“Dad!” Lin Mianyue’s voice rang out as her son raised his cane to strike multiple times. She kept pleading, “Linzhou knows he was wrong. If you hit him again with the cane, he’ll be bedridden for days. Who’s going to run the company then? He’s been kneeling for almost two hours. Let him get up now.”

“Get up? What are you talking about!” The old man was exasperated, glaring at his grandson who was still kneeling casually. “Can’t you get your act together and have a proper child with Luoning, live a decent life?”

Gu Linzhou sneered coldly. Just as he was about to speak, the butler hurried over. “Master, Young Madam has arrived.”

Gu Linzhou glanced sideways and caught sight of the woman who had arrived: her long, wavy hair gleamed smoothly, and her professional plaid suit exuded a sharp, no-nonsense aura rather than gentleness. Her exquisitely beautiful face bore a faint smile.

Suddenly, someone’s view was blocked. The old man stood up to greet her, “Luoning’s here.”

“Grandpa.” Fu Luoning smiled. “What’s all this fuss about?”

The old man, worried she might be upset, said, “I’ve already scolded Linzhou for you. Don’t worry, he’ll be earnest and stay by your side from now on.”

Fu Luoning maintained her courteous smile. “Grandpa, please let him get up first.”

“Alright, that’s settled,” the old man said, glancing at Gu Linzhou. “This matter is closed. And you two shouldn’t mention divorce again.”

Fu Luoning was taken aback, looking at Gu Linzhou in shock.

Divorce? How could Grandpa know?

She immediately thought of the divorce agreement left in the Tianjin Bay study.

Gu Linzhou’s lips twitched into a faint, ambiguous smile as he met her gaze—clearly thinking she was playing some sort of trick.

Was she really willing to give up the Gu family’s wealth, power, and status?

“Luoning, I know Linzhou’s been a jerk sometimes, but he’s a good kid. I gave him a stern talking-to this time. If he ever messes around again, I won’t let it slide. You two should stay together, have a child, and live a good life…” The old man genuinely liked this girl, but he just couldn’t understand why his grandson couldn’t keep his act together.

Fu Luoning listened absentmindedly. Gu Linzhou had already stood up and walked over, grabbing Fu Luoning’s hand. “Grandpa, I’m going to have a child with my granddaughter-in-law right now.”

Without caring about the people in the hall, he scooped Fu Luoning up and headed upstairs, drawing amused looks from everyone present.

Fu Luoning came to her senses only when they reached the bedroom door. Gu Linzhou pushed it open, pulled her inside, took off his suit jacket, and was about to kiss her. Fu Luoning kicked him sharply in the knee, causing him to stumble to the floor. Her eyes were cold as she looked at him: “What are you going crazy for?”

“Crazy?” Gu Linzhou stood up, tugged off his tie, and with a handsome, roguish face full of mockery said, “Playing the divorce card and then running to Grandpa with it? You want to have a child? Then have one now.”

Fu Luoning frowned. “I’ve never told Grandpa about divorce. The only divorce agreement has been in your Tianjin Bay study all along.”

Gu Linzhou’s expression darkened. After a moment’s silence, he muttered, “My mother went to Tianjin Bay today and found it in the study.”

Fu Luoning sneered, “If you had bothered to check the study yourself, you’d have seen the agreement beforehand, and Grandpa wouldn’t know.”

“There’s so much going on at the company. When would I have time…” he trailed off.

“Yet you have time to scandalize with other women and fly to Paris for fashion shows?” Fu Luoning scoffed coldly. “Your nonsense gives me a headache.”

Seeing her indifferent and annoyed expression again, Gu Linzhou’s anger flared. He moved closer, narrowing the distance between them, their breaths mingling. “Not happy? I was like this before we married. You insisted on marrying me. Now you regret it and want a divorce? Let me tell you, no way!”

He stared at Fu Luoning’s rosy lips and bent down to kiss her. She raised a hand, blocking his cheek impatiently. “Get lost.”

“Isn’t Grandpa eager for great-grandchildren? You married in; you should know your duties.” His eyes burned with passion and darkness as he pushed Fu Luoning onto the bed, peeling off his shirt to reveal a strong upper body.

Then he pressed himself against her.

“Let go of me!” she resisted fiercely with arms and legs.

Gu Linzhou planted soft kisses on her arm and side of her face; his hands crept to her waist, feeling her warm, tender skin. His breath grew heavier, just as he was about to move higher, he suddenly winced in pain from his nose!

She dared to hit him!

Blood dripped down his face. He frowned in pain and was about to stop her when he saw Fu Luoning bending her leg.

He hastily pulled back, but her leg swept toward him. Unable to dodge in time, he tumbled off the bed, crying out in pain and curling into a ball, his face twisted in agony.

Fu Luoning stood up, adjusted her clothes, and was so angry she wanted to kick him a couple more times.

Gu Linzhou lay on the floor, nose still bleeding, clutching himself, and spat out each word: “You! Vicious! Woman!”

“Hmph!” Fu Luoning snorted coldly, looking down at him from above. “You’re really annoying. You can go back to your old ways, carousing and entangled in scandals—I won’t care. But I want you to be clear: I never want anything to do with you.”

Her cold and resolute attitude left Gu Linzhou momentarily stunned.

No relationship at all!

Fu Luoning walked out into the hallway and called down the stairs, “Butler Zhao, send the family doctor up here.”

Downstairs, the old man was confused.

He had given Gu Linzhou a few cane strikes but hadn’t hit hard. Just a moment ago, Linzhou could still stand and run off holding Fu Luoning’s hand—it didn’t look serious.

He hurried upstairs and saw his grandson on the floor, bleeding from the nose and curled up in pain. It seemed the couple had fought.

Gu Linzhou appeared to be the one who had been struck.

Oh dear, seeing him like this, would he still be able to have great-grandchildren?

The family doctor arrived and examined him. The old man anxiously asked, “How is it? Can I still hold great-grandchildren?”

The doctor chuckled. “Don’t worry, sir. It’s nothing serious.”

Gu Linzhou glanced at Fu Luoning sitting on the sofa and said pointedly, “Grandpa, what are you worried about? If I really can’t have children, then my granddaughter-in-law will never be able to divorce me.”

“You little brat, stop talking nonsense!” The old man smacked him on the head and immediately regretted it.

Gu Linzhou felt the stopped nosebleed begin again.

Seeing no fresh blood, the old man sighed in relief and pointed at Gu Linzhou. “Serves you right. Who told you to fool around outside and get beaten by your wife?”

Gu Linzhou glared darkly at Fu Luoning on the sofa.

He had lost so much face.

“Linzhou, how are you? Look at that slap mark! And your nose, oh…” Lin Mianyue rushed into the room, looked at her son, then scolded Fu Luoning for being too harsh.

Fu Luoning caught Gu Linzhou’s gaze and rolled her eyes.
