Chapter 10: Preliminary Preparations
The next morning, as soon as Lin Feng got up, he found himself once again facing his family's endless concern.
“How are you, Feng? Did you enjoy yourself outside? Anything new to tell your mother so she can be happy?” Liu Runli asked at the breakfast table, looking at Lin Feng as he devoured his food.
“Ah, I just went out for a walk, nothing much happened,” Lin Feng replied carelessly. He dared not tell the truth; if they learned that their son had wiped out the entire Longteng gang last night, they probably wouldn’t believe it anyway.
Suddenly, Lin Feng changed the topic, brimming with confidence as he addressed Lin Chuanzi at the other end of the table, “Dad, can I borrow some money from you? I want to start my own business instead of working at your company. I need a hundred million as registered capital, and I’ll pay you back double in the future.”
“You want to start your own business? Do you have any idea how tough entrepreneurship is? Do you have a direction?” Lin Chuanzi looked at Lin Feng, curious about his confident demeanor.
“Yes, I’m ready. I want to open a company focused on high technology,” Lin Feng replied honestly.
“High technology? You’ll need an excellent research team for that. Do you have the necessary personnel?” Lin Chuanzi asked again.
“Uh, once the funds are in place, I’ll recruit staff one by one. But the technology is already there,” Lin Feng answered after a moment’s thought.
Seeing Lin Feng so confident, Lin Chuanzi didn’t want to dampen his enthusiasm. Those who haven’t ventured into entrepreneurship hardly know its hardships.
“I’ll give you five hundred million up front. If you fail, you’ll have to work at my company and learn slowly. Eventually, my company will still be handed over to you,” Lin Chuanzi said solemnly, giving instructions to Lin Feng.
“Thank you, Dad. One day you’ll see how the five hundred million you invested will bring immense wealth to the Lin family. Besides, I won’t fail, so your company is still yours to oversee!” Lin Feng joked cheerfully, delighted that Lin Chuanzi agreed to provide five hundred million.
“Ah, this kid has changed so much this month, but his habit of boasting hasn’t changed at all,” Lin Chuanzi remarked helplessly as Lin Feng continued to brag.
“Hehe…” Lin Feng could only reply awkwardly upon hearing his father’s tone of disdain.
After breakfast, Lin Feng returned to his room and excitedly asked Mo Tian, “The money’s ready. What should our first product be?”
“Let’s sell computers. Use the system and design from a brand in my dimension. I’ll copy a system that’s five years more advanced than your current computers. More advanced versions can be released later as updates,” Mo Tian replied after thinking it over.
“Computers? Developing our own system? Mo Tian, are you serious? Our country has invested huge amounts of money and teams but hasn’t managed it. Can we really do it?” Lin Feng asked excitedly.
“Are you kidding? Your Uncle Mo isn’t from your dimension. In my world, systems are already intelligent. Compared to your outdated code-based systems, I could whip up dozens of versions any time and crush your current systems,” Mo Tian boasted for once.
“Go register the company now. Recruit the necessary staff, especially someone reliable to manage it. Then let me use your body to work on the system,” Mo Tian instructed.
When it came to a trustworthy manager, Lin Feng immediately thought of Xia Ruoxi. As soon as he remembered her, he told Mo Tian, “Alright, I’ve already chosen someone. It’s the girl from that night—do you remember?”
“Oh, the one you treated specially? You handle it. The company is yours,” Mo Tian replied.
Lin Feng was speechless at Mo Tian’s noncommittal answer, but ultimately he took out his phone and called Xia Ruoxi.
In a shabby single room in a run-down urban village on the outskirts of Zhanhai City, Xia Ruoxi was preparing to submit her resume online and look for work. As for the man who’d saved her yesterday and promised to introduce her to a job, Xia Ruoxi had already dismissed it. Suddenly, the ringtone of her phone on the corner of the table interrupted her thoughts. “Damn, it’s an unknown number. Must be a spam call,” she complained, but still pressed the answer button.
“Xia Ruoxi, right? Get dressed, bring your documents, and come to the first-floor café at Haixia Plaza to meet me,” Lin Feng said directly once the call connected.
“Huh? You want me to meet you? Who are you? How did you get my number?” Xia Ruoxi asked, puzzled.
“Uh, who am I? I’m the person who saved you last night. Didn’t I say I’d introduce you to a job? Hurry up and don’t dawdle.” With that, Lin Feng hung up and got ready to leave.
“Wait, I… don’t hang up…” Before Xia Ruoxi could say another word, the phone had already beeped with the sound of disconnection.
Xia Ruoxi stared at the phone for a moment, muttered a curse, then quickly changed clothes and hurried to the address Lin Feng had given.
When she arrived at the café on the first floor of Haixia Plaza, panting from the rush, she immediately saw the young man who had saved her the night before already waiting. Xia Ruoxi quickly walked over and sat opposite him.
“So, you wanted to see me? Thank you for helping me last night, otherwise I’d have been in trouble. Let me buy you a coffee to thank you! By the way, what’s your name?” Xia Ruoxi asked as soon as she sat down.
“Call me Lin Feng. No need for coffee, I’m not used to women treating me. Of course, I have a reason for inviting you,” Lin Feng said, gazing at Xia Ruoxi with a hint of amazement. The previous night, when he rescued her, the darkness had obscured her features, but now, in daylight, he was struck by her beauty.
Her fair, flawless face carried sharp, cold contours; her deep, dark eyes shone with an enchanting brilliance; thick brows, a high nose, exquisite lips—all declared her beauty and presence. Xia Ruoxi was indeed remarkable.
“What? Lin Feng? That famous Lin Feng from Zhanhai City?” Xia Ruoxi asked nervously, looking at him.
Seeing her react as if facing a formidable enemy, Lin Feng broke out in a slight sweat. What was going on? Was his name really that intimidating? In the end, he nodded, “Yes, I suppose I am the Lin Feng you’re thinking of.”
“It’s really you? What do you want? Why are you looking for me?” Confirming his identity, Xia Ruoxi quickly slid her chair back, tense and wary.
Lin Feng could only shake his head helplessly at her reaction. Now he believed his name really was intimidating. He slid a bank card across the table to her and said, “There’s a hundred million in the card. Register a company for me called ‘Future Tech Ltd.’ Starting now, you’re hired.”
“What? Register a company? A hundred million?” Xia Ruoxi asked in shock.
“Yes, the initial capital is a hundred million, and more can be added later. If you know my name, you know I’m not short of money,” Lin Feng explained patiently.
