Chapter 45: Teacher, Are You Alright?
Chen Mo hesitated, “So, should I throw a punch now?”
Feng Mingguang smiled gently, “Don’t be nervous. Just think of me as a sandbag and punch me.”
Looking at Feng Mingguang’s calm and masterful demeanor, Chen Mo thought to himself, this man must be formidable. Why not try and see for himself just how powerful Jeet Kune Do really is?
So, Chen Mo clenched his fist and shouted, “Here I come! Watch out!”
Swish—
With no angle or feint, Chen Mo threw a direct punch straight at Feng Mingguang’s chest.
Bang!!
A solid punch landed squarely on Feng Mingguang’s chest, sending his body staggering back two or three meters. He stared dumbfounded at Chen Mo. What? What just happened?
The punch was so fast it completely surpassed the limits of his eyesight. Even with thirty years of Jeet Kune Do experience, capable of reading the wind and following the flow, his brain sensed the blow ahead of time, but his body simply couldn’t react. The speed was overwhelming!
Below, more than a hundred students stared wide-eyed. Feng Mingguang couldn’t afford to lose face here. He coughed twice and said, “Class, did you see that? This is the result of not having learned Jeet Kune Do. Now, I’ll demonstrate to you how Jeet Kune Do deals with such attacks!”
Feng Mingguang thought to himself that he must have been distracted. How could an ordinary high school student throw such a fast punch? He himself was an Evolver, had already cleared the standard difficulty, and had accumulated 100,000 points to buy the Warrior character pack, using all extra points to boost his physique. His stat was as high as 20! Add to that thirty years of Jeet Kune Do combat experience—even a Moon Fox wouldn’t stand a chance against him without using skills.
An illusion! It must have been an illusion! How could a mere student from Class F be faster than him?
“You, throw another punch!”
Chen Mo nodded, “Be careful, here I come!”
As soon as he spoke, Chen Mo punched again!
This time, Feng Mingguang’s mind was sharper than ever. He caught the trajectory, calculated the angle—good, this time I’ll block your attack…
Bang!!
Lightning fast, as quick as thunder! Feng Mingguang’s arm had barely lifted before his body was sent flying back another two meters!
“Teacher, are you alright?” Chen Mo asked with concern.
Feng Mingguang’s face turned ashen in an instant. He felt utterly humiliated. This student—how could he be so monstrous? How could his speed be so terrifying? Could he have awakened some sort of combat talent? At this rate, his reputation would be ruined.
Seeing Feng Mingguang frozen and pale-faced, Chen Mo thought he’d done something wrong and quickly said, “Teacher, did I do something wrong? Was my punch off? Should I try again?”
“No, no, no!” Feng Mingguang waved his hand in panic. “Ahem, well, actually, I just remembered—you’re all students. I’m afraid you might not be able to withstand my punch, so let’s not test this any further. You—please return to your seat.”
Chen Mo, completely baffled, thought, What about Jeet Kune Do? Weren’t you going to show me how it works? Is that it?
There was nothing he could do but step down.
Feng Mingguang didn’t dare to call on another student for a demonstration and immediately began the lesson. “Jeet Kune Do emphasizes complementary relationships, much like the interplay between acute, right, and obtuse angles in a triangle. Consider the horizon as a right angle. If your opponent uses an acute angle or takes an attacking stance, you counter with an obtuse angle to defend, compensating for their weakness and counterattacking. Conversely, if your opponent uses an obtuse angle, you respond with an acute angle for the same reasons: to fill their gaps and strike back…”
It had to be said—Master Feng Mingguang truly lived up to his reputation. His thirty years of experience made his explanations vivid and engaging. The students followed his lead, switching between acute, right, and obtuse attack positions, not only with their hands but minding their footwork as well.
Time flew by, and the afternoon training session ended in a flash.
When the bell rang, the students were in no hurry to leave. Instead, Feng Mingguang was the first to make his exit, as if he could no longer bear to stay.
The students had no idea Feng Mingguang left out of embarrassment after being bested by Chen Mo twice. They respectfully called out, “Farewell, Teacher!”
After training, all the students gathered in front of the library for the day’s second dungeon challenge.
Though Chen Mo had trained in Jeet Kune Do all afternoon, he still couldn’t break through the hell-level “No Way Out” checkpoint. He had figured out the technique: he needed to use the carnivorous fish as stepping stones to rush across. In theory, it sounded simple, but in practice, it was nearly impossible. Meteors and fire rained from above and below, and in the middle, fifty carnivorous fish snapped and bit. Chen Mo tried to leap onto their backs, but every time, he was bitten and lost a leg, dying again and again—total wipeout!
Thankfully, the Little Prince ID had one challenge attempt left, extending the distance from 1,000 to 1,500 meters. Instructor Moon Fox praised his progress highly.
After the dungeon challenge, Chen Mo, his sister, Ding Yan, and Ye Zhiyan had dinner together before heading off to evening self-study.
Special-grade teacher Xu Jingrong beamed as Chen Mo entered the classroom, her enthusiasm for teaching multiplied tenfold.
Chen Mo lost himself in the ocean of mathematics. By the end of the self-study session, his Deep Thought +1!
That night, returning to the dorm, Chen Mo held his breath, gently opened the door, and carefully switched on the light. He expected to catch another glimpse of the “little white rabbit,” but to his surprise, his roommate had already wrapped her chest in a white cloth.
“Judging by your disappointed face, want me to take it off so you can get another look?” The buzz-cut roommate’s tone was utterly calm, as if it weren’t her own body.
“No, that’s not what I meant… ahem, good evening.” Faced with such an odd female roommate, Chen Mo was at a loss.
She replied coolly, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll sleep now. Don’t forget to turn off the light.”
“Wait!” Chen Mo called out.
“Heh, a man after all. Regret it? Or do you just want to look again?” she teased.
Feeling wrongly accused, Chen Mo retorted, “Who wants to look at a tomboy’s chest? I’d rather look at my own. I just want to know your name. We’re in the same dorm, after all.”
“Oh?” She seemed surprised by his response. “I’m Shangguan Chaoyue.”
Pfft—
Chen Mo couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
“Is it that funny?”
Chen Mo quickly shook his head, “No, not at all, I didn’t mean that… pfft—” He couldn’t help but laugh again.
Shangguan Chaoyue didn’t mind. “I know you. You’re Chen Mo, the top student Ning Xuan’s brother.”
At the mention of his sister, Chen Mo grew serious. “So, you’re interested in my sister?”
Shangguan Chaoyue’s voice rose dramatically. “That’s right! My goal is your sister! In next month’s class advancement tournament, my challenge target is your sister!”
Chen Mo smirked, “Oh? Is that so? I don’t think you’ll get the chance! Judging by your chest—I mean, your uniform, you’re from Class B. Since you want to challenge my sister, I’ll challenge you! If you lose, you forfeit your right to challenge her!”
“Hahaha!” Shangguan Chaoyue laughed for the first time. “You? From Class F? Fine, I’ll be waiting!”
With that, she flipped lightly onto the upper bunk and lay down.
