Chapter 115: Journey to the Hundred Thousand Mountains
Upon hearing that ringtone, a surge of killing intent rose within Su Yifan.
Damn it! Did that kid Crow even listen to a word I said?
Just then, the call connected, and Crow’s fawning voice came through from the other end: "Young Master Su, what are your orders?"
Forget it. Let it be.
In the end, Su Yifan gave up on the frustration. After all, Crow had handled quite a few things for him. He sighed and said, "There is something I need you to do."
"Young Master Su, whatever it is, just name it."
"It’s nothing major, really. I need some spirit herbs. I want you to help me inquire about them or acquire them. Money is no object."
Crow had expected something difficult; he hadn't realized it would be such a simple task. He immediately replied, "Rest assured, Young Master Su, I'll take care of it. I just don't know which spirit herbs you need?"
Su Yifan thought for a moment and said, "Alright, I'll send you a list in a moment."
With that, he hung up.
Ten minutes later, after carefully curating his requirements, Su Yifan compiled a list of spirit herbs and sent it to Crow.
...
At lunchtime, Han Qingqing returned from outside.
"Qingqing, come and eat!" Seeing her best friend return, Su Meng waved at her repeatedly.
Han Qingqing didn't stand on ceremony and immediately walked over to sit down. Su Meng served her a bowl of rice and said, "Qingqing, hurry and taste my brother's cooking."
"Brother Yifan made this?"
When Han Qingqing heard that the dishes before her were prepared by Su Yifan, her eyes lit up. Brother Yifan was just too incredible! Not only was he handsome, but he was also capable and strong. Who would have thought he could cook, too? It really caught her by surprise; she had assumed only children from poor families like hers were accustomed to such things. Brother Yifan was truly perfect.
She put a piece of meat into her mouth and bit down. The juices burst forth, and the savory aroma instantly filled her mouth, leaving her feeling immensely satisfied.
"How is it?" Su Meng stared intently at her best friend, her eyes wide.
"Delicious, it's so delicious..." Han Qingqing replied while chewing.
Only after swallowing the first piece did she look at Su Yifan. "Brother Yifan, did you really make all of this?"
Su Yifan nodded. "If you like it, eat more."
Han Qingqing nodded frantically and immediately picked up another piece of meat to eat. As she was eating, she suddenly asked, "By the way, Brother Yifan, where are Uncle and Auntie? Why don't I see them?"
She had found it strange earlier; she knew for a fact that his parents were home, so why weren't they out eating?
"They have some matters to attend to, so they won't be joining us. I've already set a portion aside for them," Su Yifan lied smoothly.
In truth, he also found it strange. His parents had been leaving the house less and less over the past few days, hiding in their room to cultivate. He had barely seen them at all. Little did they know, at that very moment, the sounds of a scuffle were echoing from a room within the Su residence.
Ten minutes later, the three of them were full and sat to the side to rest.
Su Meng asked, "Qingqing, did your parents give you a hard time today?"
"Don't worry, my mother just had me go back for a bit, and incidentally, she asked for Lin Ming's contact information."
Ever since Han Qingqing and Lin Ming had added each other on WeChat, they had started chatting. At first, she wasn't used to it, as she hadn't known Lin Ming for long, but after some simple conversations, they had gradually become more familiar. The decision to give Lin Ming's contact information to her mother had been made after they discussed it together.
"Oh, I see." Su Meng felt relieved upon hearing this.
Just then, Su Yifan’s phone rang.
"Quick, use the nunchucks, hum-ha-hey! Quick, use the nunchucks, hum-ha-hey! A martial artist must remember that the benevolent are invincible..."
He stepped aside to answer the phone and asked, "Hello, how is it?"
"Young Master Su, I've already found some of the spirit herbs. They all meet your requirements for age—they are all over a hundred years old," Crow said.
Su Yifan smiled with satisfaction. "Very good. Buy them and have them delivered directly to my residence."
"Got it." Crow agreed, then added, "Young Master Su, when my men were out scouting for the herbs, they heard a piece of news. I wonder if you’d be interested?"
"You're becoming increasingly talkative," Su Yifan said coldly.
Hearing that tone, Crow was immediately startled. Not daring to stall any longer, he quickly said, "According to my men, there is a valley deep within the Ten Thousand Mountains. Word is that many high-grade spirit herbs grow there, and their ages are quite significant."
"Oh? Is this information reliable?" Su Yifan asked. If there truly were high-grade spirit herbs, he wouldn't mind making the trip.
"It should be true. The news has already spread; otherwise, my men wouldn't have found out about it so easily."
"Very well. Is there an exact location?"
"I only know the name of the valley; as for the specific location, it's impossible to tell. I've already sent the name of the valley to your phone, Young Master Su," Crow said respectfully.
Upon hearing this, Su Yifan hung up. He looked at the message from Crow, which contained only three words: "Reincarnation Valley."
Su Yifan narrowed his eyes and muttered to himself.
Just then, Su Meng's voice came from behind him: "Brother, Qingqing and I have discussed it; we're going back to school now. Can you drive us?"
"Back to school so soon?" Su Yifan had expected them to stay a few more days.
"The school is already urging us, and if we don't go back, we'll fall behind on a lot of coursework." Su Meng didn't want to leave so early either, but she had no choice. They hadn't even requested leave yesterday, and they had already received a call from their instructor today telling them to return as soon as possible.
"In that case, alright. Go pack your things, and I'll wait for you outside." Su Yifan put his phone away and walked out.
A few minutes later, Su Meng and Han Qingqing had their things packed and put into the car.
"Sit tight," Su Yifan said, stepping on the gas and heading toward the school.
After twenty minutes, Su Yifan arrived at the school gate. He helped the two girls take their things out and said, "Alright, go on in."
"Okay. Brother, take care on your way back."
"Goodbye, Brother Yifan."
Su Meng and Han Qingqing waved at him and walked into the school. Watching their figures disappear, Su Yifan got back into the car and drove away. It was already late in the day. Su Yifan decided to set off for the Ten Thousand Mountains first thing tomorrow morning.
