Chapter 115: Brother Kun–Style Exorcism
With this fatal “chopstick strike” from the Boat Captain, the entire room fell into stunned silence; even the vengeful spirit appeared taken aback. If not for that fool, I probably would have been finished just now!
The Boat Captain flicked his tiger-engraved cloak with practiced ease—every movement smooth and confident, clearly the result of countless repetitions. Without thousands of swings behind him, he could never muster such force!
“How dare you make a move on my territory! You’re asking for death!” the Boat Captain bellowed, his gaze sweeping over everyone.
Yet, Ye Kun couldn’t shake the feeling that the Boat Captain seemed... well, a bit off. There looked to be a piece of vegetable stuck between his teeth, and the corner of his mouth twitched awkwardly. Oh, heavens...
The vengeful spirit slowly turned to face the Boat Captain.
The Captain froze for a moment, then sternly declared, “As a Sword Emperor, bullying a child is truly heartbreaking! Child, are you alright?”
Everyone gaped in disbelief as the Boat Captain stepped forward, squatted before the spirit, and gently pinched its cheek.
Good heavens!
My dear Boat Captain, perhaps it’s better if you just stay out of sight next time—you’re courting death like this.
“Captain! That’s a vengeful spirit! The one just now is a Five-Trigram Exorcist, performing an exorcism!” Finally, someone’s conscience kicked in, shouting this crucial information to the Captain.
The Boat Captain paused, then patted the spirit’s cheek apologetically. “If you’d told me you were a vengeful spirit earlier, I wouldn’t have come out. Sorry for the disturbance...”
Everyone was speechless.
Snapping out of its daze, the spirit slapped the Boat Captain hard.
Bang!
The poor Captain was sent flying, crashing into nearby tables and chairs, leaving a mess in his wake.
Shaking his head, the Captain looked dazed and called out, “Hey, stop coughing up blood! Hurry and exorcise it!”
The dazed Empty Glance glared at the Captain. Honestly, if given a choice between the spirit and the Captain, he’d be tempted to dispatch the Captain first.
“You’re the most foolish human I’ve ever seen. I truly pity your kind,” the vengeful spirit snarled at the Captain and slowly advanced. Those near the Captain scattered immediately.
With a heavy heart, the Boat Captain muttered, “There’s a vengeful spirit? Is there only one exorcist here?”
At that, all eyes turned to Ye Kun.
“Captain, there’s a professional exorcist here!” someone quickly shouted. Though the person looked unreliable, they were grasping at straws.
The Captain looked toward Ye Kun and his group, calling out, “Exorcist! Hold your ground! I’ll go back, gear up, and come to assist immediately!”
And with that, the Captain slipped away.
Seeing even the Captain retreat, everyone else hurriedly fled as well. The once bustling “Concern Room” fell into sudden silence.
Yuan Zhen and Feng Dian exchanged glances. Though Brother Kun was formidable, this spirit probably wouldn’t fear his sharpness.
Besides, if Brother Kun started bleeding, they’d better run quickly and seek help.
“Brother! Let me handle this! You and sister-in-law get out of here!” Ye Qin shouted fiercely, drawing his sword with a clang.
Yuan Zhen sighed. Ye Qin was truly loyal, but brother, have you considered that stepping up now might be a bit premature?
“Little brother, let me try first. If I can’t manage it, you step in,” Ye Kun said, wanting to save face for his younger brother. The kid had faced enough setbacks; prolonged hardship could cause lasting trauma.
Ye Qin glared at the spirit and took a few steps back.
Empty Glance, lying on the ground and coughing blood, suddenly laughed. “You’d better leave quickly. This spirit is beyond your ability.”
Ye Kun looked at the young master Empty Glance. Though utterly hypocritical, at this moment, the man actually showed a sliver of conscience.
“Get some rest,” Ye Kun said calmly.
Empty Glance was startled—had he misjudged this man?
“Another foolish human! And a bald one at that, though at least he’s not wearing a monk’s robe,” the spirit muttered, clearly having encountered many bald men before. But Ye Kun’s face twisted at this remark.
His wife could call him bald all she wanted, but for a vengeful spirit to mock him? Unforgivable!
For some reason, when the spirit noticed Ye Kun’s sudden change in expression, it felt a chill of dread. That sinister smile was truly terrifying.
If Ye Kun wore that expression in any other setting, staring down a young girl, it would be downright unsettling.
Luckily, Ye Kun faced away from everyone; only Empty Glance saw that twisted visage.
Who was this man, really?
Ye Kun slowly approached the spirit, gently placing his right hand on its shoulder. “What did you just call me?”
The spirit frowned, feeling as if a mountain had pressed down on its left shoulder, draining all strength.
This bald-headed man...
Ye Kun placed his other hand on the spirit’s shoulder and repeated, “What did you call me?”
A wave of inexplicable terror surged through the spirit, even more intense than the dragon’s earlier attack.
“Brother...” it whispered.
Phut!
Empty Glance spat blood again and fainted.
Why was this happening? The situation mirrored one from long ago...
Ye Qin was stunned. How did brother manage that? Why did the spirit call him that?
Yuan Zhen and Feng Dian were momentarily dazed before shouting, “Brother Kun is amazing! Brother Kun, I love you!”
Ye Li and Yan Mu’er knew the little bald head was playing it cool, but couldn’t help showing admiration.
Dong Ci and Da Ci frowned slightly, sensing a different kind of cultivation method from their teacher.
Though the teacher could have easily resolved the matter, he chose a subtle approach, keeping others unaware.
It sounded easy in words, but was truly difficult and required great mental acuity.
The vengeful spirit was unlucky to cross paths with Brother Kun. Had it been struck down by the dragon’s blow earlier, it would have died peacefully.
Ye Kun’s expression gradually returned to normal as he spoke gravely, “Not bad. Under my merciful gaze, you’ve finally let down your guard.”
The vengeful spirit trembled. Merciful gaze? That was a death stare! Damn bald man—shameless and despicable human!
“Answer me, little sister,” Ye Kun said, maintaining the act. After all, his wife and others didn’t know his true strength.
Look! So merciful, yet threatening!
“Yes. Under your merciful gaze, brother, I have recognized my true nature.”
Ye Kun nodded. “Good. Such enlightenment means your nature isn’t entirely corrupt. You might have a chance to be reborn as a human next life.”
“Really?” the spirit asked doubtfully. Who wouldn’t want a chance to be reborn as a human?
“Of course. As a professional exorcist, I wouldn’t lie to you,” Ye Kun said earnestly.
Da Ci suddenly realized the teacher had changed. Before, he could talk people to death; now, he managed to coax them into submission instead.
