Chapter 59: I Am an Ordinary Person
Perhaps it was because Instructor Moon Fox and Wei Zheng had an ambiguous relationship. At the first sign of danger to Wei Zheng’s lower half, Moon Fox shot forward to rescue him.
Moon Rush!
Moon Fox’s body suddenly accelerated, the air around him forming a crescent-shaped current, surging forth like a rushing moon. This was Moon Fox’s signature charge, capable of doubling his speed in an instant, while the crescent-shaped airflow could also smash into enemies.
Chen Mo allowed himself a faint smile. Instructor Moon Fox, forgive me!
Shadow Blade, Second Form—Raging Blade!
One bloodied claw continued to assault Wei Zheng while the other unleashed the Raging Blade. Physical attack power soared by 150%, and the S-class battle talent—Wrath of the War God—activated! The attack effect doubled!
Physical attack up by 300%!
Boom!
A terrifying blood claw burst into five streams of crimson energy, tearing through the air, rending the ground, sending rocks flying and rebar whipping through the air!
Moon Fox’s crescent airflow hadn’t even reached Chen Mo before it fractured into four or five pieces. Debris buried Moon Fox, steel bars wrapped his body and drove deep into the ground, leaving him completely immobilized.
Relying on his formidable mental control, Chen Mo avoided inflicting fatal wounds on Moon Fox, merely pinning him to the ground. After all, they’d spent nearly a month together. Moon Fox had even led Chen Mo to a private classroom, teaching him countless combat techniques hand-in-hand—how could Chen Mo ever harm his own instructor?
“Moon Fox!” the Jester Instructor cried out, seeing Moon Fox submerged beneath rubble and fearing for his life. Tears shone in his eyes, bloodshot with rage. His body underwent a monstrous transformation—four extra arms sprouted from his back, making six in total, each clutching a three-meter silver spear, making him appear utterly monstrous.
It turned out this Jester had chosen a human class, awakening a special ability—Six Arms! His body could mutate, growing six arms.
Six arms, six silver spears, lunging at Chen Mo from six directions!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—
The sound of air splitting thundered in Chen Mo’s ears, a chaotic flurry of silver and the roar of spears.
An ordinary person would have long since lost their rhythm under the onslaught of six-armed spear attacks, forced to retreat in defeat—after all, who had ever fought an enemy with six arms?
But Chen Mo cared not whether his opponent had six arms or eight. In his eyes, any attack carried a flaw. Besides, he’d spent the past month training in Jeet Kune Do, absorbing its very essence—having no way as the way, having no limit as the limit!
Acute angles! Obtuse angles! Right angles! Reflex angles!
With a single glance, Chen Mo read the trajectory of all six spears. Jeet Kune Do—the theory of complementarity, speed countering speed!
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
Sparks flew with each impact, the metallic clamor like a heavy metal symphony.
Jester’s expression shifted from rage, to shock, and finally to terror. His six arms, six spears, each strike reaching afterimage speed, their angles devilishly precise.
Yet the opponent seemed to foresee every move, blocking each spear in advance. What truly sent chills down his spine was that every angle at which Chen Mo parried was exactly 180 degrees opposite his own—perfectly complementary!
It was as if the opponent suffered from a compulsion—never a degree more, never a degree less—each weapon clash always adding up to 180 degrees!
Wei Zheng, more serious than ever, exclaimed, “Jeet Kune Do! He’s using Jeet Kune Do! He’s fused it with those terrifying blood claws! Drumstick, go free Moon Fox! Black Bear, Jester, the three of us will attack him together!”
“Yes!” Black Bear and Jester wore identical grave expressions. Against such a formidable foe, they could no longer afford to worry about fairness. If this man wasn’t eliminated, he would become a disaster!
Roar!
Black Bear let out a furious bellow, his body shrouded in a thick, tangible silver shield. This was Black Bear’s defensive skill—Shield of Loyalty—capable of blocking 1,000 points of damage, its effectiveness increasing the lower his health dropped.
“I’ll take him head-on. You two flank him!” Black Bear rumbled.
Swish! Swish!
Wei Zheng and Jester darted left and right, kicking up dust. Two crescent arcs of light flashed by at incredible speed!
And Black Bear, towering at two meters, grew even bigger after activating his shield, truly resembling a black bear.
[Shield Slam]
Black Bear hurled his entire bulk forward, body becoming a massive shield as he crashed toward Chen Mo.
Boom, boom, boom!
With every step, the earth trembled. Screws rattled loose from the factory ceiling; planks and rebar crashed down.
The students of Pingli Middle School could never have imagined that the instructors they so feared now fought against the F-class students they’d always looked down on.
Excellent!
Fireball!
Chen Mo spread his bloodied claws, flames erupting from his palms to form two basketball-sized fireballs.
With a focus stat of 80, Chen Mo could easily split his attention, casting two fireballs at once.
Go!
Crackle! Sizzle!
The flames crackled as the fireballs shot left and right, intercepting Wei Zheng and Jester exactly where they’d planned to ambush him!
What?!
Wei Zheng and Jester wore identical expressions—stunned beyond belief!
Wasn’t this vampire a warrior? How—how could he cast magic!?
Wei Zheng and Jester were forced to twist mid-air to dodge the fireballs, but this evasion instantly relieved the pressure of a pincer attack on Chen Mo, leaving only Black Bear, the tank, to face him.
Boom, boom, boom! Black Bear’s shield slam bore down on him.
Chen Mo withdrew the blood claws from his right hand, fingers curling into a fist. Breath, intent, fist—body and will as one!
Within Jeet Kune Do was a lethal technique—the One-Inch Punch!
It was the invincible One-Inch Punch that made Bruce Lee a legend, evolved from Wing Chun’s “inch-force punch” into Jeet Kune Do’s ultimate trump card.
The One-Inch Punch focused on delivering maximum force in a short range, knocking down foes with explosive power.
“Roar! Die!!” Black Bear barreled forward like a human tank, poised to steamroll Chen Mo.
But Chen Mo remained perfectly still, waiting for the charge.
Ten meters! Five meters! One meter! Fifty centimeters! Ten centimeters! Five centimeters!
This was it.
Five centimeters!
Chen Mo’s muscles contracted with a sharp crack of bone.
Invincible One-Inch Punch!
Hada—
Chen Mo’s right fist shot out like a bullet at that impossibly short distance.
Utter simplicity, utter fluidity, utter power, utter ferocity!
Boom!
Black Bear’s Shield of Loyalty shattered instantly. His chest caved in, ribcage nearly collapsing into his back. He flew backward, smashing through oil drums and snapping rebar, finally crashing into the wall, blasting a massive hole.
“Black Bear!!” Wei Zheng’s roar was hoarse. Black Bear, Moon Fox, Jester, Drumstick—these four, together with Wei Zheng, had entered Cloud and Mist Academy together, trained, evolved, and completed missions side by side; the five of them were closer than brothers.
“Who are you?! Who on earth are you?!” Wei Zheng screamed, fury and anguish in his voice. He was nothing like the calm, confident, and arrogant Wei Zheng Chen Mo remembered; now, he was a raging lion, ready to tear Chen Mo to pieces at any moment.
For some reason, seeing the usually untouchable Wei Zheng so distraught brought Chen Mo immense satisfaction.
Cough, cough.
Chen Mo deliberately lowered his voice, icily replying, “I’m just an ordinary person.”
