Chapter 14: Su Tang, the Little Junior Sister?
With that, Manager Zhao shot a glance at his men. They understood immediately and, without another word, prepared to rough up Chen Yang right then and there.
It was clear that tonight would not end peacefully. But when it came to a fight, Chen Yang had never feared anyone.
Just as both sides were about to clash, Chen Yang’s phone rang. It was none other than Murong Xue’er.
“Wait!” Chen Yang raised his hand. For reasons unknown, the fierce-looking thugs all stopped in their tracks as if bewitched.
Taking advantage of the pause, Chen Yang answered the call.
“Sorry, there’s a bit of traffic. I just arrived at Grand Royale!” Murong Xue’er’s apologetic voice sounded on the line.
Chen Yang didn’t mind. “No problem, I’m in KTV Suite 9.”
“Oh?” Murong Xue’er replied in surprise. “I didn’t expect you to be in such a cultured mood tonight.”
“Cultured mood? Hardly. Trouble, on the other hand—I’ve got plenty. If you don’t come soon, I’m about to start a fight!” Chen Yang’s words were blunt and direct.
Murong Xue’er was startled. “You’re in trouble? Who has the nerve to provoke you?”
Chen Yang said nothing.
Murong Xue’er’s voice turned cold. “Give me a minute. I want to see which blind fool would dare disrespect you on Murong Estate’s turf!”
After hanging up, Chen Yang glanced at Manager Zhao. “Your young lady said she’d be here in a minute. She wants you to wait.”
“Chen Yang, you’re at death’s door and still have the nerve to be cocky!” Di Hongwei sneered, unwilling to believe that a country bumpkin like Chen Yang could possibly know Murong Xue’er.
“Exactly! All you do is talk nonsense!” Nana cursed, pointing at him.
“Manager Zhao, he’s stalling for time. Don’t fall for it! Beat him up first!” Di Hongwei egged them on.
Naturally, Manager Zhao didn’t believe Chen Yang’s words. Shooting a glance at his men, he snapped, “What are you waiting for, a year-end bonus from me?”
Tension filled the air, and a brawl was about to erupt.
Seeing things take a turn for the worse, Su Tang wanted to step forward and help Chen Yang, but Shen Yanran stopped her. “Xiaotang, that guy’s a brute. Let him get knocked down a peg. Don’t worry, when the time’s right, I’ll plead for him—they won’t beat him to death.”
“But there are so many of them, and they won’t hold back. What if he gets badly hurt?” Anxiety was written all over Su Tang’s face.
After all, this whole mess had started because of her.
Chen Yang was touched by her concern. He hadn’t expected a girl he’d just met by chance to worry about him.
He made a note of this kind-hearted girl.
The next moment, the group of thugs rushed at Chen Yang like hungry wolves. But instead of panicking, Chen Yang relaxed and even struck a pose—the stance of Wing Chun.
As expected, he didn’t use a hint of spiritual power. With just his fists and feet, he dispatched the thugs in groups, leaving them sprawled on the floor, groaning in pain.
Chen Yang, on the other hand, wasn’t even sweating.
Witnessing this, everyone was utterly stunned, especially the three girls and Di Hongwei, who looked as if they’d seen a ghost.
“This… How is this possible?” Di Hongwei swallowed hard. He would never have guessed that Chen Yang was so fearsome.
Regret was already gnawing at him—why had he ever provoked this monster?
But there is no medicine for regret in this world.
Manager Zhao’s face was no better. His chubby cheeks were etched with shock.
“Who… who are you, really?” he stammered.
No sooner had he spoken than a clear, ringing voice sounded from outside the door: “He is an honored guest of the Murong family!”
As the words faded, Murong Xue’er entered, dressed in white, moving with grace.
She wasn’t a celebrity or a public figure; apart from Chen Yang and Manager Zhao, no one present had seen her before.
At first, Di Hongwei and the others were confused—who was this beauty?
But Manager Zhao’s reaction made everything clear.
“Miss Murong… you—” Manager Zhao’s brow furrowed as a sense of dread washed over him.
Ignoring him, Murong Xue’er walked straight to Chen Yang and spoke with deference, “Mr. Chen, I apologize for being late and making you suffer this indignity.”
Her words sent shockwaves through the room.
Everyone was left speechless, the weight of her statement immense—especially Shen Yanran, whose shock was akin to discovering a new continent.
She blurted out, “Mr. Chen? That can’t be right. Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”
Murong Xue’er shot her an icy glance but held her temper, uncertain about the nature of Chen Yang’s relationship with Shen Yanran.
Chen Yang smiled. “There’s nothing between us.”
With that, he turned to Su Tang and said, “Xiaotang, come over here. Let’s enjoy the show together.”
Su Tang, still bewildered, let herself be pulled aside by Chen Yang.
By now, even a fool could see what was happening. Without hesitation, Manager Zhao dropped to his knees and began slapping his own face. “Miss Murong, I was blind! I offended your distinguished guest, I—”
He didn't get to finish begging before Murong Xue’er cut him off coldly. “You shouldn’t be kneeling to me. If Mr. Chen is willing to forgive you, I have no objection.”
Manager Zhao wasn’t stupid. He immediately turned and knelt before Chen Yang, not even pausing to plead before Chen Yang kicked him away. “I don’t want to see you again. Get lost.”
Manager Zhao’s face turned ashen.
Murong Xue’er understood and said, “Go to accounting for your final paycheck. You’re fired.”
“No, no, no! I still have car and house loans to pay. I can’t afford to lose this job!” Manager Zhao pleaded desperately, though he left unsaid that he was also supporting a mistress.
If he wasn’t a manager, her departure was only a matter of time.
Seeing such a pitiful sight, Su Tang couldn’t help but feel sorry. “Da Li, he’s really miserable. Maybe we should let it go?”
Hearing this, hope flared in Manager Zhao’s heart, but Chen Yang’s next words snuffed it out mercilessly.
“People like him don’t deserve pity. Even if you pity him, he won’t be grateful—in fact, he’ll probably bite the hand that feeds him.”
Chen Yang knew the story of the Farmer and the Snake all too well.
Murong Xue’er acted decisively, ordering her men to drag the weeping Manager Zhao out of the Grand Royale Hotel.
Seeing the situation turn dire, Di Hongwei tried to sneak away, but Chen Yang wouldn’t let him off so easily.
True to his word, Chen Yang forced Di Hongwei to kowtow a hundred times before letting him leave, battered and bruised.
As for Nana, Lily, and Xiao Qian—the three gold-digging girls—they huddled in a corner, trembling, not daring to look Chen Yang in the eye.
Their crying caught his attention. With a mischievous smile, he walked toward them, but Shen Yanran blocked his path.
“Chen Yang, I know you’re tough, and you’ve vented your anger quite enough. What more do you want?”
Chen Yang shot her a glance. “I haven’t settled the score with you yet. Don’t be impatient.”
“Don’t go too far!” Shen Yanran refused to back down.
Chen Yang frowned. “What, do you want to be next?”
If she insisted, he wouldn’t mind teaching her a lesson.
At that moment, Su Tang burst into tears. “Da Li, that’s enough. If you hurt Yanran, I don’t want to live anymore!”
A sudden image flashed through Chen Yang’s mind: in his previous life in the world of cultivation, his junior sister had once tried to stop him from killing, breaking down in tears just like this, her unresolved grief stunting her progress until she faded away.
“Junior Sister?” Chen Yang stared at Su Tang, momentarily dazed.
Finally, he let it go and said to the three girls, “Get out. I don’t want to see you again.”
Relieved, the three scrambled out of the suite without looking back.
Since he’d spared them, how much less reason was there to hold anything against Shen Yanran?
Su Tang fainted.
Without needing a word from Chen Yang, Murong Xue’er immediately sent two female bodyguards to escort Su Tang safely home.
Ten minutes later, Chen Yang and Murong Xue’er were alone in a luxurious private suite.
As soon as they sat down, Murong Xue’er bowed her head slightly. “Mr. Chen, I truly apologize for what happened tonight.”
She was about to say more, but Chen Yang waved her off. “Forget it. It was just a small episode—nothing serious.”
