Chapter 7: Slaying My Way to Dragon Soar
Just as they stepped out of the Lan Club, Lin Feng turned to the unfamiliar young woman and said, "You should leave quickly. Girls shouldn't come to places like this alone, especially at night—it's dangerous."
Inside the jade pendant, Mo Tian watched Lin Feng lecturing the girl and couldn't help but tease, "Well, well, the sun hasn't even risen yet, and the number one young master of Zhanhai City is suddenly so kind-hearted, giving warnings to girls. I thought you were in such a hurry to drag her out because you wanted to find a hotel!"
Lin Feng ignored Mo Tian's sarcasm and continued walking, still admonishing the young woman.
Xia Ruoxi gazed at the man who had just saved her life, listening to his persistent advice. A strange warmth blossomed in her heart. It had been so long—ever since her parents passed away—since anyone had cared for her like this.
"My name is Xia Ruoxi. And I only came here tonight for work reasons. It's actually my first time in such a place," she hurriedly explained, as though fearing Lin Feng would misunderstand her.
"For work, is it? Well, it seems tonight's work didn't go well—probably fell through. Take out your phone," Lin Feng commanded.
"My phone? What do you want with it?" Xia Ruoxi slowly pulled her phone from her bag, puzzled.
"If I'm asking for your phone, obviously I need it for something. There's no way you can go back to your company now, so take a few days to rest. I'll introduce you to a job soon, and trust me, you'll be busy then," Lin Feng replied mysteriously, snatching the phone from her.
After recording her number, Lin Feng handed the phone back and turned away without another word, leaving behind only his cool silhouette and a slightly stunned Xia Ruoxi.
"You're treating this girl differently than you do others. Are you serious this time?" Mo Tian suddenly asked as Lin Feng walked on.
"I don't know why, but I just felt compelled to do this for her. It's instinctive—I can't explain it. Let's just see what happens," Lin Feng sighed.
"By the way, Mo Tian, I want to deal with the trouble I just stirred up tonight. That Li Si is no pushover—I’ve heard of him. Instead of waiting for him to make a move or prepare his defenses, I should strike first and catch them off guard," Lin Feng said grimly.
"Sure, this is trouble, but what about next time? Have you thought about what you'll do in the future? If you keep handling things this way—killing every time someone comes at you—how many times can you do it? How many people can you eliminate? This world is governed by law," Mo Tian reminded him.
Lin Feng was silent for a long while, lost and uncertain, before finally admitting, "You're right. So what do you think I should do?"
"What should you do? Well, how can you make others afraid to provoke you? Have you thought about the path you want to take? Are you just going to rely on your father and be a spoiled young master forever?" Mo Tian continued to probe.
Lin Feng said nothing, deep in thought as he walked.
Eventually, as the road neared its end, Lin Feng suddenly spoke. "You're right, Mo Tian. If I want people to fear provoking me, I need real power—a solid position in society. My father's business success isn't enough to dominate Zhanhai City, let alone the whole world."
"It's good you've realized that. So what will your first step be?" Mo Tian pressed.
"I'll make Zhanhai City my stronghold. My father's Lin Group already holds sway in business, but now I want to control the entire city's underworld," Lin Feng declared with imperial authority, his presence commanding and kingly.
"Then do it. As a soul, I can't help you much—you'll have to rely on yourself," Mo Tian encouraged him.
"You've already helped me more than enough. Without you, I wouldn't be who I am today," Lin Feng replied.
At that moment, in a luxurious villa in Zhanhai City, Li Si—who had just been slapped by Lin Feng—was in a fury, embellishing the story as he recounted it to his parents.
"Damn it! That hurt so much—I want to kill him, and his entire family! Dad, Mom, you have to avenge me. Lin Feng from the Lin family treated me like dirt. It's clear he has no respect for you!"
"Exactly! Look what they've done to our Si'er. Clearly they're showing no respect to our Li family, nor to the Dragon Soar Society," his mother fanned the flames.
"Hmph, don't think I don't see through you two. Look how you've spoiled him. There are always greater people out there. The Lin family is, after all, the top business family in Zhanhai City—I have to tread carefully," the middle-aged man in the room reproached them.
But the woman was not to be outdone. Annoyed by his words, she retorted, "And here I thought you were the leader of the Dragon Soar Society! Is this all you're capable of? Your son was beaten, and now that trouble has come to our door, you don't even dare to speak up. How will you manage the society in the future?"
"I don't need you telling me how to run things. But you're right about one thing—the Lin family can't just act this arrogantly. Our Li family isn't so easily bullied either. Lin Chuanzhi owes me an explanation," the man said, his face darkening with anger.
"An explanation? What kind of explanation do you want from the Lin family? I'm here right now. Speak," came a voice from within the room before the man’s words had even faded.
Startled at first, the man quickly grew furious—someone had dared to break into the Dragon Soar Society. "Who dares act so presumptuously in my house?" he shouted.
"Mom, Dad, that's him! That's Lin Feng, the bastard from the Lin family! Hurry—call someone in here to deal with him!" Li Si cried out in terror at the figure appearing beside his father.
"So, you’re the brat who hit my Li Si? You have the nerve to come here? I'll beat you to death myself!" Without another word, the woman raised her hand and charged at Lin Feng.
But before she could reach him, Lin Feng had already moved. No one in the room saw what he did; they only sensed a dark shadow flicker past like a ghost, and the woman collapsed to the floor, nothing more than a mangled heap.
"Bastard, stop! You dare behave so outrageously in my domain? Are you looking for death? Someone! Where is everyone?!" the middle-aged man roared towards the door.
Minutes passed, but the house remained silent. Only then did the man realize something was terribly wrong.
"Well, Master Li, isn't it strange? Why haven't the dozens of men stationed outside made a sound? I can tell you—I've already taken care of them. Otherwise, do you think I could stand here so calmly before you?" Lin Feng said coldly, mocking him.
"What, you dealt with all of them? It seems the whole of Zhanhai City has been deceived. No wonder—you're Lin Chuanzhi's son. Very impressive. The Lin family plays a good game," the man said, suddenly understanding, his eyes flickering as he stared at Lin Feng.
