Chapter 53: Is There Anyone Else Who Wants to Reason With Me?
Upon hearing the words of the burly bald man, everyone’s expression grew grave and they immediately prepared themselves. Yet when Su Yifan stepped forward, the group saw that the newcomer was nothing but a young man, and their taut nerves finally relaxed.
“You, skulking around behind us—are you planning to ambush us?” the bald man asked in a deep voice.
In these desolate hills, the sudden appearance of anyone was suspicious; he couldn’t believe for a second that Su Yifan was just an ordinary person.
Su Yifan replied, “Please don’t misunderstand. I came here with my family, but I accidentally got separated from them.”
Upon hearing that he belonged to another family, the bald man’s group grew instantly wary. Was he truly lost, or was he deliberately infiltrating their ranks?
“If you lost your way, then which family are you from?” the bald man pressed.
They were a makeshift team of martial artists, who had agreed to join forces and split the treasure evenly. Bringing in someone from another family could spell trouble, especially since they knew nothing of his background. It was imperative to clarify the matter.
Realizing the man was probing for his origins, Su Yifan hesitated. What should he do? He didn’t know any families—wait, actually, there was one.
With that thought, Su Yifan answered, “To be honest, I’m from the Xiao family of Jinling.”
When he claimed to be a Xiao, the bald man’s group narrowed their eyes, suspicion written across their faces. Could it really be so coincidental? Or did these men have a grudge against the Xiao family?
Just as Su Yifan was about to fabricate an excuse, the bald man spoke again, “You say you’re from the Xiao family. As it happens, I know some of them. What’s your name?”
A name? He wanted details now? Su Yifan racked his brain and quickly offered, “My name is Xiao Yan.”
“Xiao Yan?” The bald man, previously uncertain, burst out laughing when he heard the name.
“Kid, there’s no Xiao Yan among the Xiao family disciples. Who are you, really? Or were you sent to spy on us?”
“Speak the truth, or else don’t blame us for being rough!”
At his words, the group behind him all wore angry expressions. Daring to infiltrate their ranks—this boy had guts!
Now that he was exposed, Su Yifan decided to drop the pretense. He smiled and said, “I had hoped to speak to you as an ordinary person, but since you won’t cooperate, I’ll have to try another approach.”
Hearing this, the bald man’s group paused, then collectively burst into laughter.
“Haha, kid, do you even know what you’re saying?”
“That’s hilarious—another approach, you say? I’d love to see what you have in mind.”
As soon as the speakers finished, Su Yifan waved his hand toward them.
In the next instant—
With a thunderous blast, the two men were reduced to clouds of blood.
Witnessing this, the laughter died abruptly on everyone’s lips.
What in the world—what kind of power was that? It was terrifying!
Su Yifan smiled faintly, “Go on, laugh. Why have you stopped? Weren’t you so full of mirth a moment ago?”
Only then did the bald man’s group realize how foolish their actions had been.
The two who just died were both peak Martial Masters, yet they had been slain so effortlessly.
Among them, the bald man was the strongest, a mid-stage Grandmaster, but even he couldn’t have accomplished such a feat.
That meant this mysterious young man’s power surpassed even a mid-stage Grandmaster.
With that realization, the bald man’s mocking expression quickly became serious. “Young—no, honored sir, may I ask who you are?”
“Why aren’t you laughing?” Su Yifan said calmly.
“No, no, we won’t laugh, never again,” the bald man and his group waved their hands frantically, faces full of fear, the bravado gone.
To kill two peak Martial Masters with a mere gesture—he was not to be trifled with.
Indeed, sometimes fists speak louder than words.
Seeing their compliance, Su Yifan got straight to the point. “Tell me, where are the Xiao family now?”
“Those who provide information may live.”
At that, the group exchanged uneasy glances, none willing to speak first.
It wasn’t ignorance, but the pride of martial artists; anyone who broke the silence would be shunned forever in their circles.
Seeing their silence, Su Yifan wasted no words and flicked three streams of energy at them.
In the next moment—
Three heads exploded among the crowd.
A gasp swept through the group.
Another three dead—was this man a demon?
“What do you mean by this? Killing at a whim—do you take us for nothing?” a Grandmaster at the early stage couldn’t help but protest.
But as soon as he finished—
With a thunderous blast, the Grandmaster was killed instantly, his blood splattering those nearby.
“Who else wishes to reason with me? Don’t be afraid, speak freely—I am very agreeable,” Su Yifan said in an even tone.
His voice was soft, yet to the bald man’s group, it thundered in their ears; none dared to retort.
Seeing their silence, Su Yifan continued, “Since there are no objections, I’ll repeat my question: where are the Xiao family?”
He swept his gaze over them, his eyes cold as a demon’s, and the bald man could no longer suppress his terror.
“Honored sir, I know where the Xiao family are.”
Su Yifan nodded with satisfaction, “Good. Tell me, and I’ll spare your life.”
“Yes,” the bald man clasped his hands respectfully. “The Xiao family set out early, ahead of us. By now, they should have reached the Immortal Mansion cave.”
“You know where that is?” Su Yifan asked.
The bald man dared not hide anything. “I do. If you need, sir, I can guide you there.”
“Excellent. Stand aside for now.”
“Stand aside?” At first, the bald man didn’t understand, then realization dawned. He quickly moved to the side.
Seeing his cowardice, the others cursed him.
“Daoyuan, we agreed to seek treasure together, and now you value your life over everything!”
“If we’d known you were like this, we’d never have teamed up with you!”
“Daoyuan, you bow to a bloodthirsty devil—what a disgrace to martial artists!”
Daoyuan made no rebuttal. He simply wished to survive; reputation meant little to him.
Su Yifan spoke, “Enough. Since all has been said, you may go now.”
“What do you mean? Do you really think you alone can kill everyone here?” a peak Martial Master challenged.
“Indeed, if it came to a fight, it’s not clear who would win,” added another Grandmaster.
There were nearly thirty people present, including seven early-stage Grandmasters, the rest all late-stage or peak Martial Masters.
Could he truly defeat them all single-handedly?
“If you’re so confident, take your confidence with you to hell,” Su Yifan replied.
With that, he waved his hand, and an invisible, terrifying force swept toward the assembled crowd.
