Tang Xi peered through the peephole and saw a pale-faced woman, quite attractive.
“Hello, is anyone home? No knock before entry. One night for 388 Singapore dollars, satisfaction guaranteed.”
Tang Xi?
They’d become so brazen now, even targeting someone like him—a budding flower of the future.
Was he that kind of person?
“Ahem, miss, I’m not that kind of person.”
“288 Singapore dollars.”
“I told you, I’m not that kind of person.”
“188 Singapore dollars.”
“Come in.”
Tang Xi opened the door and let the woman in. The scent she carried was tinged faintly with blood. He was no fool, nor driven by lust; he wanted to see what the woman was up to.
“Beautiful lady, shall we begin the service now?”
Suddenly, the woman pressed a knife against Tang Xi’s neck.
“Stop talking nonsense. Keep it up, and I’ll kill you. Hand over all the food!”
“Calm down, miss. I’ll get you some food.”
Tang Xi fetched the food from the freezer. The woman sat opposite him, devouring it ravenously.
When Tang Xi moved, she looked up coldly.
“In front of a Foundation Establishment cultivator, you’d better not try any tricks.”
Tang Xi feigned fear, but inside he was calm—confident he could kill her with a surprise strike.
The woman must have targeted him because he lived alone, was young, and apparently posed no threat.
After eating her fill, the woman lay on the sofa, eyes closed, resting.
Knock knock—
The door was knocked again. The woman abruptly sat up, holding the knife to Tang Xi’s neck as she went to the door. Peering through the peephole, she saw a delivery man in uniform.
She gave Tang Xi a glance, signaling him to speak.
“Who is it?”
“Sir, someone ordered a delivery for you. It’s waiting for your signature.”
Tang Xi had never ordered anything. The delivery man’s eyes gave him an uneasy feeling—probably no good.
The woman ordered Tang Xi to sit down, then opened the door.
The delivery man stepped inside and, seeing both Tang Xi and the woman, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes before vanishing.

“The mission briefing said this kid lived alone, right? Doesn’t matter—one or two kills, a kill’s a kill.”
“Sir, please sign here.”
The woman cut in, “I’ll sign for it. What’s his is mine.”
The delivery man handed over the package, then suddenly drew a knife from the box and slashed at the woman.
His strike, meant to kill instantly, was easily dodged by the woman.
“Hmph! Dog of the Immortal Martial Bureau, won’t let me go, huh?”
The assassin looked confused; he wasn’t part of the Immortal Martial Bureau at all.
A fierce battle erupted between the two, while Tang Xi sat on the sofa, watching with interest.
He didn’t know their identities, only that neither was a good person—and one seemed sent specifically for him.
Not far from Tang Xi’s home, two young men in uniform sprinted along the street.
Soon, one said, “Send a message to the boss. The Enigmatic Woman has been located.”
Back in the room, the fight had reached a critical stage. The man was gaining the upper hand. The woman, already gravely wounded, was suffering even more.
The Foundation Establishment level battle had already wrecked Tang Xi’s home beyond recognition.
The man roared, slashing a cross-shaped blade toward the woman. She was knocked flying, coughing blood, seemingly unconscious.
He then charged at Tang Xi, but before contact, a sharp sword pierced his heart. The fallen woman rose, controlling the weapon as it stabbed the man. He froze, glanced back at her.
The woman struck again, beheading the man in a brilliant arc.
“Kid, take me away quickly, or I’ll kill you.”
The woman was on her last legs; otherwise, she would have fled already.
Tang Xi laughed. “Sure!”
He then drew his B-grade Immortal Sword—the Dragon Fetus Sword. With a single sweeping strike, dazzling sword light cut across the woman’s neck. The flame of life vanished instantly from her eyes; her severed body collapsed to the ground.
Tang Xi took the woman’s storage pouch and tossed it into his system space. The man carried nothing but a broken C-grade sword.
He stayed put, waiting for the Immortal Martial Bureau to arrive.
The Immortal Martial Bureau was akin to the law enforcement agency of the previous life. Running away wouldn’t be easy to explain.
Sure enough, within a minute, several powerful presences rapidly approached.
A burly, bearded middle-aged man arrived with several others, surrounding the scene.
“Immortal Martial Bureau enforcement. Bystanders, step back.”
The bearded man glanced over the scene, then looked toward Tang Xi.

At the Immortal Martial Bureau enforcement office, Tang Xi recounted the entire incident.
A bureau member whispered something to the middle-aged man.
The man then approached Tang Xi with a smile.
“Young brother, I am Zhao Shixuan, Director of the Immortal Martial Bureau in Tenth King City. The woman you killed was the fugitive we have been tracking—the Enigmatic Woman. She evaded capture through a mysterious disguise technique but has now been brought to justice.”
“As for the dead man, he was also a fugitive, long missing. Seems you’ve offended someone. If anything suspicious arises, contact the Bureau immediately.”
“We’ve arranged new housing for you.”
Tang Xi left the Bureau, Zhao Shixuan’s words setting him on edge. Someone wanted him dead. Aside from Xu Wuhen, he had no other enemies.
It seemed the Xu family had resolved to kill him—he had expected some moves from them but hadn’t anticipated such swift retaliation.
This time it was a Foundation Establishment cultivator; next time, it could be a Golden Core cultivator. Then he wouldn’t be so lucky, and no one might be there to save him.
“When I become strong, the Xu family will be the first to perish.”
“Boss, the Enigmatic Woman’s storage pouch is missing. What about the lost items? Could it be this young man...”
Zhao Shixuan snorted coldly. “Continue tracking the missing items. Keep a close eye on this young man. Just entering the Bronze Gate, yet capable of killing a Foundation Establishment cultivator even by surprise—he’s a prodigy. Also, if you find any assassin traces, capture them immediately.”
“Remember, surveillance on several major families must remain constant, especially the Xu family.”
Tang Xi didn’t go to the new residence provided by the Bureau. He decided to check it out tomorrow and stayed in a hotel for the night.
He opened the Enigmatic Woman’s storage pouch. Aside from some female clothing, there were only miscellaneous items.
Among the clutter, a wooden box stood out.
Holding it in his palm, the box was finely crafted, not large—about the size of a palm—and featured a complex, intricate lock.
“System, do you know how to open this lock?”
“Ding. Suggest host forcibly open the lock.”
Tang Xi’s immortal energy surged, sword intent blazing, infused into the lock.
A faint click sounded—the lock was broken.
Inside the box lay a strangely shaped token, engraved with a large character meaning ‘Immortal.’
“What is this?”
