Chapter 138: Xia Ruoxi’s Jealousy
Lin Feng had just been struck in the waist by Xia Ruoxi’s attack. That spot was indeed a weak point for men. Although Lin Feng possessed inner strength, he still couldn’t fully protect his waist. Seeing Xia Ruoxi beside him acting as if nothing had happened, Lin Feng inwardly sighed, “Women truly are born actors!”
After teaching Lin Feng a lesson, Xia Ruoxi introduced herself to the woman standing nearby: “Hello, I am Lin Feng’s fiancée and the CEO of FutureTech Corporation, Xia Ruoxi.”
Mao Aoyuki, unsure why she had acted so impulsively before—in such a formal occasion, she had suddenly grabbed Lin Feng’s hand and greeted him so familiarly—now, seeing Lin Feng’s fiancée standing by his side and introducing herself, felt like a child caught in wrongdoing. Blushing deeply, she nervously twisted the corner of her clothing, unsure how to respond.
Xia Ruoxi noticed Mao Aoyuki’s shy expression. Paired with the latter’s exquisite beauty, even Xia Ruoxi, as a woman herself, couldn’t help but feel a stir of admiration.
Lin Feng sensed the awkward atmosphere and, noticing Mao Aoyuki’s flushed face, asked, “How did you get in here? Do you also have an invitation?”
Before Mao Aoyuki could answer, Mao Jirou, who had been watching over his granddaughter from behind, stepped forward to ease the situation.
“I am Mao Jirou, head of the Mao family from the island nation. This is my granddaughter, Mao Aoyuki. I brought her in with me. I was surprised to find Chairman Lin already knows my granddaughter!” Mao Jirou feigned ignorance as he spoke to Lin Feng.
Lin Feng was startled, his gaze toward Mao Jirou changing. The Mao family was no stranger to him; in fact, Lin Feng had long heard of their reputation, thanks to his previous dealings with the Iga family. To support them, he had gained some understanding of the major families of the island nation.
“Heh, so you are the head of the Mao family. I have heard much about you. Not long ago, I visited the island but couldn’t pay you a visit due to time constraints. It’s been a regret of mine. I never imagined I’d see you here today.” Lin Feng responded politely, as a guest should.
Mao Jirou knew Lin Feng was being courteous but did not dare accept the praise outright. He replied humbly, “Chairman Lin, you flatter me. You are the true role model to learn from. See, I even brought my granddaughter here, hoping she can learn more from you.” With that, Mao Jirou nudged Mao Aoyuki forward, seeking to leverage her connection with Lin Feng to strengthen ties between the Mao family and Lin Feng.
Hearing Mao Jirou mention Mao Aoyuki again, Lin Feng wisely kept silent, still vividly recalling the awkward moment earlier. He was not eager to invite another “attack” from Xia Ruoxi on his waist.
“No need to learn from me,” Lin Feng said cleverly, pushing Xia Ruoxi forward as a shield. “I’ve just been lucky and happened to have an excellent assistant by my side. FutureTech’s success owes a lot to my fiancée, Xia Ruoxi.”
“Heh, Ms. Xia is indeed a rare talent in business. My granddaughter will have to learn a great deal from her!” Mao Jirou was not ready to give up, still mentioning Mao Aoyuki.
Xia Ruoxi, displaying the grace of a senior executive, responded generously, “Head Mao, you are too kind. With a successful entrepreneur like you as my granddaughter’s mentor, who else would she need?”
Xia Ruoxi’s remark effectively shut down any further words from Mao Jirou, who looked at both her and Lin Feng, unsure how to proceed.
After exchanging greetings, Lin Feng and Xia Ruoxi left. They could not afford to dawdle over a few individuals, especially since many industry leaders were present at the banquet and deserved attention.
Mao Jirou was helpless as Lin Feng and Xia Ruoxi departed. Originally, he had hoped to talk more with Lin Feng, leveraging the ambiguous relationship between Lin Feng and his granddaughter to gain advantages favorable to their family. The outcome was far from what he had expected.
Once the banquet concluded, the happiest were the domestic computer manufacturers, as Lin Feng had promised to prioritize providing them with high-definition monitors and hard drives at very reasonable prices.
As for the foreign computer companies that had received no promises at the banquet, they remained undeterred. After all, the banquet was merely a social event; real business negotiations would take place elsewhere. Tomorrow was the critical day, when they planned to visit Lin Feng’s company for face-to-face discussions on future cooperation.
On the way back, Xia Ruoxi asked Lin Feng from the car, “Why would you sell components at such low prices to domestic suppliers? That’s not like you.”
“That’s not like me? Then what do you think my style is?” Lin Feng was equally puzzled by her question and countered with one of his own.
“You must be profit-driven. I could tell during your negotiations with the Prime Minister—you wouldn’t yield an inch! What changed this time?” Xia Ruoxi offered her interpretation before asking again.
Lin Feng gazed silently out the window at the night scenery, his thoughts merging with the darkness. After a long pause, he sighed deeply, then turned to Xia Ruoxi with a heavy tone: “It’s not that I don’t want to make money; I just can’t bear to profit off them. These people aren’t like Premier Zhu. They are veteran entrepreneurs who have devoted years to revitalizing China’s tech industry. Unfortunately, without strong research and technology, they remain suppressed by foreign powers. Now that I’m part of this industry, I naturally want to look out for them.”
Xia Ruoxi nodded, half understanding.
“But don’t worry,” Lin Feng added with a playful grin, sensing the mood had grown too serious. “I’m still profit-oriented. The money I lose domestically, I’ll more than make up for by earning from those foreign computer companies!”
Xia Ruoxi wasn’t fooled. Remembering the banquet incident, she rolled her eyes and said, “You should focus on explaining that girl. You’ve been back from the island for a long time, yet I’ve never heard you mention having a girlfriend there!” She deliberately emphasized the words “girlfriend.”
Lin Feng lost his temper at the mention of the banquet incident again. He had thought it was behind them, but Xia Ruoxi was clearly still bothered.
Back at their villa, Xia Ruoxi went upstairs without a word. Lin Feng, helpless, followed her to the second-floor bedroom. As they walked, he rehearsed in his mind how to explain the matter clearly.
“If I say I was just thinking at a bar on the island and she came over to flirt with me—despite me moving seats several times, she kept following. Even after I left the bar, she clung to me! I didn’t know the way to the Iga family, so I asked her. That’s how I ended up pretending to be her boyfriend and spending half a day at the amusement park before she finally told me. It’s a bizarre story—would you believe it?” Lin Feng looked at Xia Ruoxi, who sat silently at the bedside. His voice grew smaller, lacking confidence as he spoke.
By the time he finished, Lin Feng looked as if he might cry.
“Heh!” Xia Ruoxi was amused by his dejected expression, laughing out loud.
After laughing, she coquettishly shot Lin Feng a glance and said, “Don’t play innocent. If you hadn’t refused her half-heartedly, how could she have clung to you? You must have pitied her and feared hurting her. Since nothing else happened this time, I’ll let it slide for now—but next time, be careful!”
Lin Feng was electrified by her flirtatious glance. Hearing she wasn’t going to press the matter this time, he excitedly rushed forward and planted a fierce kiss on her cheek.
“What are you doing? Disgusting! I haven’t finished speaking. Though I’m letting you off this time, I’m punishing you—you’re not allowed to touch me for a month.” Xia Ruoxi pushed him away, wiping the saliva from her face.
Lin Feng ignored her words. With such a beauty in his arms and still flushed from her teasing glance, he didn’t hesitate to scoop Xia Ruoxi up and toss her onto the bed, pouncing on her.
“Ah, you scoundrel! I don’t... want to.” Xia Ruoxi struggled against Lin Feng’s mischievous hands, trying to refuse, but her voice gradually faded, replaced by increasingly loud moans. The room was filled with the colors of spring, a breathtaking scene.
The next day, before Lin Feng and Xia Ruoxi arrived at the company, some people were already waiting for them.
“Chairman Lin, Ms. Xia, Jirou Mao and Mao Aoyuki from the island nation’s Mao family are waiting in the conference room. They wish to meet with you, Chairman Lin.” Xia Ruoxi’s secretary reported as she saw them arrive at the company.
“When did these two arrive? So early!” Lin Feng asked in surprise.
“I’m not sure, Chairman Lin. The colleague who opened the door first said they were already waiting outside when he arrived. He then escorted them to the conference room,” the secretary answered concisely.
Lin Feng and Xia Ruoxi exchanged surprised glances. They hadn’t expected Mao Jirou to go to such lengths. No wonder he was a seasoned veteran; now, Lin Feng and Xia Ruoxi felt a bit embarrassed as Mao Jirou had clearly seized the initiative.
“Let’s go meet this old fellow together. I have to admit, from a rational perspective, I really respect the old man. No wonder he’s the head of a great family!” Lin Feng turned to Xia Ruoxi, who nodded silently in agreement.
Seeing this, Lin Feng took the lead toward the conference room, with Xia Ruoxi following closely behind.
