Chapter 38: Who Lost Their Composure?
Jason Kidd maintained a smile regardless of what Tony Parker said, though the meaning behind that smile was known only to Kidd himself. Of course, Parker understood a thing or two about it as well; after all, they were rivals, and Parker knew his opponents quite well.
"Regardless, don't overthink it. This really doesn't have much to do with anything. We all know the kind of person you are, and you simply wouldn't do something like that. So, let it go; I'll handle the rest of the game," Lin Yi said.
Smith confirmed that Duncan was fine, though he understood the bond between teammates. They might have had a flare-up of temper, but it was nothing serious. Since the referee hadn't intervened, it was clear they hadn't crossed the line.
A fierce glint flashed in Qi Huan's eyes, but he had no idea that his every move had been watched ever since he was with Qi Huoyuan. Although Mother Zhang had suppressed the matter in the end, it was still ferreted out by those with ulterior motives.
Xiahou Zhiyue looked at Ye Lihuan with complex emotions in her clear eyes. She had come to the Yanyu Kingdom for a political marriage, and her imperial father had instructed her to choose a husband while there. She had heard in the palace that the God of War, Prince Ye, possessed peerless grace, and she thought only such a man was worthy of her.
Xu Yang tried to bring the power of the stars closer, but before it could make contact with the pale green energy, he sensed a slight fluctuation. If the star power moved any closer, it would be discovered.
Zhu Zhiyong nodded, tucked the liquor into his pants pocket, and carried a basin of pork knuckles. He looked back at the table, swept up a steamed chicken that had only been partially eaten and a whole fish into the basin, and walked away.
Wu Xie had nothing to say about this. The gifts for the visit naturally had to be prepared: the agricultural company would provide its own specialties. This year there was only one—strawberries—along with some mountain goods. Though humble, they were high-quality items, and in a society that valued health and wellness, they were very popular.
In an instant, a "boom" echoed in Fu Duoduo's head, and heat surged from the soles of her feet all the way to her brain, as if trying to burst out of her skull.
"General Yan Shannuo is responsible for the Golden Triangle region; we must punish him severely!" an officer shouted from the floor.
Elder Zhao looked at the black sword energy shooting toward him with utter disdain. As he spoke, a sinister, blood-red aura erupted from his body and dispersed in all directions.
Yao Yi pretended to be confused and asked, "Grandpa Li, why are you looking for me? Haven't we already talked this over?"
The leaders of the various martial arts sects present were all shocked, as these words were essentially touching a dragon's scales. No one expected this elderly businessman to say something so certain to invite violence.
"True Essence Guidance." Recalling the technique Murong Xuan Chen had used years ago, Fan Shi immediately understood what kind of art this Ghost Corpse King was unleashing. Although True Essence Guidance was created by Murong Xuan Chen's ancestor in the Immortal-Demonic Realm, the technique had leaked out over time, allowing others to obtain it.
"Damn it! Are you going to go pick up girls just because the boss is?" Ye Ge threw his messy hair back and scolded Mo Bai.
The four-colored cocoon seemed as hard as diamond. Nie Chen’s full-force sword strike hadn't caused it any harm, leaving only a white mark, while the counter-shock caused his own web between thumb and forefinger to ache violently, making the already weak Nie Chen turn even paler.
Murong Yan only smiled faintly, perhaps not even hearing the words of Imperial Concubine Wan. His mind was occupied by the question Yan Yue had posed—a question that tugged at his heart, a problem he felt helpless to solve. Could Yan Yue truly have a way?
Three fire whirlwinds appeared directly before Tang Cheng and rushed toward Ni Tian Kuang Zhan, though Tang Cheng could see that the whirlwinds were merely meant to obstruct him.
War Wolf's decision left Madame Lily stunned for a full minute; she could not fathom the purpose behind such a move.
"Haha, thank you, Team Leader Shen!" Xu Rou said happily, and the group immediately ducked into the observation room.
The temperature of the fireball was incredibly high; had Xu Zai'an stayed standing there, he would have been reduced to air.
Most terrifying of all was that once this fluctuation covered the Bashin Universe, none of the Sovereigns within it, including the Great Fool King, had the power to resist.
He discovered lightning energy within his body, and this force was vaguely stronger than his fire elemental power.
A few minutes earlier, they had claimed that leatherback turtles couldn't possibly possess such intelligence, yet they were slapped in the face in the blink of an eye.
This was a dense forest surrounded by thorns; it was clear that ordinary people would not venture here, meaning others from the Xuan Sect were unaware of this place.
They had once had a child. Chen Xiang was pregnant at twenty-three. They could have married, and Si Chen’s mother’s health had improved significantly. Si Chen felt he could solve the situation, but the pregnancy could not be saved.
Yao Huange sneered and said, "Since you want to die, I don't mind sending you on your way!" A cold, corrosive battle aura erupted from Yao Huange’s body, standing his ground against the two battle-soul experts.
Unlike us, everyone shares a single worldview with only the slightest of differences. Everyone says that without a job, you die; without income, you die; without a partner, you die; without money, you die.
Wuhuazi’s opponent was An Jingxian, the leader of the Diancang Sect. Their martial arts were roughly equal, but the Qingcheng Sect was being suppressed by three other factions. Wuhuazi could not focus entirely on the fight; were it not for the indomitable fighting spirit supporting him, he would have lost long ago.
Xiao Shouchen naturally possessed his own charm. His heartfelt, reasonable words were exactly what was needed to win the loyalty of his subordinates.
