Chapter 72: Then Kill One and Show Me
“Don’t you dare harm Chief Xie!”
At that moment, a deep voice echoed through the air.
In the next instant, two figures appeared before Xie Wei at lightning speed. One of them struck out with a palm, meeting the assailant’s hand with a resounding clash.
With a boom, both parties staggered back several steps.
Xie Wei opened her eyes just then, surprised to see Hong Jinlong and Zheng Yuan. “Why are you two here?”
“Chief Xie, are you all right? Young Master Su told us you were in danger and sent us to assist you,” Zheng Yuan replied.
Fortunately, they’d arrived in time. If anything had happened to Xie Wei, not only would they have failed to help, but they would also have lost standing in Su Yifan’s eyes. That would have been a heavy price to pay.
Hearing it was Su Yifan who’d sent them, Xie Wei felt an inexplicable warmth in her heart. So, that guy is safe. Wait—why do I even care about him?
“Who are you people? How dare you cause trouble on my turf?” Hong Jinlong demanded, voice cold as he eyed the three strangers before him. He didn’t recognize any of them—they clearly weren’t from Cloud City. Why had they come, and why were they attacking Chief Xie?
“Big brother, what do we do?” one of the men asked, retreating to his leader’s side.
“What’s there to fear? They’re just a peak Grandmaster and a mid-stage Grandmaster—two nobodies.” The leader, a middle-aged man, sneered and stepped forward. “I advise you to stay out of this, unless you want to die.”
“Ridiculous. Do you think I’d be afraid?” Hong Jinlong retorted icily.
Ever since he’d taken the pill Su Yifan gave him, he’d been training in seclusion. Now, he had broken through to the peak of the Grandmaster realm himself. Of the three before him, two were also at the peak, but the leader’s martial aura was even stronger—he must be a Grandmaster Supreme.
Yet, even so, Hong Jinlong could not back down—not when this was a task entrusted to him by Young Master Su.
Since the intruders refused to leave, the leader’s voice turned frosty. “If you insist on courting death, don’t blame me.” He nodded to his men. “You two take care of them—leave this one to me!”
“Yes, big brother,” the other two responded.
All three attacked at once.
“Be careful,” Hong Jinlong warned, stepping forward to meet the leader head-on with a punch.
Their fists collided with a thunderous crash.
Hong Jinlong was sent stumbling backward by the blow, while the leader didn’t budge an inch.
“With such pitiful strength, you dare meddle in my affairs?” the man scoffed.
He advanced again, launching another assault.
Very soon, the two were locked in fierce combat.
“Too slow, far too slow. Your movements are pathetic,” the leader taunted, unleashing a flurry of punches. Within moments, Hong Jinlong was overwhelmed and sent flying.
On the other side, Xie Wei and Zheng Yuan were faring no better. One was already injured, and the other, only a mid-stage Grandmaster, was quickly defeated after just a few exchanges.
“I’m sorry, I’ve dragged you both into this,” Xie Wei said guiltily. She wouldn’t have minded dying alone, but now she’d implicated Hong Jinlong and Zheng Yuan as well.
“No need for apologies, Chief Xie,” Hong Jinlong replied, shaking his head. “Even if we die today, I believe Young Master Su will avenge us.”
He turned to glare at their three adversaries. “Don’t get too pleased with yourselves. When Young Master Su returns, he’ll kill you all to avenge us.”
“Kill us? Ha!” The leader burst out laughing. “We came to Cloud City for the sole purpose of killing him. If he doesn’t show, so much the better. But if he does, I’ll slaughter him like a dog.”
His companions laughed along with him.
Just then—a powerful voice rang out.
“Oh? Then why don’t you show me how you’d kill someone?”
“Who’s there? Who’s playing tricks?” the leader barked. “Show yourself—”
Before he could finish, his body exploded in a spray of blood and mist.
“Big brother!” his two companions cried, looking around in alarm.
“It’s Young Master Su! He’s back!” Hong Jinlong exclaimed, overjoyed.
Zheng Yuan’s face lit up with excitement as well.
Thank heaven! Young Master Su had finally returned.
As Xie Wei scanned the area, a strong sense of safety welled up in her heart. It was him—he had come back. That man… he was here.
At that moment, a figure clad in white descended from the sky like a god. As he landed, a terrifying pressure slammed down on the two remaining enemies.
Before they could react, the weight upon them felt like a mountain; both collapsed to their knees.
Su Yifan landed gracefully before them.
Seeing that it truly was Young Master Su, Hong Jinlong and Zheng Yuan exchanged a glance, their hearts elated beyond measure.
Xie Wei gazed at the man’s back, her cheeks flushing as her heart pounded uncontrollably.
What’s happening to me? Why do I feel like this? Could it be… No, impossible! How could I think of him that way?
“You seem quite arrogant,” Su Yifan said, his voice icy as he looked down at the two kneeling men.
“Who… who are you?” one of them managed to ask, his voice strained.
But before he could finish, he was crushed in an instant—reduced to a mist of blood that scattered in the wind.
Su Yifan turned his gaze to the last survivor. “Tell me—who are you, and why have you come for me?”
Come for him? Could this young man really be the one who killed Third Madam? That’s impossible. How could someone so young and powerful be the killer?
Descending from the sky—only a Grandmaster Supreme could do that.
No—it can’t be. Does that mean this man is a Grandmaster Supreme?
“You’ll never know! I’d rather die than tell you,” the man spat, preparing to bite his tongue and end his life.
“Want to die?” Su Yifan flicked his finger, and the man found himself paralyzed, unable to move his mouth no matter how hard he tried.
“Do you really think your silence makes a difference?” Su Yifan pressed a finger to the man’s forehead.
“What… what are you doing?” the man stammered, panic flickering in his eyes. For reasons he couldn’t explain, he felt that this person was no ordinary man. In front of him, there was no such thing as privacy.
“Soul Search.”
Su Yifan didn’t bother with further conversation. Instantly, the man let out a blood-curdling scream, but it lasted only a moment before he fell silent.
Everything buried deep in his mind was laid bare before Su Yifan—last night’s escapades with several women, the strenuous feats he performed—nothing was hidden.
Of course, Su Yifan skimmed past those trivial memories. Soon, he found the answer he sought.
“The Ma family of Beichuan. Excellent.”
Having learned what he needed, Su Yifan flicked his finger and the last man dissolved into a mist of blood.
