Chapter 78 Yu Jiang in the Villa
Standing outside the door, Lin Fan glanced at his watch; it was nearly four in the morning. He lit a cigarette, a cold smile curling at his lips, and slowly blew a smoke ring into the air.
“Boss, what do you think the madman will do to that kid?” Mo Fei toyed with his throwing knife as he spoke.
Madman? Lin Fan hadn’t expected Mo Fei to give Hu Zifeng a nickname so quickly, but it suited Mo Fei’s character perfectly. “You’re asking me? How should I know?” Lin Fan shrugged and shot him a look.
“Let’s hope he doesn’t end up a eunuch before he dies,” Mo Fei said with a wicked grin. No sooner had the words left his mouth than a scream erupted from the house, so shrill and anguished it could have been heard for miles. It was chilling, so much so that even Lin Fan shivered.
After the scream, a sudden silence fell over the surroundings, as if nothing at all had happened. It seemed Hu Zifeng had indeed crippled Yan Dong, making him a eunuch before he died. Considering how much Hu Zifeng loved his fiancée, there was no way he’d let Yan Dong die painlessly.
Soon, Hu Zifeng emerged, standing beside Lin Fan. “It’s done?” Lin Fan asked calmly.
Mo Fei gave Hu Zifeng a thumbs-up, clearly impressed.
Ignoring Mo Fei, Hu Zifeng merely nodded.
“All right, head back to Qiangzi’s place. I’ll take care of the rest,” Lin Fan said, his eyes flashing with murderous intent.
Hu Zifeng now knew everything about his fiancée’s ordeal. Although he was eager to kill Yu Weihua and Wei Liang immediately, Lin Fan obviously had a plan. Since he had acknowledged Lin Fan as his boss and brother, he deferred to Lin Fan’s judgment, trusting that, in the end, he’d get his revenge on each of his enemies.
Lin Fan never considered himself a gentleman; he believed in repaying every grudge, that was what made a true man. He didn’t care why Yu Jiang targeted him—if Yu Jiang made trouble for him, Lin Fan would never let him off, least of all his son, Yu Weihua.
After Hu Zifeng left, Lin Fan shook the disc in his hand and said, “Care to join me for a trip?”
Naturally, Mo Fei agreed. He had no desire to spend the night stargazing on the lawn outside Fei Fei’s dorm. Having worked with Lin Fan for so long, Mo Fei understood his intentions with a single glance; this was clearly a move to send a warning.
Yu Jiang had been mayor of T City for several years now. Lately, he’d been busy, hoping to have Zhao Fanglin, the municipal party secretary, transferred elsewhere. At the same time, he was searching for evidence of Zhao Fanglin’s corruption, but so far he’d only found trivial matters that weren’t enough to bring Zhao Fanglin down.
Zhao Fanglin, aware of Yu Jiang’s ambitions, was likewise intent on eliminating him. No one liked having someone watching their every move; it was an uncomfortable feeling, and all it took was one misstep to lose everything, making a comeback all the more difficult.
Thus the two men were locked in a mutual rivalry, but neither had the evidence needed to topple the other, so their struggle remained in the shadows. Yet Zhao Fanglin’s higher rank meant Yu Jiang was always at a disadvantage.
Recently, Yu Jiang heard that Zhao Fanglin might soon be transferred, which delighted him. With Zhao Fanglin gone, Yu Jiang would surely step into his position, and then the wealth and power would flow his way. The difference in rank was only one level, but in terms of real influence, the mayor was far less than the party secretary.
But just as the opportunity arose, his beloved son landed him in enormous trouble, committing a rape and driving the victim to suicide. If there were no evidence, Yu Jiang could use his power to cover it up—after all, the victim was just a country girl.
What Yu Jiang hadn’t expected was that his son’s crime had been caught on video, and someone was using it to threaten him. If the incident leaked, even if Yu Jiang escaped blame, his hopes of becoming party secretary would be dashed. He couldn’t let the scandal go public; it would only ruin his son.
After some thought, Yu Jiang agreed to Wei Liang’s demands. Wei Liang was just a security guard, with no background. As long as Yu Jiang handled things flawlessly, no one would know.
Wei Liang had already had Yan Dong arrest Lin Fan for murder, so Yu Jiang came up with another plan: instructing Wei Liang to have Yan Dong arrange a prison break for Lin Fan, then use the police to kill him “while resisting arrest.” With his connections, Yu Jiang could quietly settle the matter afterward. To him, Lin Fan was just a murderer; his death meant nothing.
With this in mind, Yu Jiang ordered Police Chief Li Kun to kill Lin Fan during the capture, citing increased security concerns due to attention from Beijing. Unfortunately, Zhao Fanglin intervened, and Yu Jiang’s orders never reached the officers.
That night, Yu Jiang was even more pleased. Although Wei Liang had threatened him, Wei Liang also promised to help him in the competition for party secretary. With the support of Pujiang Group, Yu Jiang’s chances increased. He now eagerly awaited Zhao Fanglin’s transfer, after which T City would be his domain.
Everything was progressing as he and Wei Liang had planned. Lin Fan had “broken out of prison” as a convicted murderer, and Yu Jiang had already spoken to the police; if Lin Fan resisted, he would be shot on the spot, solving all problems.
Yu Jiang had never met Lin Fan, yet because of his son, he wanted him dead, treating a stranger as a stepping stone in his career. If it had been someone else, Yu Jiang’s plan might have succeeded—but his opponent was Lin Fan, a man he could never afford to provoke.
It’s worth mentioning that certain hours around dawn, especially between three and four in the morning, are particularly suitable for certain activities, as men are generally refreshed after resting.
Inside the villa, Yu Jiang finished his shower and, happily, wrapped his arm around his mistress as they entered the bedroom. On the bed lay a young man, naked—his son, Yu Weihua.
“Dad, hurry up!” Yu Weihua shouted. Though only in his early twenties, he looked utterly drained, lacking any youthful vigor—a clear sign of overindulgence in drink and women.
After he and Wei Liang raped Hu Zifeng’s fiancée, and the girl later jumped to her death, Yu Weihua was terrified. He was a university student, and knew the gravity of what he’d done. But learning that the girl’s fiancé had been thrown in jail by Wei Liang eased his fears.
He became much more cautious, especially after last time at Fei Fei’s school, when Lin Fan showed up. In the past, Yu Weihua would never have allowed Lin Fan to take Fei Fei away; he believed any woman he fancied was his for the taking. It was only Hu Zifeng’s fiancée’s desperate resistance that had incited Yu Weihua’s animalistic rage, leading him and Wei Liang to force themselves upon her, triggering the subsequent chain of events.
Yu Jiang, though nearly fifty, could still manage several rounds each night, which he took great pride in. He poured himself a cup of medicinal wine gifted by a subordinate and drank it down. “All right, all right, just a moment, don’t rush—the night is still young.”
The gift-giver knew Yu Jiang’s wife had died long ago and that he kept a mistress, so he brought the medicinal wine as a thoughtful gesture. Each time Yu Jiang drank it, he felt as if his whole body were ablaze, filled with inexhaustible energy, and he could last a very long time. Now, sharing the “battlefield” with his son, Yu Jiang wasn’t about to let himself be upstaged.
Yu Jiang had a peculiar habit: he liked to record himself during intimate moments. Tonight, with his son joining him, he was determined to capture it on film—it was a hobby of his. Watching himself conquer his mistress on camera gave him immense satisfaction.
He kept these discs all together, occasionally taking them out to admire. He even considered making them family heirlooms, so his descendants could witness his virility in years to come!
