Chapter 76: An Unexpected Video
In order to protect his own son, it wasn’t impossible for Yu Jiang to follow Wei Liang’s suggestion. This explained why Lin Fan didn’t know Yu Jiang, yet Yu Jiang wanted to kill him. Lin Fan truly hadn’t expected that this second-generation rich kid, who appeared to spend his days chasing women, would set such an elaborate trap for him, plotting his death. First, it was the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind; then came the plan to kill by another’s hand. Lin Fan had really underestimated him.
But Wei Liang wasn’t that clever. Originally, he just wanted to gather a few friends for fun, since the woman was just a village girl without family background, and he didn’t think much when recording the video. Later, Wei Liang’s “oriole behind” succeeded, and Yan Dong even told him that Lin Fan had killed someone. Coincidentally, Wei Liang’s father, Wei Jiangbiao, learned of it, and advised his precious son to use the video to threaten Yu Weihua, and then employ Yu Jiang to kill Lin Fan. This move was truly masterful—one must admit, the old are indeed more cunning.
Lin Fan let out a cold snort, instantly releasing the intense murderous aura he’d suppressed, so much that Yan Dong thought Lin Fan was about to kill him.
“Where’s the videotape?” Lin Fan asked. He thought to himself, if what Yan Dong said was true, then with this video, he’d have leverage over Yu Weihua. Yet Lin Fan wouldn’t threaten Yu Weihua the way Wei Liang did; he wasn’t one to repeat the tactics of others. Otherwise, he’d be too ordinary for someone who led Dragon Soul.
“It’s... at my house,” Yan Dong replied.
“Let’s go, take us to get it,” Lin Fan said. He wasn’t interested in watching Yan Dong and Yu Weihua’s sordid video; he simply believed that possessing these materials would be useful, and he already had a plan in mind.
He then glanced at Mo Fei, making it clear Mo Fei was to watch over Yan Dong.
“Boss, my preference is women, women...” Mo Fei glanced at Lin Fan and emphasized repeatedly. It didn’t matter if Lin Fan misunderstood him, but if the entire Dragon Soul thought their renowned killer preferred men, he’d rather be dead.
“Enough, I know,” Lin Fan said impatiently. “We’ve been at this for nearly an hour; there’s more to do soon, hurry up.” With that, he headed downstairs first.
Mo Fei helped Yan Dong to his feet, brandished a throwing knife threateningly below his waist, making the warning unmistakable. Remembering Mo Fei’s fierce demeanor earlier, Yan Dong dared not make any move out of line. Enduring the pain in his shoulder, he obediently let Mo Fei escort him to the car, leaving the abandoned factory.
Yan Dong hadn't lied; he produced the copied disc Wei Liang had given him, but nervously glanced at Lin Fan, clearly afraid Lin Fan might kill him after getting what he wanted.
As soon as the disc was in hand, Mo Fei snatched it up, grinning, “Boss, let me check if it’s real.” He slipped it into the drive.
Lin Fan knew exactly what Mo Fei was thinking, rolled his eyes but said nothing. He wasn’t worried the disc was fake; if Yan Dong dared to deceive him, Lin Fan wouldn’t hesitate to kill him. A police officer who violated women was nothing but a social menace.
Seeing Lin Fan and Mo Fei’s attention shift away from him, Yan Dong unconsciously felt his chances of survival improve, and he couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
“This is pathetic, what lousy technique! It’s trash, and they dared to record it?” Mo Fei cursed as soon as he opened the video, reaching to shut it off.
Yan Dong muttered internally, trash? Back then, he’d taken two pills of Viagra for this.
Lin Fan knew Mo Fei always disparaged others, but the guy did have a reputation in bed—otherwise, so many girls wouldn’t sleep with him. Shaking his head helplessly, Lin Fan glanced at the screen, and froze. He quickly shouted, “Wait, don’t turn it off.”
Mo Fei was about to eject the disc, but Lin Fan’s shout stopped his hand midair. “Boss, what are you doing? You scared me.”
Lin Fan ignored him, leaned in to examine the screen carefully.
“If you want to watch, I’ll find you some top-tier videos later. This is nothing, just like a three-second quick-shot prince,” Mo Fei said contemptuously, casting a glance at Yan Dong, then kicked him.
Mo Fei couldn’t stand it—in his view, a man who couldn’t make a woman come to him willingly was understandable, since not everyone could be as charming as himself. But Yan Dong had violated someone; that was a disgrace to all men. Seeing the woman on screen suffer and struggle, even Mo Fei felt uncomfortable.
Lin Fan, however, stared intently at the screen. To his surprise, he recognized both people besides Yan Dong in the video. At first glance, they seemed familiar, as if he’d seen them somewhere. Now, up close, Lin Fan recognized them completely, and in his heart, Yan Dong was already sentenced to death.
“Boss, what’s wrong?” Mo Fei looked at Lin Fan in surprise, unable to understand why Lin Fan was so interested in such a low-quality video, and why he seemed so odd.
Lin Fan shot him a look, then stepped in front of Yan Dong, expressionless. “You said you, Yu Weihua, and Wei Liang all violated this girl together?” He pointed at the screen.
“Yes, yes,” Yan Dong, kneeling on the floor, cautiously looked up at Lin Fan, not understanding why Lin Fan suddenly asked this.
Mo Fei, too, glanced at his boss with curiosity, about to ask something but Lin Fan waved him off.
Checking the time—it was nearly four in the morning—Lin Fan slowly dialed Huzi Feng’s number, told him his location, and asked him to come as quickly as possible.
“I’ll introduce you to someone, and I think he’ll be very happy to see you,” Lin Fan said coldly, glancing at Yan Dong with a hint of a sneer.
Yes, the woman in the video was Huzi Feng’s fiancée. Back in the detention center, Lin Fan had seen a photo of her when Huzi Feng spoke about the past. She was a country girl, so pure and kind that Lin Fan had looked at her a few extra times. Though the woman in the video was in pain and misery, Lin Fan still recognized her: she was Huzi Feng’s fiancée. Little did Huzi Feng know that the culprits behind her death weren’t just Wei Liang, but also the “good policeman” Yan Dong and the son of the mayor, Yu Weihua.
Lin Fan was surprised to find that he’d met Yu Weihua before—when he visited Feifei’s school, the young man pestering Feifei to have dinner with him was Yu Weihua. Lin Fan hadn’t paid much attention then; Yu Weihua looked about twenty, and Lin Fan never imagined he’d be such a person in private.
Soon, Huzi Feng arrived, still unsure why Lin Fan had called him here. But he’d already decided to follow Lin Fan, and so he obeyed everything Lin Fan said. He knew Lin Fan was from the Falcon unit, the mysterious force he’d always admired. Even if Lin Fan told him to die, Huzi Feng would do so willingly.
He could sense Lin Fan’s sincerity, unlike Du Chong, leader of the Green Gang, who only valued his skills and sought to use him. When Huzi Feng learned that Wei Liang had caused his fiancée’s death, Du Chong not only refused to avenge him, but sided with Wei Liang at every turn, and finally, together with Wei Liang, sent him to the police station. How could Huzi Feng ever forget that?
“Zi Feng, what are you doing here?” Mo Fei opened the door, puzzled. But then he inwardly mocked himself for asking such a pointless question—since Huzi Feng was here, Lin Fan must have called him. Otherwise, who’d be wandering around at this hour?
“Boss called me; I don’t know what’s going on,” Huzi Feng said as he came in. In Mo Fei’s view, since Huzi Feng had joined Lin Fan, he was now a brother, so there was no need for formality. He even joked with Huzi Feng occasionally.
