Chapter 146: Team Training
Not a single one of the twenty teams slacked off; all of them were busy practicing cooperative combat and skill combinations.
Everyone understood that tomorrow was the first step of their great lives, tomorrow was their opportunity to shine, and everyone wanted to seize glory tomorrow.
That night, in the dormitory.
Chen Mo returned to the room smelling sweaty and foul. Just as he was about to take a shower, he noticed someone was already inside. A faint fragrance drifted out, which meant Shangguan Chaoyue was bathing.
The middle of the door was made of frosted glass. Although he couldn't see inside, he could vaguely make out Shangguan Chaoyue's slender and graceful silhouette.
Bah!
He must have lost his mind, actually having fantasies about the silhouette of this tomboy.
Chen Mo quickly looked away, returning to his desk to organize his belongings.
Creak—
At that moment, the door opened.
White steam billowed out from the bathroom, mixed with the unique natural fragrance of Shangguan Chaoyue's body.
Frightened, Chen Mo immediately turned around. *Must not look, must not look.*
Seeing Chen Mo's terrified expression, Shangguan Chaoyue suddenly felt a twinge of sadness. The male identity she was so proud of had lost to Chen Mo, yet Chen Mo reacted to her female body with the terror of a frightened mouse.
This was truly the ultimate irony for Shangguan Chaoyue.
Shangguan Chaoyue said, "Hey, actually, after today's training, I realize I might have misjudged you earlier. You're not a despicable and shameless scoundrel."
"Then I suppose I should thank you!" Chen Mo curled his lips.
Shangguan Chaoyue continued, "So, to express my apology, I can let you see my body once!"
Bah!
Chen Mo said righteously, "Shangguan Chaoyue! Can a girl have some self-respect? You can't just show your body to people casually, you know?"
Shangguan Chaoyue calmly replied, "Aside from showing you, I haven't shown anyone else. Besides, I've said it many times—don't treat me like a woman! I hate this gender! I only thought you wanted to see it, so I was just satisfying you. Since you don't want to look, forget it!"
With that, right in front of Chen Mo, Shangguan Chaoyue began wrapping her chest with white cloth once again.
Male desire tempted Chen Mo to turn around—just a glance, just one look.
Yet male dignity restrained Chen Mo from turning back, lest he appear shallow and act like a pervert.
*So what if I'm a pervert!*
Chen Mo finally turned his head. *Huh? Where is she?*
During the moment Chen Mo was hesitating over whether to turn around, Shangguan Chaoyue had already climbed into bed and gone to sleep.
Ah—
Chen Mo was on the verge of a breakdown. Sharing a dormitory with such a tormenting woman who insisted on viewing herself as a man was simply unbearable.
Taking off his clothes, he stepped into the bathroom. Strangely enough, the soap had reappeared, and Shangguan Chaoyue's changed clothes were neatly placed on the drying rack.
Chen Mo now strongly suspected that this Shangguan Chaoyue was no man at all, but a vixen deliberately trying to seduce him!
...
The next day, 8:00 AM!
All twenty teams stood neatly on the playground.
The five instructors also arrived on time.
Three large buses rolled into the students' field of vision. The students boarded the buses in batches, which then drove out of the campus.
The other students who lacked the qualifications to board the buses could only stand at the school gate, watching longingly and seeing them off.
"Have a safe journey!"
"Disappear halfway!"
The bus had been driving for an hour, yet they had not reached their destination. Some of the students had already fallen asleep.
Chen Mo, however, maintained a high level of vigilance at all times, observing the scenery outside the bus window.
The bus had already left Xingcheng City. Judging from the smart brain's map, it appeared to be heading northwest. As they traveled further out of the city, the white dots representing civilization grew scarcer, until it was practically a desolate wilderness.
After hitting the highway, the bus drove for nearly another hour, finally stopping right at the midpoint between Xingcheng City and another city, Yangyi City.
Upon disembarking, Instructor Wei Zheng took a headcount and said sternly, "Our destination today is deep within the mountains, so we must proceed on foot. First, we will go ahead to rendezvous with the main force. Everyone keep up and do not fall behind!"
Instructors Wei Zheng and Yue Hu walked at the very front, Instructor Chicken Leg and Instructor Fatty flanked the sides of the formation, and Instructor Comical brought up the rear. Moving in this formation, they marched for nearly an hour, hacking through brambles and thorns as they crossed a rugged and difficult stretch of wild mountain forest.
Fortunately, having experienced all sorts of desperate situations, traps, and complex terrains in the beginner副本 (instances), the students were not particularly frightened.
However, reality was not a game after all. A small fraction of the students remained somewhat nervous, beads of sweat dotting their brows as if five giant apes might leap out from the surroundings at any moment to snatch them away—the lingering aftereffects of Temple Run.
"Look, quick look! People! So many people!" a student exclaimed loudly.
The students cast their gazes forward and saw a vast, flat grassy field packed with a dense mass of soldiers standing at attention. These soldiers were uniformly clad in black uniforms, wearing steel helmets, with long swords strapped to their backs and various modern firearms in their hands—rifles, sniper rifles, submachine guns, a dazzling variety!
Without a doubt, this was the Shadow Legion!
As expected of the regular Shadow Legion! Standing together in such neat formation, completely motionless, they emanated a suffocating sense of oppression!
Behind the Shadow Legion were the students from the other three schools, wearing their respective school uniforms. Anyone unaware might have mistaken it for a school spring outing, as they appeared considerably more lax.
Wei Zheng lowered his voice and commanded, "Keep up, line up strictly in formation, and take your places right behind the Shadow Legion!"
The twenty teams, arranged in rows of ten and ten rows deep, formed a small square phalanx at the rear of the troops.
"Oh my, isn't this Chief Instructor Wei Zheng of Pingli Middle School? What's this, running late, are we?" The speaker was Fang Zhongyong, chief instructor of Mingde Middle School, who was a member of the same generation of Baiyun Canggou veterans as Wei Zheng.
Wei Zheng calmly replied, "Compared to your other three schools, Pingli Middle School is located the furthest away. We were delayed somewhat by traffic congestion in the downtown area along the way."
Fang Zhongyong sneered, "Just like back in the base, you always have an excuse!"
Anyone with discerning eyes could see that Fang Zhongyong was deliberately taunting Wei Zheng. Yet Wei Zheng had a good temper and did not argue back.
A student from Pingli Middle School had a fiery temper and couldn't bear it any longer, snapping, "Who do you think you are, picking on our instructor!"
The students of Mingde Middle School instantly had their emotions ignited as well, shouting back, "What the hell are you lot, daring to curse at our instructor!"
Had the instructors not intervened in time, the students from the two schools would have nearly broken into a brawl.
"Silence!!" A voice boomed through a megaphone from the front of the Shadow Legion. "This is a battlefield, not a school! You are not students, but soldiers!! I really overestimated you. I said from the beginning that I refused to let students participate, but the higher-ups wouldn't listen. As expected, you're just a bunch of brats who accomplish nothing and ruin everything!!"
Many of the students were proud and hot-tempered. Hearing someone whose identity was unknown belittle them so severely, several students even blurted out recklessly, "Then what kind of thing are you?!"
Swish, swish, swish!
Over a thousand shadow soldiers turned in unison, drawing their swords and raising their guns in one fluid motion.
A wave of murderous intent washed over them instantly!
All the students froze in place, struck by the absolute intuition that if they dared to utter a single word more, these people would open fire without the slightest hesitation.
