Volume 1, Chapter 41: Let Her Have a Child
After Shen Er left, Madam Shen fell into deep thought for a moment.
"Yunyan, you are with child, so go back to your room and rest."
It was clear they had something to discuss in private. Su Yunyan glanced at Shen Nanxing, and finally, being sensible, she spoke up.
"Yes."
Once Su Yunyan had departed, Madam Shen signaled to Mother Qiu, who walked to the door and closed it.
Upon arrival, it felt just like any ordinary fishing village, but now that scent was ten times more intense.
"Yaya, don’t insult the dog!" I feigned intimacy, wrapping my arm around Xun Suya's shoulder as I exhaled a faint cloud of smoke. Inwardly, I thought to myself that this was surely a tragic tale of love turned to hate, though if I were Xun Suya, I certainly wouldn't have set my sights on this half-man, half-god loser.
"Monkey, Xie Jun is done for! Are you alright on your end?" I slowed my pace, walking side by side with Monkey, whose face was etched with worry.
Qiao Yan waited anxiously outside the emergency room, unsure of Wan Xing’s condition. She had no way to contact Wan Xing’s family to inform them. Beibei and Zhong Kai had not been found, and with Yuchi Hong at the music hall, there was no news of them either.
I pulled out a barrier grenade, pulled the pin, and tossed it directly at Akechi Jubei. The grenade struck him and bounced onto the floor. With a "bang," it detonated, sending yellow paper talismans flying everywhere, sticking to every surface and effectively sealing off the main room.
This Bai Shaoqiu was only about twenty years old; while he was handsome enough, he lacked a sense of composure.
"Waste, you once participated in the incident where the Goryeo Kingdom used ghost pearls to summon yin soldiers, right? Do you remember why they needed to conscript those soldiers at the time?" Huoyu didn't turn to look at me, her gaze fixed on a single cilantro leaf floating in the bowl of clear chicken soup.
Killing an official is a desire buried deep in the hearts of the common folk for ages, though it cannot be spoken of openly. But now that it was an enemy general, a traitor, and a lone man killing an official, it could be stated clearly, satisfying the people's most secret yearning; a clamor rose up instantly.
I walked step by step, when suddenly, I saw what appeared to be some kind of animal dart past in the distance.
Rong Mofeng was intensifying his search for the Tianshan Snow Lotus, which filled her with a sense of crisis. After all, when Lan Yingjiao died, she hadn't told anyone the location of the lotus, which meant it was still somewhere in the world. If Rong Mofeng were to find it, her schemes would fall to ruin.
Dongfang Ningxin helped Xue Tian’ao to his room and checked his pulse again. Discovering that his internal energy was merely in disarray and simply needed to be guided back into balance, she took out her remaining gold needles and, bit by bit, helped guide his energy into place. By the time she finished, night had fallen, and she was utterly exhausted.
Shui Mei could neither move nor scratch the itch, and plagued by the fear that the man was deceiving her, she felt as if her heart were being seared; the agony was unbearable, and she was on the verge of a breakdown.
For Cheng Lie to speak in such a manner meant that he would not—and would not deign to—use his own influence to carry out any "punishment" against Jin Xiaoyi.
Three thousand cavalrymen shouted in unison that they understood, their blood boiling as if they were beasts that had just caught sight of their prey.
Zhao Kuo was confident in the material of his spear and halberd, striking repeatedly at Gao Shang’s longsword. However, Gao Shang’s sword was clearly no ordinary blade; although the notches on it grew, it refused to snap or break, which truly frustrated Zhao Kuo. He had no way of knowing that Gao Shang was far more frustrated than he was.
Tang Xiao had recently grown accustomed to waking up early. After washing up and dressing in fresh clothes, she checked her phone and only then remembered that it was Saturday.
With that, he bowed, then clapped his hands. From somewhere, the refugees dragged out a dilapidated handcart and placed the corpse upon it. Without offering much of an explanation, the group simply hauled it away, while the middle-aged man bowed toward the space behind her.
