Chapter 97: Vision and Perspective
"What are you planning to do?" Jiang Xue couldn’t help but look at Tang Long and ask as she followed him back.
Tang Long shrugged, gave a sly chuckle, and asked in return, "What do you think I want to do?"
Jiang Xue shook her head, a faint, bitter smile at the corner of her lips. "I really have no idea what you’re up to!"
By rights, as the head of Yutou Village—the village chief—Tang Long shouldn’t be mingling with the people from Flower Fish Head Resort. Was it possible he’d taken money from them?
Others might be tempted, but for him, it was hard to believe. Jiang Xue had witnessed with her own eyes how the village’s tourism business had grown from absolutely nothing to its current state. Without Tang Long and Zhang Xiu’e backing it, Yutou Village would never have become what it was.
So, perhaps anyone else could be bought off by the resort, but not him—though, to be fair, with the right price, perhaps anyone could be persuaded.
Tang Long laughed as he walked. "Isn’t it true that young people like you are always talking about ‘vision’? Vision determines your world; the broader the vision, the wider the world."
He paused for a moment, then continued with a smile, "Just the other day, a beautiful woman told me that, at most, Yutou Village’s tourism business could bring in a billion or so a year. So, in her eyes, that’s not a grand vision at all!"
Those words had come from Shan Xiu, whose perspective was indeed "bold." That’s why she’d rather invest in building a factory to produce her own brand of bottled water than put money into the village’s infrastructure.
Right now, there were plenty of people eyeing Yutou Village, eager to invest. But when it came to real industrial investment, most would turn away.
Why was that?
Because Yutou Village’s tourism was booming—they say even a pig could fly if it stands in the right wind. Wasn’t making a billion a year enough?
Jiang Xue rolled her eyes inwardly. Forget a billion or more; even a hundred million a year was a fortune!
"So, you’re planning to lead Yutou Village to break through its current limitations?"
It was common for enemies to clash at every turn, but it was rare for someone to take the initiative to cooperate with their rivals.
Tang Long replied with a laugh, "There’s really no other way, is there? You’ve seen it yourself—Yutou Village is packed inside and out. If we rely solely on our own capacity, visitors will come with high hopes only to leave disappointed. Word will get out, and after one visit, people will shake their heads at the mention of Yutou Village. Rather than let that happen, why not cooperate with Flower Fish Head Resort and make sure everyone has a great time? In the end, their goal is the same as ours!"
Watching Tang Long’s back, Jiang Xue’s eyes flickered as she hurried to catch up. "What do you mean, the same goal?"
Tang Long smiled. "We all want to make money!"
All for profit? Jiang Xue’s gaze showed a trace of wonder. It was true, of course, but wasn’t the resort here to snatch the village’s "peach"—to take advantage?
As if reading her thoughts, Tang Long said softly, "Even without the resort coming in, with the way visitor numbers are skyrocketing, can Yutou Village handle it all?"
Of course not!
Jiang Xue suddenly understood what Tang Long meant by "vision." To gain, one must first be willing to lose.
The reality was that the village’s capacity was limited, and they couldn’t stop people from coming of their own accord. So, cooperating with Flower Fish Head Resort was the best option.
When profit is shared, partnerships endure. In business, there are only interests—no permanent enemies.
"How about coming with me to check out Flower Fish Head Resort? You can see the place for yourself, and if it’s suitable, your student tour groups will have another place to visit in the future." Tang Long smiled.
"Alright, I’ll go with you." Jiang Xue agreed without objection. Besides herself, several members of the university travel club were helping keep order, and with the local villagers also involved, nothing would go wrong. She was also curious to see what kind of land the resort had bought with thirty million. Not many would dare throw that kind of money into a remote, impoverished place like Taoyuan County’s Donghe Town.
Meanwhile, at Flower Fish Head Resort, after hanging up with Tang Long, Jiang Xiuzhi’s face lit with a smile. She hadn’t expected Tang Long to call first—this meant the deadlock between the resort and Yutou Village was about to break!
After a moment’s hesitation, she called Wen Nuanchun to confirm the next steps. Even though the two were close in private, business was business, and neither was the type to blur the lines.
"President Wen, the head of Yutou Village just called, saying he wants to discuss cooperation with us," Jiang Xiuzhi said with a smile.
Wen Nuanchun laughed as well. "He only called today? I thought he’d call yesterday. Shows his vision isn’t as broad as I thought!"
She had no idea that Tang Long had been caught up all day yesterday with an unexpected incident at Baofeng Carving Factory and hadn’t returned until late at night, so he had no idea what was happening in the village.
Jiang Xiuzhi giggled. "President Wen, you’re always so prescient—no wonder people call you the ‘female Zhuge Liang.’ You can’t expect everyone to be as clever as you!"
"If he isn’t clever… that would be strange," Wen Nuanchun muttered quietly, frowning on the other end. It seemed she would have to meet Tang Long in person.
"No matter what conditions he proposes, we can agree to them," Wen Nuanchun cut straight to the point before Jiang Xiuzhi could respond.
Jiang Xiuzhi didn’t quite understand Wen Nuanchun’s thinking, but as an employee, it wasn’t her place to question—she simply carried out orders.
"Alright!"
After a slight pause, Wen Nuanchun added, "If you get a chance, take some photos of him and send them to me."
Photos? Secretly?
"I’ll take some if I get the chance. If not… you’ll have to come see for yourself," Jiang Xiuzhi replied, laughing and making no promises.
Wen Nuanchun laughed on the other end. "What’s this? The ever-confident Miss Jiang finally found something she can’t handle? Especially just a rough country fellow!"
"Don’t start!" Jiang Xiuzhi laughed. "If a rough country fellow can get your attention, Miss Wen, I’d be surprised. Just so you know, I’m here to work—strictly professional. If anything requires ‘selling myself,’ you’ll have to do it yourself!"
"'Selling yourself’—you make me sound like some nightclub madam!" Wen Nuanchun laughed, then paused and said, "Once I’ve wrapped things up here, I’ll come over in person in a few days."
With that, she hung up.
