iverios to help him in this way.
After some time, Viren decided to accept Medmonchi’s proposal to join the logistics unit of the Sairope Legion and serve in transport.
Following his elder brother’s plan would earn him considerable military merits, but it was not conducive to cultivating his own network of relationships in Kadero Province.
Even if he quickly rose in rank, other nobles would criticize him. Though not openly, they would scheme against him behind his back.
Moreover, it was easy to see why his elder brother devised such a scheme.
Clearly, his brother had long considered Viren’s lazy nature and wanted to help him in this manner. But Viren was no longer the sloth he once was.
“Calons, please tell my elder brother that I want to achieve success through my own efforts. I appreciate his kindness.”
“Master Viren, you have truly grown,” Calons said with amazement and heartfelt admiration.
“Hahaha, absence makes the heart grow fonder,” Viren replied proudly.

Hearing Calons’s words, Viren couldn’t help but speak with some pride.
“Master Viren, since the matter is settled, I shall take my leave.”
“Tell my elder brother that when we meet next time, I will present him with a precious gift. He should look forward to it.”
“Yes, Master Viren.”
After Calons departed, Viren returned to his study and began drafting a reply to Medmonchi.
Half an hour later, having finished the letter and prepared it for delivery, just as he was about to send Kyle to dispatch it, unexpectedly, Kyle returned holding another letter.
“Master, your third uncle has sent you a letter.”
“What’s going on today? So many people are sending me letters,” Viren said, somewhat bewildered as he took the letter from Kyle and opened it to read.
Dear Nephew Viren,
I have received your elder brother’s letter. I did not expect you to be in Kadero Province.
Your third uncle is doing well. I am now deputy commander of the kingdom’s Seventeenth Corps. Although it is a garrison unit, I have been assigned to the Sairope Legion. With my position and strength, I hold some influence. Your provincial noble troops have also been incorporated into the Sairope Legion. If you wish to participate in this military campaign, you may seek me out. I will do my utmost to assist you.
Sincerely,
Barmond Ex
“Well, I…” Viren glanced at the letter he had just written to Medmonchi, unsure of what to say.
It was clear this letter was from his father, asking his third uncle to look after him.
“Never mind, I’ll discuss this when I see my third uncle.”
Viren folded the letter and handed the one he wrote to Medmonchi to Kyle for delivery.
The final assembly date was set for late December. During this time, he needed to handle his title promotion and the Silver Dragon incident properly.
