Chapter 49: Digesting the "Golden Skeleton"
Deep within the tranquil and gloomy basement.
The bizarre and murky miasma that had been raging in the basement over the past few days had been cleared away, thanks to some potted plants of blue-glowing moss that Zorn had transplanted from underground.
The greenish, murky miasma was thoroughly cleaned out, leaving the air exceptionally fresh.
Zorn had not shared with anyone the little-known fact that the blue-silver moss could purge toxic miasmas.
Once this information became public knowledge, the blue-glowing moss in the sewers would be completely scavenged by unscrupulous rat-catchers.
By then, even if the [Rat Plague] was resolved, the miasma filled with pollution and toxins beneath the earth would struggle to dissipate before the blue-glowing moss could recover, causing the plague to repeatedly erupt in the city of Oglan.
Inside the boiling boiler in the basement, a strange sound of extreme hunger was being emitted.
"Gurgle... rumble... rumble..."
"Gurgle... rumble... rumble..."
The stomach of the Giant Glutton was stewing within it.
Having emptied the stomach over the past few days, Zorn was finally able to complete the hardware installation of the Giant Glutton's stomach.
However, the installation of the Giant Glutton's stomach was only secondary today.
The primary task was the unsealing and utilization of the [Sun King's Golden Skeleton].
In the corner.
On the black ritual altar, three expensive materials that Zorn had previously purchased were quietly placed.
From left to right, they were:
A golden wolf-king's fang dagger.
"Ancient Ruin Silver Powder" from the Misty Plateau of Saint-Gaean.
"Fire-Heart Wood" from the magical cabin of the witch tribe.
These were all rare items, each worth about one hundred pounds of gold.
To digest the [Sun King's Golden Skeleton], Zorn had truly spared no expense.
The three candles on the three-branched candelabrum were burning, illuminating Zorn's calm face.
Glancing sideways at the [Sun King's Golden Skeleton] placed to the side, Zorn turned his attention back to the ritual altar before him.
Zorn was naturally well aware of the unsealing incantation for the [Sun King's Golden Skeleton].
Although it was merely a skeleton, it still harbored the power of a supreme being and the terrifying strength of an evil god.
However, without using his own supreme might, attempting to utilize it quietly would be extremely difficult and might even backfire disastrously.
If things went wrong, it could blow the entire manor into ruins.
Therefore... Zorn intended to... summon himself.
Back then, Zorn had anchored his anchor point to the Secret Origin, and began to pry open the black fog of the Calamity Origin to use as a cover.
Because of this, even if he guided and wielded his own magnificent power in the form of a summons now, he would not be perceived by those terrifying entities.
And the former "Zorn Corick"—
Having anchored himself in the Calamity Origin, he had unscrupulously wielded his magnificent power, unleashing cataclysms at every turn, blood-sacrificing an entire city-state, and stripping away the souls of an entire town's residents.
Blood-sacrificing was thrilling for a moment, but cremating afterward.
Everything he did was observed by those secretive and cunning existences.
He had basically been hunted down while treading on their tails.
Whereas the current "Zorn Corick"—
Anchored himself in the [Secret Origin], slowly prying open the power of the [Calamity Origin].
When the spiritual domain of the [Calamity Origin] took shape and perfectly concealed him, the terrifying evil spirit wizard would slaughter churches and blood-sacrifice church transcendent squads without anyone ever discovering his true tracks!
Previously, in the calamitous environment deep within the sewers, Zorn had already pried open a considerable amount of the black fog's power by utilizing ritual traps.
Now, Zorn was able to wield his own magnificent power through summoning.
Moreover, without needing to worry about being discovered by anyone.
Taking a deep breath, Zorn chanted in the ancient language of Saint Maya with a low voice:
"Great Lord of the Holy Witches!
You are the prophet who catches a glimpse of the future!
You are the lighthouse that never extinguishes!
You are the divine miracle that witnesses the immortality!
The epic of the world shall be rewritten in your hands!
The rings of history shall be turned and carved by your fingertips!"
"I pray for your descent!"
As Zorn finished chanting the incantation customized for himself, thick and murky black fog above the altar rapidly flowed in like nightfall, blanketing the roof and creating the illusion that a dark and profound night sky had descended.
Deep within the black fog, a cold, murderous, and majestic silhouette vaguely emerged.
That... was himself within the Secret Origin.
His current self in reality.
The anchor point in the Secret Origin.
And the origin of the Calamity Origin.
Trinity—this was the entirety of the [Evil Spirit Wizard] Zorn Corick.
As the summoning was completed, in Zorn's vision, he saw himself within a low and dim secret room.
When his self in reality looked up into the depths of the secret black fog, his own eyes met his own gaze.
"Mh... what a strange feeling."
He smiled softly, then withdrew his gaze.
The self in the Secret Origin gave a gentle tap.
Inside the basement, the thick black fog was rapidly reshaped.
Soon, the four walls, the floor, and the ceiling were all enveloped by curtains condensed from the black fog.
"With a secret room blessed by magnificent power, there's no need to fear whatever waves that Sun King's Golden Skeleton might try to make."
"Cough, cough, cough..."
Coughing, he pulled the ceramic jar out of the monster's briefcase.
After placing the ceramic jar properly, Zorn sorted through the incantation in his mind before slowly chanting it in the Tyrsian language.
This [Sun King], who revered the sun, had always chased after that group of great existences like ducks to water, holding them as the golden rule.
He possessed an even more fanatical obsession and pursuit for the so-called language of the gods—the "Ancient Tyrsian Language".
Even after death, he would only be unsealed amidst the incantations of the "Ancient Tyrsian Language".
As Zorn finished chanting the unsealing incantation—
"Crack, crack, crack..."
The ceramic jar rapidly cracked open.
Golden light, substantive in appearance, flowed out along the cracks.
Following that, the sealed ceramic jar rapidly weathered away.
A mighty, surging golden light rushed forth like a flood.
The entire secret room was suffused in an ocean of golden light.
Had it not been for the obstruction of the dark curtain, the golden light would likely have poured directly out into the street outside.
Zorn only felt a golden sun rising before his eyes.
He even caught sight of that brilliant golden figure sitting high upon a throne cast from gold, gazing down upon him with majesty.
"Kneel... you damned... slave!"
It felt as though a scorching wave of rebuke came surging over.
Everything around them was rapidly heating up.
If this continued, Zorn would likely be baked through.
At the same time, Zorn made his move.
The self in the Secret Origin struck down with a fierce palm.
"Boom!"
A palm strike spanning dimensions, carrying infinite supreme power, descended heavily.
The figure upon the golden throne was knocked directly off the throne.
"Clang... clatter... clatter..."
Resembling a rib cast from gold, it slammed onto the floor of the secret room, emitting a metallic ring.
When that golden radiance still wanted to surge forth once more, another blow from the Secret Origin landed heavily upon the Sun King's Golden Skeleton.
Both the golden light and the lingering will seemed as though they were about to be beaten apart.
Yet that golden light still attempted to condense.
By this point, however, there was no longer any need to mobilize the power of the Secret Origin.
Zorn himself could handle this scattering [Sun King's Golden Skeleton].
[Life Drain]
Zorn unleashed his transcendent ability.
After all, the [Sun King] had once assimilated the flesh and blood remains of Egunus.
The spiritual root within this could be said to share partially homologous traits with Zorn, allowing it to be directly and efficiently absorbed and digested.
This was quite literally the most perfect food for an [Evil Spirit Wizard].
"Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle..."
Amidst the efficient extraction, Zorn could feel his sequence experience soaring at a rapid pace.
6%... 8%... 10%...
