Chapter 131: The Qilin Divine Beast
Although Young Master Wei spoke of fleeing, his body was honest; from the very beginning, he had never once intended to run!
Seeing the golden Qilin’s suppression and the sky full of illusions, Young Master Wei performed a sleight of hand. The feathered fan that had clearly exploded moments ago reappeared in his grasp.
"Peacock!"
With a low shout, the white fan instantly transformed into a vibrant, multicolored one; the goose feathers had turned into peacock plumes! It was truly miraculous—the fan could constantly change form. Chen Mo attempted to analyze the fan with his intelligent brain, but the system was powerless. Could it be an S-rank weapon?
"Peacock spreads its tail!"
Young Master Wei’s red lotus battle robe rippled without wind, fluttering with a soft sound. As the peacock fan opened, he swept it forcefully toward the overwhelming pressure of the golden Qilin divine beast!
*Awoo!*
A peacock’s cry rang out. The fan conjured a semi-transparent illusion of a peacock, which stretched its neck and sang, spread its wings, and unleashed a volley of feathers!
*Swish, swish, swish!*
The feathers from the illusion transformed into hidden weapons, raining down upon the Qilin like a storm of pear blossoms.
"Too weak!" Riding atop the divine beast, Chen Mo ignored the volley entirely. Wielding his S-rank golden blades in both hands, he unleashed a cross-slash!
*Clang, clang, clang!*
Every feather that touched Chen Mo’s body shattered instantly.
*Boom!*
The peacock illusion exploded. In truth, with Young Master Wei’s current strength, he was incapable of materializing energy; he had merely used a parlor trick, utilizing the fan and its feathers to create a phantasmal projection.
*Pfft!*
Young Master Wei spat out a mouthful of blood, a shocking cross-shaped wound carved into his chest.
"Young Master Wei!" The Nine-Star White Clouds, the commanders of the White Cloud and Stray Dog squad, could no longer stand by. They were the proud White Cloud and Stray Dog; the idea of a student covering their retreat was unbearable. If they survived like this, what would it matter?
"Brothers, show them our true strength! Don’t let a student outshine us! Behold, my Star Sword Technique!"
Nine-Star White Clouds stepped according to the Big Dipper, his sword aura swirling—a flashy and dazzling display.
*Squelch!*
However, before he could fully unleash his technique, Chen Mo, riding the golden Qilin, appeared before him as if by teleportation. With a simple swipe of the beast’s claw, Nine-Star White Clouds was flattened into a pulp.
"Captain!" The other four members’ eyes turned bloodshot. United in their grief and rage, they unleashed their ultimate moves upon Chen Mo.
Chen Mo attacked without defending, pushing through their onslaught with a Four-Fold Slash! One sword, four strikes—four golden sword auras cleaved the four members in two.
*Ding! Ding! Ding!*
Three items dropped. Two were ordinary C-rank weapons that Chen Mo disdained, but to his utter surprise, the Nine-Star White Cloud Robe had dropped! Yes, the very white robe the members wore had manifested as equipment.
Chen Mo picked it up in astonishment.
[Nine-Star White Cloud Robe]
[Quality: None, Player-Crafted]
[Attributes: Strength +5, Constitution +5, Agility +5; Magic +5, Qi Sea +5, Meditation +5]
"Oh? Interesting. Player-crafted? How is this made? Could it be from another high-level dungeon?" Chen Mo carefully placed the robe into the Great Demon King’s storage space; his intuition told him it would be useful later.
"Alright! The White Cloud members are finished. Now, Young Master Wei!"
Looking at the rankings, Young Master Wei was only one point behind Ning Xuan. To ensure his sister secured the top reward for the dungeon, Chen Mo had to eliminate him.
Stricken by the cross-slash, Young Master Wei’s wounds were being infected by the S-rank zombie virus, causing his movements to become sluggish. Chen Mo didn't want to give him a chance. Riding the Qilin, he charged forward, holding his blades high toward the young man’s head.
"Young Master Wei, my apologies." Just as Chen Mo was about to strike, two frost rays shot out, hitting the weapons in his hands. The golden blades instantly froze, encased in ice.
It turned out that Ning Xuan had already left, but the thought of Young Master Wei stepping up for her tugged at her heart. If she had just run away, her brother would surely mock her for being spineless. So, she had doubled back, firing frost rays. If she couldn't freeze the zombie, she would freeze its weapons!
"You ugly thing! Get away!" Ning Xuan chirped in her milky voice.
*Huh?*
Chen Mo suppressed a laugh. *Well, well, Ning Xuan, you dare call your own brother an ugly thing? You’re done for! You are truly done for!*
*Swish!*
Chen Mo vanished, reappearing behind Ning Xuan in a heartbeat. As a mage, how could her reaction speed compete with an S-rank zombie?
Chen Mo delivered a sharp smack to her backside!
*Smack!*
"Ah!" Ning Xuan shrieked, both ashamed and furious. "You—you zombie, you pervert! How dare you hit my bottom! Ahhh! I’ll fight you to the death!"
Young Master Wei was stunned. *Is this S-rank zombie really this human-like? Even if Ning Xuan is cute, he shouldn't be patting her behind so intimately, right? Could it be that this S-rank zombie is some kind of pedophilic monster?*
Ignoring his own injuries, Young Master Wei struggled to stand, taking a defensive stance in front of Ning Xuan, teeth gritted. "Ning Xuan, run! There’s something wrong with this zombie!"
Seeing Young Master Wei trying so desperately to protect her, Chen Mo felt a pang of reluctance. Young Master Wei had saved Ning Xuan once in the school cafeteria when her beastly personality had nearly caused her to kill a classmate.
*I, the Great Demon King, am not one to ignore a debt of gratitude,* Chen Mo thought. *Looking at his heavy injuries, he’s unlikely to farm any more points anyway.*
*Swish!*
Chen Mo flicked his wrist, lifting Ning Xuan through the air and pulling her onto the back of the golden Qilin.
Ning Xuan struggled desperately, tears welling in her eyes. "You ugly thing! Let me go! Ahhh! I’m going to tell my brother to kill you! My brother is super powerful! Waaaah!"
"Ning Xuan!" Young Master Wei slammed his palms into the ground, using the recoil to spring forward toward Chen Mo.
*Damn? You’re going that far?*
Chen Mo felt a twinge of jealousy. *Is it really necessary to risk your life for my sister?!*
Chen Mo raised his hands, whipping up a vortex of sand that engulfed Young Master Wei.
"Giddy-up!"
Chen Mo slapped the Qilin’s rear. The divine beast felt insulted—*I am not a horse, what are you giddy-upping for?*—but it dared not speak, only sprinting away in a frenzy.
"Let go! Let me go, you ugly thing!" Ning Xuan struggled, but she could not break free from the Great Demon King’s grasp.
Chen Mo brought her to the S-zone of the map.
*ROAR!*
Chen Mo let out a howl toward the sky. Immediately, hundreds of A-rank zombies in the S-zone gathered respectfully and knelt before him.
With a half-moon slash, a hundred-meter-long golden aura sliced off half the heads of the hundred zombies, leaving each one with just a sliver of health remaining.
Ning Xuan was bewildered. *What is this boss trying to do? Brother, where are you? I want to go home!*
