That must be Wu Gang’s true form.

Suddenly, a shadow loomed over Xu Si’s back. She trembled as she turned around.

“Hey, Chang’e, it’s your good friend Wu Gang. Remember me? Long time no see. You’re looking better than ever,” said a lecherous man whose face was covered in boils.

“Hi… Wu Gang…” Xu Si’s voice shook as she greeted him, struggling to suppress her disgust—this hideous creature sickened her.

Some faces are as ugly as a gross miscarriage of justice.

He grinned slyly and continued, “You’re getting more beautiful, but your chest isn’t big enough. Want to try the latest breast enhancement pills?”

Xu Si didn’t respond, showing she had no interest in engaging with him.

“Why are you out so late?” Wu Gang said, then paused and let out a breath. “Heh heh, could it be… you forgot to take your medicine?”

“I’ll f**king eat your grandpa!” she snapped, unable to hold back any longer. What was he trying to do, attacking her with tone?

Failing to get the answer he wanted, Wu Gang’s face twisted, turning frightening as his skin began to peel off, and he started to look like he was about to attack.

Xu Si stepped back several paces to put distance between them. Just then, Seventeen Niang returned, a tiny toad hopping at her feet.

Suddenly, a buzzing sound echoed in Xu Si’s mind. She seemed to understand what Wu Gang truly was.

Chang’e, Hou Yi, Wu Gang, the Jade Rabbit—the rules said Wu Gang wasn’t really Wu Gang, but some creature covered in poison.

That had to be a toad!

“You damn toad, how dare you impersonate Wu Gang!” Xu Si shouted at Seventeen Niang, signaling her to catch the toad.

Wu Gang howled angrily and lunged toward Xu Si.

Xu Si quickly ran to Seventeen Niang, took the toad, and gripped it tightly. The toxin stung her hand, making it numb, but she dared not let go.

“Life is dull; the toad critiques humanity!”

With that, Xu Si forcefully hurled the toad at Wu Gang.

As soon as the toad touched him, Wu Gang swelled up like a balloon until—pop!—he burst open.

Beneath the human skin jumped a huge toad.

Seventeen Niang obediently stepped forward and grabbed the toad by the scruff, then turned to ask, “Master, shall we leave now?”

“Wait a moment!”

Xu Si looked around as if searching for something.

In the corner, a massive Jade Rabbit suddenly appeared, crouched on the ground pounding herbs.

The Jade Rabbit glared fiercely at Xu Si and pounded harder and harder.

In the next instant, it swung its pestle toward Xu Si.

Xu Si stretched out her hand. “Stop, stop, Rabbit-chan! I’m a Dismantler!”

“…Which Chang’e are you?” The Jade Rabbit hesitated, lowering its pestle but ignoring her words, nervously scanning her up and down.

“Do you remember that Chang’e?” Xu Si didn’t answer but asked the Jade Rabbit on her own.

“What Chang’e? There’s no Chang’e here!” It snapped sharply and, after a moment, asked again, “Which Chang’e? There’s a new Chang’e every day here.”

The Jade Rabbit trembled slightly and covered its mouth with its paw.

“The Chang’e who fled to the moon.”

“Legend says she betrayed Hou Yi, but did she really betray him?”

“I think all the Chang’es here have ‘betrayed’ Hou Yi—betrayed the father whose love is as vast as a mountain, the son who is honest and filial, the husband who adores his wife.”

The Jade Rabbit immediately writhed in agony, collapsing to the ground with a wail.

“The elixir is made from Chang’es who failed their ascension. I guess you were once a Chang’e too, or rather, a Chang’e who succeeded in ascending, while the Dismantler is the one who remains clear-headed.”

“Am I right?”
