Chapter 93: The Wang Family's Helplessness
After the incident with the Tiger Head Gang spread, the bloody scene at the site and the footage captured inside the villa were exposed to all the major families. Watching the video of Lin Feng, every family patriarch couldn’t help but gasp in shock.
In the Wang family compound, the direct descendants gathered in the old master’s study to view the video. For a long time, no one dared to speak; they were all stunned by the brutality of the scene and Lin Feng’s overwhelming combat prowess.
"Grandfather, Lin Feng is a murderer! We have the evidence, we can hand it over to the authorities—Lin Feng can’t escape now, hahaha!" Only Wang Man, oblivious to the deeper implications, was excited to finally have leverage against Lin Feng, boasting in the study to the old master.
But his words were met not by the old master’s voice, but by a resounding slap from Wang Boyi. After striking Wang Man, Wang Boyi angrily shouted, "Shut up! No one will mistake you for a mute if you keep quiet."
Wang Man clutched his aching face, his hatred for Lin Feng erupting as he glared at Wang Boyi and shouted, "You hit me! When your own son was bullied, you didn’t dare fight back; now that we have evidence, you don’t think of avenging me, you just hit me. Are you really my father?"
No sooner had he finished than Wang Boyi slapped him again. Wang Man covered both cheeks, furious. If not for the fact that Wang Boyi was his father, or the last shred of sanity in his mind, he would have rushed at him.
The old master, aged and now more compassionate toward his grandson, saw that Wang Man had been taught a lesson and feared he might provoke Wang Boyi further and suffer another beating. He quickly interceded, "Enough, he’s still your son, don’t be too harsh."
Seeing the old master speak up for him, Wang Man immediately shifted his resentment toward the old master, shouting, "Grandfather, why? I refuse to accept this!"
The old master had held out some hope for Wang Man, but hearing him shout in defiance, he shook his head in disappointment and replied, "Why? Are you a fool? Didn’t you see how Lin Feng killed in the video? In less than ten minutes, over a hundred Tiger Head Gang members were slaughtered—none could even touch his clothes. Who dares mess with such a person? Do you think the authorities would dare? If they pursue this, our Wang family will suffer—don’t forget, the Tiger Head Gang stands behind us. Over the years, they’ve done countless shady things and handled many of your dirty secrets. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t be at odds with the Lin family or Lin Feng!"
Wang Man was finally chastened by the old master’s words, bowing his head and standing quietly in the corner. After reprimanding Wang Man, the phone in the study suddenly rang. The old master hurriedly picked it up, his voice agitated during the call, and finally hung up in anger.
Wang Boyi, who had been silent since entering the study, saw the old master’s agitation and guessed what had happened. Still, he confirmed, "Old master, was it them?"
"Sigh, yes. They just said they’re withdrawing from this matter, no longer opposing the Lin family or Lin Feng, and advised us to fend for ourselves. Hmph, a bunch of fair-weather friends," the old master said, pounding the desk in fury.
"Heh, I knew this would be the outcome. From the moment you planned to oppose Lin Feng, I foresaw the Wang family’s defeat. The Lin family isn’t frightening; I’d have the courage to face them. But Lin Feng is too uncanny, too mysterious, always with countless hidden cards. I never supported you in making him an enemy, but now it’s too late," Wang Boyi muttered, as if speaking to the old master and Wang Boyi in the study.
"Sigh, eldest and second sons, what do you think we should do now?" The old master finally took Wang Boyi’s words to heart and, head lowered, asked the second generation in the study.
This was Wang Boyi’s suggestion, so he didn’t dare respond. "What else can we do? Wait and see how Lin Feng chooses to act," Wang Boyi replied, but his words only deepened the gloom in the room.
In Prime Minister Zhu’s home, he had already gone to bed early. Ever since drinking Lin Feng’s celestial brew at the Lin family, his sleep had improved; previously, he struggled to rest at night, but now he could sleep as he did in his middle years.
"What’s the matter? I’ve barely slept, and you woke me?" Prime Minister Zhu opened his bleary eyes and asked his wife, knowing she wouldn’t disturb him unless it was urgent.
"We have a guest—Minister Xie just arrived. He’s in the living room, says it’s an emergency," his wife replied nervously. She didn’t know what had happened, but for the Minister of Defense to visit at midnight, it couldn’t be trivial.
Prime Minister Zhu hurried to put on a coat and rushed to the living room. Seeing Minister Xie seated, he asked anxiously, "Old Xie, coming so urgently—has war broken out?"
Minister Xie just shook his head.
Prime Minister Zhu relaxed, realizing it wasn’t a war, but then grew anxious again, wondering what could prompt such a visit. "If it’s not war, what brings you here so late?"
"Ah, Old Zhu, did you hear any news tonight?" Minister Xie asked curiously.
"News? What news? I was tired, finished my duties, and went to bed early. I haven’t heard anything," Prime Minister Zhu replied, puzzled.
"No wonder. Let me show you a video—it’s about Lin Feng. Yanjing is about to change," Minister Xie said. He took out his phone and played a video for Prime Minister Zhu.
"About Lin Feng? What could have happened with him at this hour?" Prime Minister Zhu muttered, then took the phone.
After watching the video, Prime Minister Zhu’s mouth hung open in shock, unable to close it.
Minister Xie, seeing his reaction, calmly asked, "Old Zhu, what do you think?"
"You—you’re sure that’s Lin Feng in the video? The one who’s usually stingy and impossibly lazy?" Prime Minister Zhu didn’t answer directly, but instead questioned him again.
"It’s him. I’ve had it verified. I never imagined he had such skill—not just Yanjing’s number one heir, but its greatest master," Minister Xie said, his eyes gleaming.
"That rascal! I restrained the Lin and Wang families from fighting, forbidding their families from acting, but I overlooked Lin Feng. I didn't expect him to be so formidable. If I’d known, I’d have restrained him first," Prime Minister Zhu said, rubbing his forehead in distress. So many lives lost—thankfully the video hadn’t been spread online, or who knows what chaos might have ensued.
"Indeed! Lin Feng has hidden much from us. If he hadn’t sought justice, we’d never know his terrifying combat ability. With his skill, even a squad of special forces couldn’t get near him, and an entire company couldn’t hold him," Minister Xie sighed.
"What’s happening outside now? Has the Wang family or the new families reacted?" Prime Minister Zhu asked.
"It’s all quiet. The Wang family doesn’t dare move, and all the new families allied with them have withdrawn, distancing themselves. The old families on the Lin side are even less likely to act, and the others are silent. With a monster like Lin Feng, every family has been shocked!" Minister Xie replied. Not just the families—even he, the Defense Minister, had been intimidated by Lin Feng.
"It’s good that things have calmed down. Wait—how did you get the video if Lin Feng acted? Was he foolish enough not to destroy the evidence?" Prime Minister Zhu nodded, then asked in confusion.
"Can’t you see? He left the evidence deliberately. The purpose is obvious: to intimidate the Wang family and the Yanjing clans. The Wang family was the first to get the video—do you think they’d dare to make a move or involve the authorities? They’d be the first to suffer if the authorities intervened," Minister Xie analyzed.
"You’re right. Thinking carefully, Lin Feng certainly meant it. But his ultimate goal is only clear to that sly fox himself—he’s always three steps ahead. I don’t believe he exposed his hand just for this. Regardless, he’s done the country a great service. The Tiger Head Gang’s reach had grown too long—if not for the balance among Yanjing’s families, the Chairman would’ve eliminated them long ago," Prime Minister Zhu mused.
"Old Zhu, you’re right. Whatever Lin Feng’s true intentions, he’s done a good deed. After this, I believe Yanjing’s families will be quiet for a while. With his skills, maybe we can bring him into the military," Minister Xie finally revealed his true motives.
"Haha! Old Xie, you won’t have much luck with that. You know how lazy he is. If he agreed to join the military and help you train talent, I’d bet you a month without smoking!" Prime Minister Zhu replied, laughing.
