Chapter 9: Not Even Allowed to Hold the Waist
With a full eight thousand points of anger added to what remained before, Su Chen only needed to gather a few hundred more points to start the lottery again.
It was just mealtime, so Su Chen decided to go downstairs and wander around, hoping to find some injustice to right and live the chivalrous life.
However, after a full round of walking and even having a warm tomato scrambled eggs over rice along the way, he encountered nothing. Everyone’s behavior was remarkably good, leaving Su Chen a little frustrated with no chance to exercise his skills.
This was unreasonable. Where were all those people who usually let their dogs off the leash, jaywalk, or litter? Had they all collectively decided to stay home?
As Su Chen was lamenting this quietly, he suddenly saw the convenience store owner’s daughter crying at the door. His eyes lit up immediately. He chuckled to himself—here’s a chance to act! Let’s go!
Since he often bought water at this convenience store, he was familiar with the little girl and wouldn’t be mistaken for a kidnapper or a creepy old man.
He strolled over slowly, picked up the girl, and gently comforted her, “Why is little Mei crying? Tell big brother who bullied you, and I’ll teach them a lesson to vent your anger!”
He simply couldn’t stand seeing the weak bullied, especially such a cute little girl with a face so soft and squeezable. He had to deliver justice!
The girl froze for a moment, then stammered quietly, “It was my mom. She scolded me for eating snacks.”
Su Chen was momentarily at a loss for words. Well... that wasn’t so easy to deal with.
Just then, the graceful young shop owner’s wife came out.
She heard their conversation, smiled without comment, took the child from Su Chen, and softly said, “Don’t cry, sweetheart. Your father went to restock and won’t be back for three days…”
Su Chen was speechless.
Looking at the owner’s wife’s sultry gaze and alluring figure, Su Chen couldn’t help but feel she was implying something.
Especially the part about the owner being gone for three days—it was hardly subtle!
“Well, madam, the child is still little, so scolding her isn’t very nice...” Su Chen smiled awkwardly, trying to change the subject.
The wife smiled gently, “She promised me she wouldn’t eat snacks for these two days. If she makes a promise, she must keep it. If not, she deserves to be scolded!”
“Little Mei is young; it’s normal to be a bit greedy sometimes!” Su Chen replied with a smile, preparing to turn away.
But from behind came a soft voice: “That’s true. Kids forget things easily, but some grown men don’t keep their word either!”
Hearing this, Su Chen bolted without looking back. He definitely didn’t want to get involved in this!
Being called out was one thing, but the shop owner used to be a butcher before running the convenience store—he was genuinely scary!
[Received 666 anger points from Liu Meixue.]
Su Chen was stunned.
Well... this actually works?
---
Su Chen hadn’t expected such an unexpected windfall. It was like a blind cat catching a dead mouse—lucky by accident!
In high spirits, he returned to his room and looked at his anger points, now just under ten thousand. He could hardly contain himself.
Following his usual routine of bathing, changing, and drawing talismans, Su Chen began his second intermediate-level lottery draw.
[Received C-level literary work — "Wukong: Life’s Endless Sorrow Flows East."]
Seeing it was a C-level literary piece, Su Chen felt a bit disappointed.
It seemed the previous A-level song "Against the Current into the River" was a lucky break, not the norm.
Compared to "Cheating on the Wedding Night," this C-level work was two ranks higher, so it shouldn’t be trash. After all, the ranking was right there!
Thinking this, Su Chen immediately began flipping through the book in his mind.
At first glance, the writing was excellent, and the emotions were well conveyed.
But as he read further, the tone grew darker and darker.
The novel was steeped in a dark atmosphere—except for Wukong, there was no one remotely good; almost everyone was a villain.
The story told of Wukong’s relentless 3,000-year struggle against fate and divine power struggles, ending in a tragic inevitability.
After finishing the novel, Su Chen exclaimed, “Wow, this is a depressingly satisfying story! Highly recommended!”
The quality was subjective, but the anger points it could generate promised to be spectacular.
Compared to "Against the Current into the River," Su Chen felt this novel might bring even more benefits and anger points.
Without hesitation, he immediately uploaded three chapters to the Qi Hang Chinese Literature website.
Unlike "Cheating on the Wedding Night," this was a long novel; Su Chen didn’t plan to post the entire work at once.
One reason was contractual—this book could be sold, so why give it away for free?
Another was that he wanted a steady stream of income—the longer it took, the more anger points he could accumulate, and the greater the harvest.
After the novel passed the review, Su Chen added a line to the synopsis.
[An invincible, joyful, feel-good story filled with swagger, pig-eating tiger fights, decisive battles, and fiery passion~ Readers are warmly welcomed to enjoy!]
He knew many readers loved contrasts, the so-called ‘adorable contradictions.’ When they saw such a stark difference between the synopsis and the main text, they would be delighted.
Having finished these tasks, Su Chen felt a bit tired. Just as he was about to rest and wash up for sleep, there was a knock at the door.
Opening it, he found Zhou Yujie standing there cheerfully.
---
“What’s up, Yujie? Can’t sleep and want to have a heart-to-heart chat under the night rain?” Su Chen teased with a smile.
“Not at all! I’m here to ask if you want to go for some late-night snacks. It’s on me!” Zhou Yujie rolled her eyes dramatically and snorted.
Su Chen laughed heartily and nodded, “If a beauty invites me, I definitely have to go!”
When they reached downstairs, Su Chen was about to hail a taxi, but somehow Zhou Yujie produced an electric scooter.
“Oh, you even bought an electric scooter?” Su Chen asked curiously with a smile.
“It’s more convenient,” Zhou Yujie said lightly as she hopped on, patting the seat behind her. “You’ll have to suffer a bit and ride on the back.”
“What are you talking about!” Su Chen laughed, joking, “That’s a benefit, not suffering!”
Zhou Yujie glanced at him coldly and sneered, “I warn you, you can ride, but no funny business.”
“Pfft, am I that kind of person? You’re thinking about me way too much!” Su Chen straddled the backseat, teasing, “I promise I’ll only hold your waist, absolutely no funny business. Don’t worry.”
“Holding the waist is even worse! You better behave and sit properly, or I won’t give you a ride, and you can run behind me!”
Suddenly, she burst into laughter, probably thinking of something funny.
Su Chen guessed what was on her mind and laughed too, “I know you’re thinking about that scene with the dog walk…”
“You really guessed it! You’re so smart!” Zhou Yujie covered her mouth, her eyes crinkling into crescent moons as she laughed.
“Thanks a lot! But no holding the waist… I was all excited for nothing.”
Zhou Yujie snorted lightly, mockingly, “What kind of thoughts do you have? Not healthy at all!”
“That’s just because your charm is too strong!” Su Chen replied with a grin.
“Heh, by that logic, I should thank you for the compliment…”
“No need to thank me—just let me enjoy some of your perks. I don’t ask for much.”
“You’re shameless!”
Laughing and chatting, they rode off slowly on the electric scooter.
