Chapter Ten: Subjugating the Vampire Clan [Subscription Requested]
Three days later, at the stroke of midnight.
In the suburbs of London, a grand ball was underway within a magnificent vampire castle. Elegant vampires dressed in fine silks and velvets, accompanied by alluring vampire dancers, whirled across the ballroom floor. To an uninitiated observer, it might have appeared as if some great nobleman were hosting an extravagant gala.
"I believe you all understand why I have summoned you here tonight. The beasts of the Lycan clan have grown increasingly rampant of late, and the human authorities have begun to exert pressure on our kind. I intend to reactivate the Order of the Death Dealers to annihilate these beasts once and for all. Those in favor, please cast your vote!"
At that moment, a noblewoman seated at the head of the hall stood up. She raised her wine glass and spoke, her voice crisp, resolute, and brimming with an unquestionable authority that marked her as a figure long accustomed to power. Clad in a gorgeous evening gown that accentuated her curvaceous, full-figured silhouette, and wearing heavy, ornate makeup, she radiated an air of aristocratic elegance in every gesture.
"By the way," the noblewoman continued, her gaze sweeping across the room toward the empty seat beside Kraven, "why is Selene’s Death Dealer unit not present for this meeting?"
"Elder Amelia, you may not be aware, but Selene and her Death Dealers have not returned to the castle for three days," a young white man replied, bowing gracefully toward the head of the table.
"Such a major matter, and no one saw fit to inform me?" The noblewoman’s fox-like eyes narrowed, flickering with suspicion as she scanned the crowd.
When she noticed everyone’s gaze drifting toward a man sitting in the front row—who was still humming a tune to himself—her expression tightened. Suppressing her irritation, she addressed him directly: "Kraven, surely you know what is going on. Victor’s forces have always been under your command; you must be aware of Selene’s whereabouts, right?"
"Oh my god... the Death Dealers have gone missing? That’s a joke!"
"Since when do those executioners play games of hide-and-seek? This is the first time I've heard of such a thing..."
"Could that woman, who reeks of werewolf stench, have defected with her team? That would be wonderful. I’m tired of smelling that disgusting odor on her..."
"Indeed. I don't know what Elder Victor saw in her to make her his adopted daughter..."
As the noblewoman spoke, the hall erupted in murmurs.
"Quiet! Everyone, settle down!" Kraven stood, a faint, detached smile on his face. He raised his hands, signaling for silence.
"Kraven, what on earth are you up to?" The noblewoman narrowed her eyes at him, her suspicion deepening. In her memory, Kraven had always been a humble, polite, and gentlemanly aristocrat. Today, however, he was acting completely out of character—not only was he arrogant, but he dared to ignore her questions. Everything about his behavior struck her as deeply abnormal.
"Selene and the others have not disappeared; they have simply gone to serve the great and divine God," Kraven declared. He ignored the noblewoman’s displeased glare and raised his hands, delivering his speech with the fervor of a devout believer. "Our vampire race has begun to decay. I believe we need a great deity to solidify our faith, save our kin, and lead us to a new era of dominance. We are a noble race; we should not be hiding in the shadows, but standing tall to rule this world!"
"Kraven, have you lost your mind?" the noblewoman shrieked, her voice echoing with rage. "Do you know where you are? This is the ancient castle of the vampires! How dare you spread such demonic heresy here? Get out this instant, and for the sake of Victor, I might spare you for your insolence."
The crowd in the hall had been stunned into silence by Kraven’s words, their expressions vacant and confused. It took a moment for the noblewoman to regain her composure, her narrow eyes blazing with fury as she shouted her order.
"Awoo... Awoo..."
Just then, a series of howling sounds erupted from outside the castle, shattering the silence of the hall.
"Hmph! What are the Death Dealers doing, letting those filthy Lycans get this close?"
"Oh, damn it... what a mood-killer. I hate those filthy beasts."
Hearing the howls drawing nearer, the high-ranking vampires did not panic; they merely looked annoyed. They had long treated Lycans as slaves, and a slave rebellion was nothing new to them. They did not believe for a moment that these creatures could cause them any real harm.
*Bang!*
The heavy doors were suddenly thrown open with a thunderous crash. Li Yang stepped into the hall, followed by Lucian, Selene, and a group of Death Dealers.
"Greetings to the great and divine God of Bloodline Sorcery!" Kraven immediately dropped his wine glass and knelt in fervent worship. Ever since he had witnessed Li Yang subdue the entire Death Dealer unit three days ago, his devotion had escalated into fanaticism. He could still vividly recall the sight of Li Yang’s overwhelming power—the way he had wiped out the Death Dealers in the sewers with bolts of lightning summoned from the sky. That single event had completely transformed Kraven into a loyal follower.
"Selene, did you bring them here?"
"Damn it... what are the guards doing? How could they just let people barge in like this?"
The moment Li Yang entered, the gathered vampire nobles began to curse. Only the noblewoman on the dais remained silent, staring intently at Lucian beside Li Yang. As one of the three Elders of the vampire race, she had seen Lucian many times before. Recognizing him, she was struck by shock and the sudden, chilling realization that something had gone terribly wrong.
"Silence!"
Li Yang scanned the room, two balls of crimson solar fire burning within his eyes. The cold, damp atmosphere of the castle was instantly purged.
"Oh... hell..."
"No... no, no..."
"Ah... damn it... what is this..."
As they saw the fire in Li Yang’s eyes and felt the temperature in the hall rise by ten degrees, the vampire nobles turned pale with fear, scrambling backward. Their eyes were filled with disgust, dread, and panic.
Li Yang was satisfied with their reaction. Solar fire was the nemesis of these dark creatures. When it came to subduing them, force was the most direct and effective tool; everything else was just talk. He had waited until now to move only because he didn't want to cause a commotion that might alert Alexander Corvinus, nor did he want to trigger too much resistance from the vampires. He needed their influence to help him collect resources and search for the "Blood of the Perfect Hybrid." Destroying their power base would only hinder his plans.
"You already know why I am here," Li Yang said, his voice cold and devoid of emotion. "There are only two paths before you: submission or death."
"No! You are dreaming if you think the noble vampire race will ever submit to you!"
"Elder Victor will not let you get away with this..."
"There is never a shortage of those who refuse to see reason," Li Yang muttered. With a flick of his finger, a spark of solar fire landed on the few vampires who had spoken out, instantly reducing them to piles of black ash.
The hall fell into a deathly silence. The remaining vampires trembled like quails, their eyes filled with struggle and despair.
"Now, is there anyone else who wishes to object?" Li Yang scanned the room, the fire in his eyes spilling over, causing the very air around him to warp and distort.
After the two vampires were reduced to ash, the hall remained deathly quiet. Unlike ordinary mortals, these immortal beings were even more cowardly and obsessed with self-preservation. Corroded by centuries of luxurious, decadent living, they had long ago lost the courage to resist. No one dared to lead a rebellion, and no one dared to speak out.
"Tell me, what is your choice?"
When no one answered, Li Yang’s eyes grew impatient. As time slipped away, his limited patience began to wear thin. The atmosphere in the hall grew so heavy it felt like a physical weight, making it difficult for the vampires to breathe.
"I... I am willing to submit to the great and divine God of Bloodline Sorcery!"
Staring into the fire in Li Yang’s eyes—a fire that seemed capable of consuming everything—the noblewoman on the dais finally trembled and collapsed to her knees. As the eldest among them, she could sense the fading patience in Li Yang’s gaze. More importantly, she could perceive the terrifying, ocean-like surge of energy within him. She had no doubt that if she did not satisfy him today, their entire race might vanish into the annals of history.
