Volume One, Chapter 10: Soon, I Will Let Everyone See Tuantuan’s True Face
Yang Jinchuan stepped forward, and the dark aura swirling around him shifted closer to Tuan Tuan, instantly enveloping her completely.
The little beauty inside the pendant sensed the approach of the dark energy and communicated with Tuan Tuan: “Don’t be afraid, Tuan Tuan. Leave these vile energies to me. I’ll ensure your father remains safe and healthy.”
Tuan Tuan said nothing; no one knew of the silent exchange between her and the little beauty.
Seeing the ghostly aura, the little beauty opened her beautiful, blood-red mouth and howled, sucking the dark energy into her mouth and swallowing it. She felt a faint satisfaction spreading through her internal organs.
Relieved to see the little beauty unharmed, Tuan Tuan exhaled softly.
The man before her drew nearer, his face flushed and eyes red-rimmed, radiating a tender and emotional expression. Tuan Tuan was not afraid—instead, she yearned to approach him.
Perhaps this was the power of blood ties.
Yang Jinchuan stared at Tuan Tuan in disbelief. Her face was strikingly similar to Ai Zi’s, barely changed from the rosy, chubby appearance she had at one and a half years old. This face was almost identical to the image of the daughter in his dreams, just a little older.
“Tuan Tuan…”
He took her into his arms, crying like a child weighing two hundred pounds, sobbing uncontrollably.
Tuan Tuan reached out with her small hand to wipe his tears, her voice as light as cotton: “Daddy, don’t cry. Crying makes you less handsome.”
Yang Jinchuan was moved by his daughter’s tender voice and, wary of frightening the child who had just returned home, held her tightly, unable to calm himself for a long while.
His daughter’s voice was as sweet and soft as cotton candy, melting his heart utterly.
He wiped away his tears, his gaunt face now appearing even gentler. Seeing her pale and thin form, his heart ached deeply.
How much suffering must this child have endured!
Just as Yang Jinchuan was about to speak, Ai Xin stepped forward, holding Tuan Tuan’s small hand with a voice full of love and pity: “Tuan Tuan, it’s so good to have you back. Your father and I have finally found you.”
Who was this woman?
Tuan Tuan met Ai Xin’s gaze filled with concern, but her body trembled uncontrollably.
A dark aura clung to the space between Ai Xin’s brows, seeming to pour forth from her body and yet as if it were fused with her very soul.
Tuan Tuan shrank into Yang Jinchuan’s embrace—a clear sign of fear.
Ai Xin remained silent.
This child deliberately resisted her the very first time they met. Just as expected of Ai Zi’s bloodline—nothing but a worthless brat!
Ai Xin then smiled gently: “Jinchuan, Tuan Tuan just came back from the countryside and is shy around strangers. Let’s take her inside first.”
Her every gesture and movement radiated the air of the lady of the house.
She turned to the girl beside her and said, “Beibei, this is your little sister. You must take good care of her from now on.”
The girl, with rosy lips and white teeth, smiled sweetly and handed the doll in her arms to Tuan Tuan. “Sister, this is a gift for you, a doll I love very much. I hope you like it.”
Beibei held the doll high, waiting for Tuan Tuan to accept it.
Tuan Tuan, still in Yang Jinchuan’s arms, looked at the doll, then stepped down and reached out to take it. “Thank you.”
Beibei happily grabbed Tuan Tuan’s small hand, her smile radiant: “Sister, you’ve suffered so much. From now on, I’m your big sister, and I’ll protect you well.”
Tuan Tuan shyly nodded, showing a sweet smile.
Grandpa Yang urged everyone to hurry inside: “Let’s go in first. Tuan Tuan must be hungry. Let’s feed the child.”
Wan Yunzhi agreed repeatedly, declaring nothing was more important than the precious granddaughter eating her meal.
Seizing the opportunity, the eldest brother held Tuan Tuan in his arms again: “Sister, let me carry you. Walking is tiring; don’t wear yourself out.”
Surrounded by the family’s loving attention, Tuan Tuan was ushered into the living room.
Ai Xin and Beibei stood outside the door, watching the lively family gathering, as if they had never truly belonged to the Yang family.
Ai Xin lowered her gaze, a sinister glint flashing in her eyes. Why had that worthless brat come back again?
Beibei’s previously innocent and sweet expression vanished, replaced by an unnaturally cruel look for her age: “Mom, Tuan Tuan is back. What should we do? Since she returned, Grandpa, Grandma, Dad, and Brother haven’t even glanced at me once.”
Ai Xin smiled faintly, her words brimming with confidence: “So what if she’s back? If I could abandon her once, I can abandon her again!”
Beibei’s anxious heart finally settled.
“Beibei, have you done what I instructed?”
“Mom, I’ve done everything you said. Soon, everyone will see her true colors!”
Holding Beibei’s hand, Ai Xin strode into the living room with assured grace.
The liveliness in the living room was something Ai Xin had never seen since Tuan Tuan was lost—such warmth and joy.
The five brothers, who had never cooked, rushed eagerly to the kitchen, curious about the food prepared for little Tuan Tuan. Father Yang Jinchuan picked up his phone, ready to make a call. Grandma held Tuan Tuan tightly, unwilling to let go. Grandpa wanted to show Tuan Tuan the rooms upstairs.
That was the large room Beibei had longed to live in but the Yang family had always forbidden her from entering.
Though Tuan Tuan had been gone for two years, the room with the best view and largest space remained empty, as if awaiting her inevitable return.
Now that Tuan Tuan was back, Beibei’s dream was shattered completely.
Beibei bounced over to Tuan Tuan, pulling her to look at the toys: “Tuan Tuan, everyone bought me lots of toys. I’ll show you.”
Toys?
Before Tuan Tuan could ponder further, Beibei had already dragged her hand and run off.
Just as everyone felt pleased to see the sisters getting along, Beibei’s crying suddenly pierced the air: “Why are you doing this to me? Boo hoo, you’re so mean!”
Grandpa, Grandma, Yang Jinchuan, and the five brothers in the kitchen all rushed out and headed straight for the toy room.
Yang Jinchuan was the first to enter, holding Tuan Tuan close, checking her hands: “Tuan Tuan, are you hurt? Do you feel unwell anywhere?”
Grandpa Yang Nanqiao anxiously shouted to the housekeeper: “Old Wang, call 120 immediately! Get an ambulance!”
Grandma Wan Yunzhi urged nervously: “Jinchuan, take Tuan Tuan to the hospital quickly. My precious child, are you hurt? Let Grandma see you!”
The five brothers swarmed in, completely surrounding the little cherished one.
Beibei stood there, speechless.
She looked incredulously at her family. Why did everyone care about Tuan Tuan and no one about her?
Tears welled up in Beibei’s eyes as she gazed at her family without blinking.
Ai Xin came in, crouched beside Beibei, and asked softly with concern: “Beibei, what happened? How did the toy end up on the floor?”
Under Ai Xin’s gaze, Beibei pouted and spoke plaintively: “Sister Tuan Tuan didn’t like my toys. I kindly gave them to her to play with, but she threw them harshly on the floor… It’s all my fault, Mom. I picked the wrong toys for Sister Tuan Tuan. Mom, it’s all my fault…”
Ai Xin secretly breathed a heavy sigh of relief. She was eager to see how the Yang family would judge this matter!
Coming from the countryside, they were truly unrefined!
The Yang family’s little princess could only be her!
